Bosch MX25EC-21 Corded Multi-X Oscillating Tool

Bosch’s MX25EC-21 is their first corded Multi-X oscillating tool. Their PS50 cordless Multi-X has been out for several years now, and while positively reviewed, not all jobs are suitable for such a battery-powered tool.

The corded Multi-X is powered by a 2.5A motor and features a variable-speed dial (8k-20k oscillations per minute), Constant Electronics circuitry to maintain speed under load, OIS accessory platform, and a ball-joint cord swivel for flexible positioning and durability.

The MX25 kit comes with:

  • OSC138JF Japanese-Tooth Wood Saw Blade
  • OSC2RSC Rigid Scraper Blade
  • OSC312F Wood/Metal Saw Blade
  • OSC312RF RIFF Grout Blade
  • SDP001 Sanding Pad
  • 15  Wood and Paint-Sanding Sheets
  • Allen wrench, accessory box, carrying case

The tool also includes a OSCAD1 adapter, which apparently allows other brands’ accessories to be used with the tool. We’ll post more about this new adapter as soon as more info is made available.

I saw this available to purchase on Home Depot.com. I picked one up. $159, great deal. It shipped today to me, can’t wait!

Lowe’s had the cordless version for under $64 as a close out. My $10 off coupon made it a super deal, so I thought that I would try it. One battery didn’t want to charge since the tabs were bent, so that was easy to fix. I used a Dremel blade, and it broke right away. When I changed blades, and tried again, the internal mechanism broke. The motor was running, but the tool did not work due to the design of the internal drive which looks like a wishbone. It split in half. I returned the tool, and bought a Ridgid JobMax from Home Depot. The Bosch came with a nice carry case, and two batteries while the Ridgid came with only one battery, and a tool bag. They had a promotion to get a free attachment, so that made it a good deal. I plan on using the Ridgid a little more to see how well it holds up compared to the Bosch.

That’s pretty strange about the Bosch, and I don’t recall coming across similar complaints elsewhere, so it probably isn’t a common defect. Good luck with the Ridgid Job Max, I found it to be a great tool!
