We are pleased to announce that we will be giving away one $50 gift certificate to Woodpeckers Precision Woodworking Tools. Woodpeckers manufacturers superb high-quality precision woodworking tools in the USA, and we want to give one lucky reader the chance to try these tools for themselves!

To enter, simply browse through Woodpeckers’ website, and leave a comment at the bottom of this page telling us which Woodpeckers product(s) you would use the $50 gift certificate to buy, and why. Entries will be accepted until the end of the month (April 30th, 2010), and a winner will be selected at random.

You can comment to this post as many times as you’d like, but a maximum of two entries per person will qualify towards the giveaway. Once a winner has been selected, they will be contacted by email, and we will then buy them a $50 gift certificate valid at the Woodpeckers online store.

Sample comments/entries:

1) I would use the $50 towards the 24″ precision T square because it looks like it would perform much better than a framing square for laying out cutting lines for my next cabinet project.

2) If I win, I would use the gift certificate to buy a few Woodpeckers right angle clamps to replace my cheap clamps that have proven to be too sloppy and unreliable.

  1. I would use the $50.00 Woodpeckers gift certificate to purchase a pair of Bessey Medium Duty 3-Way Edge Clamps. I have never seen these clamps with non marring plastic caps before. I definitely could use them.

  2. I should have clarified, entrants must mention which Woodpeckers products they would use the $50 prize for. The winner is not obligated to purchase the particular product they mention, and can use the gift card prize for anything they wish.

    Since you submitted an entry before I edited the rules, it will still be counted.

  3. I do metal working, not wood, but I LOVE tools, and there’s a lot of great things woodworkers use that can cross-over to make life better in my shop.
    Currently, I have a great Craftsman metal-cutting chop saw. It’s extremely heavy, and I keep it on a cart to quickly move it in and out of the shop for cutting.
    Unfortunately, the cart is a repurposed gas grill base. It’s a pain to use–sometimes literally, because there is no handle on it so I have to pick up one end by the sharp edges to wheel it out.
    I’ve wanted to build a dedicated base for the saw for years, but have always gotten hung up on the wheels/feet. The wheel kit for the router table stands is PERFECT for what I need! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for, and coincidentally, it’s $49.99!

  4. I would use the 50 dollars to get the woodpecker storystick, as well as the clamping square. They’d be very helpful constructing built-in bookshelves for my parents in their living room.

  5. I would use the $50 gift certificate to purchase one of the woodpecker story sticks, and the extra markers. It would be very helpful when I do repetitive measurements while making cabinets.

  7. Darn it! I messed up my first entry, so I am going to give it another try.
    If I won the $50 Woodpecker gift certificate I would buy Woodpeckers Magnetic Clamp Blocks. I didn’t even know such a thing was made and it looks like the best thing since sliced bread. I know they would come in handy quite often for me.
    If I won on a good week and had the extra money, I would also buy Woodpeckers Precision Square.

  8. I would use the gift certificate toward the shelf pin jig. New kitchen cabinets will be my next big project followed by a wall of book shelves. The jig would be very helpful getting shelf pin layout done correctly the first time!

  9. I have a PM66. I have the original blade in the saw. I am going to purchase the TS 2000 RIDGE CARBIDE SAW BLADE with the $50.00 gift certificate.

  10. I would buy the Woodpeckers Precision Triangle Combo. I would like to have a more robust and accurate 45 then the drafting triangles I use now.

  11. I would use the $50 gift certificate to buy the Cast Aluminum Router Mounting Plate. My current router table is badly in need of a replacement and a new plate would encourage me to build a better table.

  13. If I won this contest, I would buy the SERX Straight Edge Rule 24″. Coming from a background of architecture and drafting, I can appreciate a fine piece of craftsmanship that this tool exudes. A straight edge with such tight tolerances is a tool, no carpenter/ DIY’er or tool lover should be without.

  14. I need a new set of chisels (since my son used mine to beat on some rocks.) They weren’t a very nice set anyway, so the gift certificate would go towards that.

  16. I would utilize the $50 gift card towards the purchase of the Woodpeckers drill press table. I recently looked at this table at a Woodworking show in Reading PA and was very impressed with its construction compared to all of the competitiors. Unfortunately at the time I had already spent my limit at the show.

  17. I would use the $50 gift card on some pipe clamps because a person can never have too many good pipe clamps. These clamps would come in handy for my woodworking projects.

  18. Another thing that I would like to have is the Router Table Package – 24″ x 32″. Right now I have an old Craftsman style router table that used to be my Grandpa’s. It would be nice to have a much bigger router table.

    I’m always shying away from building some cabinets without rigid shelves. This tool would allow me to experiment with trying to make some adjustable shelves on my next closet or organization remodel.

