Over at Acme Tools, they’ve got a new 10% off coupon code, valid 6/29 thru 6/30/21, where you save on $249+ purchases.
There are the typical brand exclusions, but an unusually few number of tool and SKU exclusions. The individual tool exclusions mostly involve current “special buy” tools and ongoing deals.

There are some notable brands missing from the exclusions list, such as Powermatic and Jet!
The discount works on Milwaukee Packout tool storage (there is also a PACKOUT code on $300+ orders ending soon too). If you’re more a fan of yellow, the STARS10 also works on Dewalt ToughSystem 2.0 tool storage products.
Cordless power tools, outdoor power tools, accessories, storage, and more – save on everything!
While not the best coupon I’ve ever seen from Acme Tools, this is the biggest discount they’ve offered in a while, and with far fewer exclusions than usual.
The maximum discount is $100.
Coupon Code: STARS10

You get free ground shipping on $199+ orders.
They still have the Dewalt $99 cordless sander kit special buy in stock – buy it here.
If you’re on the fence about anything, the STARS10 discount code ends 6/30/21, giving you some time to think it over.
If you pass on this deal entirely, don’t worry, I’m sure something similar will come around in the future, although it’s uncertain how long you might have to wait. Last year’s Labor Day promo was a similar 10% off $249+ offer.

Hey Stu/everyone I think I’m gonna get a track saw and this coupon seems like a great opportunity. Do you have any thoughts on Makita vs Kreg for that? Looks like Acme also carries Dewalt cordless but I dont have any Dewalt cordless.
I know the Makita is a classic, and I got an old makita miter saw still trusty and true, but I like how the Kreg has a riving knife.
Thanks for the great blog

Not Stuart, but I own the Makita track saw. Its probably the single reason I’m in the Makita platform, though they also have a pretty good impact driver and the sub-compact tools are nice.
The saw is great, and the tracks are compatible with festool accessories, which is nice. I broke down ~40 sheets of advantech OSB with the saw and it was pretty easy. I haven’t used the Kreg, so I can’t comment on that one, but I did compare it to the dewalt saw when I was looking at which platform I would be in. I think the Makita is overall superior to the dewalt flexvolt. A Concord Carpenter on Youtube had a pretty good comparison of popular track saws, though I don’t think I remember the Kreg being on the list…

Hey Andrew, two main differences between the Kreg and the Makita. The Makita is cordless, while the Kreg isn’t. Conversely, if you spend a little money and buy into the whole Kreg ACS (Adaptive Cutting System) it functions very similarly to a Festool Track Saw/MFT (MultiFunction Table) combo. It’s meant to be able to setup repeatable cuts and consistently cut angles.
So if it were me, the question would be how am I going to use it. If you’re just going to be breaking down sheet goods to a 1/16″ of an in and not care about trying to cut finished parts with it (i.e. use the table saw for final dimensioning) then the Makita would probably win out just for the convenience of the cordless. If you’re wanting to consistently batch cut larger parts to final dimension then the Kreg ACS might be worth a look, especially if you don’t have a reliable table saw.
Stuart
I like the Makita track saw a lot, although the 18V X2 battery configuration can be a hassle.
There are occasional promos where you get free bonus batteries.
Chris
I ordered the Makita track saw (plug-in) and it’s great. Biggest issue with any Kreg gear is they use proprietary sizes, so you have to stick with their tracks, etc. Makita’s saw is the same dimensions as Festool, so you can use Festool and the cheaper PowerTec guide rails to build what ever size cut you want.

Would of ordered $300+ of packout if the stars discount worked with the packout discount. The days of promo combos are long gone and the reason why I order most from HD because their coupons work on top of deals.
Tom D
HD seems addicted to sending 10% coupons if you use their card and they stack with the special of the day deals. It’s nice.

How is a $25 off $250 a great deal? Not that long ago, so many brands at $25 off $100 purchase deals were aplenty.
Tom D
It’s all about the brands and what it applies to – $25 off $100 on MSRP bare tools isn’t as interesting as 10% combo kits.
Stuart
Only some brands offer occasional $25 off $100 promos, and sometimes they’re only valid on select items with heavy exclusions.
Let’s say you want to buy a $600 cordless combo. $60 is a better discount than $25.
Besides which, are any brands offering $25 off $100 right now?
CoBlue
Bosch currently has $75 off 300 ($20 off 100) at ACME. Only through 6/30. There’s some exclusions, but surprisingly few.
They’ve had similar promos elsewhere recently, though most were not nearly as comprehensive. I think amazon still has a $20 off $100. Home Depot has a $75 off $300. Very nice if one wants the corded track saw and some track.
Stuart
Thanks! Seems I missed that one.

10% off is better than nothing……..but not enough to motivate me.
Stuart
Unfortunately, I don’t see any better discounts coming around until at least November.
Even then, there’s no guarantee the max discount will be the same $100 and won’t be less (such as $50).
I see this discount as a “I was going to buy something next week/month, but ooh, I’ll move it up to save money” type of promo.

I think at this point I’m good through Black Friday. Haven’t seen any worthwhile sales that scream “stellar deal!” for quite some time.

The only reason to buy online or in a store is you need something now.
Instead, buy from local liquidators.
You will find stuff +50% off all the time. I just bought a Ryobi RY48111 38″ 100ah battery mower ($2999 in HD) for $1100 and it was brand new (had to unpackage it from the pallet myself). Also 2 New M12 propex expansion tool kits for $200 each. DeWalt cordless mower $150. All new.
Look around on Facebook marketplace, OfferUp, even craigslist.
Jared
Not really the best place to fit this, but $30 off $150 for a bunch of Bosch on Amazon Canada right now – not sure what the occasion is.
