Sleep on it. If you end up missing out because it goes out of stock online and in all the stores in your area (which is somewhat unlikely), there might be other compelling deals in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the post. I’m bouncing back and forth between the Dewalt get 2 tools free deal thats running now and the 4 tools with box (DCK499T2)one posted above. I don’t really need the tough box but the angle grinder and circular saw were going to be the bundle I’d get on the bogo…. Any idea (other than size and brushless) on how the DCS570 and DCS391B compare?

      Nov 12, 2018

      The DCS391 is a good 6-1/2″ saw.

The DCS570 is a great brushless 7-1/4″ saw.

One has a left-facing blade, the other right-facing. If you’ll be using it a lot and need extra capacity, DCS570. If you’ll use it sometimes and a smaller blade is perfectly okay, DCS391.

I use the DCS391 nearly daily for 2 years. I’ve built a house, an addition, multiple decks and several remodels with it and rarely pulled out my wormdrive. Highly recommend either a DeWalt precision or Diablo blade with it as almost every other blade I’ve used seemed too thick of kerf and lowered runtime.

I could not agree more. That DCS391 is awesome but it is all about the blade. She runs like a champ with that DeWalt Precision blade.

Why do you consider the 4 tool kit at $399 better value over the 7-8 tool kit with same box for $499?

    Reply

      Nov 12, 2018

      Common denominators:

      Impact driver
      (1) 4.0Ah battery
      Angle grinder
      Charger
      ToughSystem tool box

      8-tool kit additional tools:

      Basic drill
      LED worklight
Standard combo kit version circular saw
Standard combo kit version reciprocating saw
      (2) 2.0Ah batteries
      Brushless oscillating multi-tool
      Impact wrench

      4-tool kit additional tools:

      (1) 4.0Ah battery
      Compact brushless hammer drill
      Brushless circular saw
      $100 in your wallet

I’d also consider the $399 (currently $379) brushless combo discussed here:

      https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/best-dewalt-20v-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-right-now/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

There’s also the Home Depot tiered free bonus tool deals, here:

      https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/home-depot-free-bonus-cordless-power-tools-sales-event-holiday-2018/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

Do you want the rolling tool box? Then stick with the first two bundle deals. If you don’t care, it opens up to other options.

To simplify things, think about whether the choice of drill is important to you. Do you want a basic drill? Compact brushless drill? Premium heavy duty brushless? What tools do you want or need? That’s why I brought up the freebie bonus tool offers.

If it just comes down to the two ToughSystem bundles, the 8-tool is the better value, but I see more appeal in the 4-tool combo that has more brushless tools.

You can always add bare tools or compact batteries later. But if you have a drill and a circular saw you want to upgrade, you’d be left with duplicates you might not be able to use.

The 4-tool isn’t perfect either. I’d rather use a 3-speed or 4-speed/mode brushless impact driver than a single speed brushed model, so that tends to color my perspective. So for me, I’d look for a bundle deal that came with a compact brushless drill, and a multi-speed brushless impact. I like premium and brushless circular saws, but for how often I use one, I’d be fine with a brushed motor saw, even a standard combo kit version which has a lesser saw shoe.

Brushless isn’t the end-all, be-all, but I’d much rather go that route myself. The only tool that is brushless in that 8-tool kit, is the multi-tool, and I’m sure if they had a non-brushless model that would have been in it’s place. While you do get 3 batteries, they have much less potential for tool usage. I would avoid using compact batteries (two of them included) in either saw or the grinder.

It isn’t a bad starter kit, as it does cover all the bases, but if you use any of the tools regularly, you will probably prefer an upgraded model.

The brushless kit has FlexVolt batteries that will give any Dewalt tool its full potential, and will work in ANY future Dewalt tool you might be looking at.

I picked up the dewalt compressor and brad nailed combo last year. Pretty good setup. I actually like the dewalt over my hitachi nailer. Compressor fills quickly and is far quieter than the old Campbell hausfield i replaces.

Is there any difference in quality/durability/longevity between the pancake compressors on sale currently? I’m tempted by the Porter Cable with 16 ga nailer, 18 ga nailer, and stapler combo for $199. Will the Dewalt and/or Ridgid compressors be more reliable/durable?

In the market for a 6 gal pancake myself, what stood out to me with the Ridgid was the quarter turn ball release valve and the locking pressure knob. It also looks like it’s easier to wrap the electrical cord around the unit for storage and its rated at 80dBA instead of 82dBA. Spec sheet says the PC tank is made of cast iron, the ridgid is steel.

Personally, I’m going for the Ridgid.

Those type of pancakes are all about the same, they are DIY grade…Rolair is a pro brand pancake. ..big difference.
…..they are loud…… DeWalt precision point nailers are some of the best. Grex are superior. Hitachi makes excellent nailers…PC ,Bostich are not good.

Just a reminder for anyone in the Midwest- Menards has their 11% sale right now which means that anything you buy in store will be eligible for a matching discount.

This pushed me over the edge to get the m18 vacuum deal yesterday (which will be $133 plus tax) and I’m so glad I did. I replaced the floor in a small bathroom for a customer later in the day – it’s small physical size plus no cord to get tangled in was perfect for the situation

      What’s your budget?

      What do you already have?

Do you care about the brand?

Will you be buying any cordless lawn & garden tools that you’d want to work with the same system of batteries and chargers?

If you have a $400 budget, I think Makita’s deals are very appealing this year.

There are also larger kits available from Dewalt and Milwaukee that can handle more unforeseen tool needs. But you might also be putting money into tools you won’t need.

Stuart…do you think there will be a better deal this holiday season on a 5+ piece Milwaukee M18 Fuel combo than this HD deal? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless-Combo-Kit-6-Tool-with-2-5-0-Ah-Batteries-1-Charger-2-Tool-Bags-2896-26/206397110

I’m pretty set on jumping into the M18 fuel line and although this kit looks to have some of the older Gen M18 Fuel tools it does have the leftie circular saw I was looking for. I’m also looking to get the M18 Fuel 10″ Miter Saw and Jigsaw. What are your thoughts? Should I hold off for a better deal? or maybe a combo kit with the newer Gen M18 Fuel tools?

    Thanks!

It’s really hard to say. Usually, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and other deals of the day focus on high value and high bang for the buck deals.

      https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/tag/holiday-2017/%3C/a%3E%3Cbr /> https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/tag/black-friday-2017/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

While I would say that if I were spending $600 on a combo kit, I’d try to find a combo or deal that featured the newer models. But that being said, I can’t find a better deal than the combo kit you linked to.

M18 Fuel tools are rarely heavily discounted.

Another option would be to look for a combo kit, or kits that fit your needs, and see what kinds of Black Friday or Cyber Monday dollar-off or percent-off deals might apply.