  24. If I won the $50 I would like to try out the Woodpecker 4″ Box Clamp. I could really use some help making my drawers square during glue up.

    I could use it to lay out my cuts, and check to see if my equipment is square.

  28. The k.i.s.s. approach to the self centering design of the Saw Gauge makes it very appealing, I’d go for for it.

  30. I saw the Woodpecker tools at a Tool show this last weekend, and really liked the 24″ Precision Woodworking T Square. I missed the opportunity to pick one up there so that’s what I’d go for.

  31. My old Craftsman table saw is always going out of alignment. I would use the $50 gift certificate to buy the Woodpecker Saw Gauge. It looks very easy to set up Using the Saw Gauge will greatly improve the accuracy of my table saw and allow me to start the toolbox I have been planning for the last three years.

  32. I would apply the $50.00 toward the purchase of some Bessey K-Body Revo Parallel Clamps. These clamps look awesome.

  33. My choice would be the Story Stick, I need more accurate cuts so as not to spend so much time shaving edges to make my pieces correct. Without a major shop its difficult justifying the time and effort sometimes when things don’t come out right. Right on my wish list.

  34. I would use the use the $50 gifter certificate toward the precision 24″ T-square and Story Stick. I’m really impressed by the way these items would make laying out a project easy and precise. When I get more shop space, I’d like ot set up a router table with their table top. It looks very handy.

  35. I would use the $50.00 Woodpeckers gift certificate to purchase a “Saw Gauge” for setting up the table saw accurately at our high school woodshop. Everyone knows a properly set saw not only makes accurate cuts but safe cuts. Keeping all of our equipment set properly is a continous job being that the students are pretty hard on things. This would help the process go quickly and accurately. Thank you!

  36. Looking to make my own cabinets. therefore I would spend the gift card on the woodpecker clamps.

  37. I’d use the $50 gift certicificate to Woodpeckers website to buy a Wexey digital protractor. I’ve always had trouble getting the angles just right using the built in angle marks on my miter saw, scroll saw, and belt sander. The digital protractor would let me dial it in and know I’m getting the right angle before I cut.

  38. I’d use the $50 gift certicificate to Woodpeckers website to buy a Woodpecker 4″ Box Clamp. I have to couple large bookcases soon and this clamp (a couple of them) would help me get the boxes build just perfect.

  39. If I won the $50 I would put it towards the 12″ Precision Woodworking Square. I could really use a precise one so that I know for certain that my tools are cutting square. I have a suspect miter saw… or operator.

  41. I’d use the $50 towards the TLR Phenolic Router Plate. The cheap Sears phenloic that I currently have just isn’t cutting it. Woodpecker’s also a great system to adopt and eventually expand on.

  46. If I won, I would use the $50 towards the Incra Jig Miter Gauge 1000HD to replace my OEM gauge that came with my table saw. This would allow me to make accurate cuts on the old TS.

  47. I think I’m seriously looking at purchasing the 24″ T-square.I believe it would prove to be a very precise tool that can be used for a great number of applications. I ‘m a woodworker who also delves into metal and plastics when I make my own tools or jigs for special uses. When making jigs, tools, and patterns, accuracy is essential!

  48. I would have to spend my git certificate on the shelf pin jig. Since I don’t already have one, and like to build cabinets, it would be perfect. I have used a track style type shelving bracket in the past, and this would be much better for what I like to build.

  50. I would use the 32 Inch T-Square for all of my projects, I am a novice at woodworking and I find that it seems like all of my t-squares are off by at lease 1/16 of a inch, I don’t believe that all my measuring tools are off, So I would buy the T-Squre.

  51. Any woodpecker tool would be great, thanks, I an old woodworker and I love tools. They are the keys to doing a good job and doing it affectively,with ease.

  53. I would use the $50 gift certificate to buy the Woodpeckers shelf pin drilling jig. The reasons are (1) everything Woodpeckers makes is quality stuff. (2) It is made in the good old USA. (3) they are in North Royalton, Ohio and I grew up and graduated from High School in North Royalton, Ohio – which means I came from there and they came from there. (4) see #1 – they just make good stuff, no quality issues. (5) red, white & blue & MADE IN THE USA is something you don’t see much anymore, so #2 (see above) means everything to me.

  56. I would probably get myself a one-time tool. Nearly every one-time tool they come up with, I would love to have. They are all clever products that make several tasks much easier than any tools that previously existed to to the job they are designed to do.

  57. I have several of woodpeckers rulers, squares, and triangles. I use them as the gold standard. I take one to the big box store and buy a cheap one for everyday use and use the woodpecker one for furniture building. If I won the $50 I would buy their saw gauge as I think that as a nice to have item.
