In this post, I’ll highlight some bargains hand-picked for the DIY users, and maybe beginner woodworkers.
With sales and promos like this one, after finding that nothing on your tool or supply shopping list is on sale, there’s always the question of “where do I start?!”

Hopefully my work to sort through the deals has helped – you will find some of those links at the end of the post. But here, we’re just going to focus on what I consider to be 6 DIY must-haves.

Skil Cordless Screwdriver with Pivoting Head – under $20
Cordless screwdrivers are great to have. Do you need one? Probably not. Will you be glad to have one? Almost definitely.
This one features a built-in battery with USB-C charging, a 3-postion pivoting head to help you out in tight spots, 3 torque settings, and LED worklight. Yes, there are better tools, but not at anywhere close to this price point ($18 and change at the time of this posting).
Bosch Pocket Laser Distance Measuring Tool – $34.99

You probably have a tape measure already. If not, I’m trying this one out thanks to a Prime Day 20% coupon.
Bosch’s GLM100 laser distance measurer is excellent. It’s a minimal too for point to point measurements, with intuitive controls and specs that bests the competition. Amazon has it for $5 less than its typical promo price.
While I don’t use mine all of the time, I am glad I bought one and vehemently recommend it. This should be a part of every home tool kit once you have your necessities covered.
Worx Pegasus 2-in-1 Folding Work Table – ~$104
This is a solid choice for portable worktable. It’s easy to use, folds down for storage, and has positive reviews. If you buy a pair, you get double the work surface and they can also be used as sawhorses.
Kreg K4 Pocket Hole Jig – $69
Pocket holes, love them or hate them, are sometimes the easiest way to join two piece of wood or sheet goods together, especially if you can’t yet justify or budget the expense for the tools and clamps required for other methods.
When I started out with pocket holes, I bought an inexpensive Kreg jig. While it works okay, this setup looks to offer a lot more convenience. Kreg has some newer models, but they’re considerably more expensive.
It looks like this set is regularly $99 (compare it at Home Depot).

I know, I know, “I already have a flashlight on my phone.” Sure, go ahead and use your $1000 smartphone while crawling on the floor looking for a dropped screw. Everyone should have a reliable flashlight – here are 3 that I own and recommend.
The Microstream wouldn’t be my first choice for a USB-rechargeable flashlight, but it’s well-made and a good choice for the money. If you want something different, there are some more USB-rechargeable flashlight deals for Prime Day.
Dewalt 21pc Pilot Point TiN Drill Bit Set – $20.99
Dewalt 14pc Drill Bit Set – $9.98
There’s no reason to settle for garbage quality drill bits when you can get Dewalt sets in nice cases at these prices.
While they’re not industrial grade quality, I confidently use these for most kinds of drilling tasks. I bought two more of the 14pc set last month.
The only reason I didn’t buy the 21pc set is because I have been babying the Dewalt 29pc set (compare via Amazon, via Home Depot) I bought a few years ago. I also have industrial drill bits for more critical projects.

I too will kick in my recomendation of the Kreg K4. I’ve used a number of different Kreg pocket hole jigs, and I would say the K4 is the best compromise of reliability and ease of use.
The standalone jigs (those which don’t have a built in clamp) have their uses, but aren’t great if you need to make the same pocket holes repeatedly. Fiddling with clamping your work and keeping a clear spot on your work surface is very tedious with the smaller less expensive jigs.
The more expensive jigs have built in clamps, and those promoted above the K4 have ratcheting clamps which seek to eliminate adjusting for drilling depth and adjusting tightness of the clamping. My experience with these has been mixed, in particular the ratcheting clamping mechanisms. I’ve had one completely fail on me where the clamp no longer functioned (after not much use mind you) and another (the Kreg 720) which I would describe as “finnicky”. The automatic depth setting works great, but the ratcheting clamp is still a weak point. It never seems to apply the right amount of clamping force, even adjusting the clamping force doesn’t seem to remedy the problem. It’s either so tight that I feel I would damage the jig, or tight enough to get the job done, but not so tight that I feel like I could take my hand off the work.
I still have my K4 as a backup because despite its lack of convenience features, it has simple rock solid mechanisms backing up its function. Manually set the hole depth with a captive pin and sliding the hole guide, manually set the clamping depth and force with a screw adjusted clamp face.

Testing the link in an incognito window, I DO see the same as you. I’ve never seen that before. But when I sign in, I see it in stock at the promo price.
I wonder if this is because the deal appears to be via 3rd party seller, or it could be how they do things for certain Prime-exclusive deals.
If you’re a Prime subscriber, do you see purchase details when signed in?

Thanks for the replies. I’m checking on a laptop and not a Prime Member. So I guessing it’s a Prime related issue.

One more anomaly. On my laptop, I clicked all the other links. I see the items on Amazon at the price listed in this article. The only one that doesn’t work is the Kreg. Strange indeed.

What I’ve come to dislike about the Dewalt cases is the drill bits don’t stay snugly in the case holes, they end up rattling around and falling out when I open the case. Maybe there is some trick to it I haven’t figured out. I have a set similar to the 21 pierce TiN set, just that the lid is yellow not transparent.
