Acme Tools Halloween 2018 Tool Sale

Over at Acme Tools, they have a Halloween Sale going on, thru 10/31/2018. Now through then, save 10% on “most orders.”

There are a bunch of brand and specific tool exclusions. And, there is bound to be an equal or better discount in just a few weeks, for Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

So why post about it? Well, sometimes you might need a new tool NOW. And if so, this discount might help you out a little bit.

Also, for new preorder items that might be eligible for the deal, the sooner you place an order, the earlier you are in the fulfillment list. I tested the coupon code, and it worked on the new and upcoming Dewalt and Milwaukee releases that I tried.

Max discount is $150.

Coupon Code: SCARYGOOD

I’ve seen this trend of offering more and more deals in the run-up to the Christmas buying season expanding. The idea is to get you to buy “early and often” – with a string of “sales” starting with Labor-Day – then Columbus Day then Veterans Day – now adding Halloween (over the last few years being promoted as a major holiday), then Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I expect that Election Day might be get added in next. Buying gifts – and getting a bargain to boot – can be nice unless the whole affair becomes some perversion of wasteful spending.

But as you say – if buying out of necessity – then 10% off might be OK

I always stay up the night before Groundhogs day in anticipation of the Punxsutawney Phil flash sales.

But like fred said, they’re carpet bombing with their holiday deals hoping they hit something via over saturation. If you NEED a tool right now, saving a little is better than full retail.

I’m at the point now that I won’t buy any cordless tools unless its a combo kit below normal pricing with extra batteries included. One of the reasons my cordless stuff is Makita is their holiday sales are the best value. I’m still kicking myself in the ass for not buying the Makita X2 10″ miter saw after Christmas last year, when it was on sale at my local HD for $299 with 4(!!!) 5ah batteries and dual charger. If it rolls around again this year, I’m gonna have to get one. I have a 14″ Hitachi, 12″ Dewalt, 10″ Dewalt and a cordless 10″ Milwaukee. It just seems wrong not to have Makita represented.

Damn Todd that a lot of chop/miter saws!? That makita deal sounds amazing!? The tools aren’t even the expensive part imo, I know a lot about batteries. Those are what are the pocket killers! $250 for a 12 ah Milwaukee battery is…freaking crazy!? I wish I could buy the shell & boards together (empty) then ill choose the best 18650s (I would honestly be grabbing 20700 or 21700 if I had a choice! Their sheer mA capacity blows 18650s out of the water! & Only a few mm larger) and load the battery pack up myself! But I’m wishing on a moon I feel like. ?

Right now my # 1 purchase for the holiday sale season is finding the Dewalt Flexvolt 12″ dual bevel sliding compound miter saw on sale w/ a/c adapter & 2x 12 ah 20/flexvolt batteries! I see it with a/c adapter only on eBay ect. For under $500 & 2x 9.0ah flex volts, charger No a/c adapter for a little over $600 which isn’t bad but isn’t cheap enough for me to pull the trigger!

I feel your pain on the Makita X2 10″ from last year. Particularly since they had a similar deal on the Makita track saw I had just bought a few months earlier. ::cry::

The system of planned replacement every 3 months due to new products being junk. Is broken. Please some one some where. Return to making quality built to last stuff.

This system of planned failure after minimal use is killing everything. Old flip phones still work. So do old guns. And old tools. Its always the new stuff that is broken

This holiday sales blitz is part of the buy now buy often cuz its gonna break tomorrow culture.

I think that a lot of people tend to hold off on spending ahead of the holiday season, holding off for good deals, and so some retailers are trying to offer good deals before then.

There are times when I can wait for a seasonal promo, other times I can’t.

I have a cart of Flambeau tool boxes totaling $160, and abandoned it so that I can wait for a Black Friday 15% coupon similar to last year. Since I don’t need them immediately, I’ll hold out a few weeks to save $24.

But if I needed them for a project now, 10% would be more appreciated than having to pay full price.

With these trends, part of me wonders if it’s a shotgunning effort to try to increase sales over this period. But I also know that there’s a lot of data that could go into the decisions. Purchasing behaviors speak loudly.

I don’t post about every deal I come across, even over the holiday season, but there are times when the voice in my head reminds me that some tools are purchased for hobby use on a more relaxed schedule, while others are purchased as needed, at whatever price.
