From what I’m seeing in my inbox and social media feeds, AI has taken some of the fun and surprise out of April Fools Day. Still, there are some interesting fake products out there. Here’s a look at the ones that caught my attention.
Let’s start off with Lisle’s toolbox toothbrush.

Here’s the Wera Tool circle, which is said to rotate around you. Those triangular spaces in between tool sets might work well with parts trays.

Ryobi came up with an mobile AI generated tennis ball launcher.

And a coffee maker – no wait – countertop pet food dispensers? Ah, that makes sense, it’s a fake “PetPRO” lineup.

The Festool massager, to release tension after you’ve given them all your money.

Knipex came up with an adjustable strength hand exerciser.

Stabila adamantium level, for maximum durability.

Rich Trumka, a US CPSC Commissioner who had a lot to say about SawStop-like table saw safety, put out this gag recall about the “Trumka Stashifier Pacifier.”

Hazet lobster eating tools.

Metabo rotary hammer – full power for your performance. Wait a second – this one’s real. Social media algorithms…

Ridgid flushable wipes. Ha – flushable wipes and hygiene products are among the biggest jokes in plumbing.

Knipex makes jokes about a diaper bag, but tool bags are fantastic for this.

IQ water saw. I don’t get it.

Transformers cologne, from Hasbro. “More than meets the nose.”

Greenlee mini tools – “for your needs on and off the jobsite” such as “pulling cable up to 10,000 lbs or flossing your teeth.”

IDEAL electrical energy drink.
Have you seen others? Which is your favorite?

We chuckle, but I would not be surprised to see Ryobi launch pet-related products

Dewalt has a new spatula. If I knew how to send a picture I would. Think it’s on reddit.

Not tool related, but the James Reeves Sub-compact shorts from 5.11 Tactical (4/1/2023) is the best fake product ad I’ve ever seen. Look it up on YouTube.
Also, I really want the Knipex Fitness Grip Trainer. Like, right now.

This was a great laugh. Thanks for making my April Fools Day
Robert
Are you sure the Transformers are not supposed to mimic a 3D printer?
Too bad Wera isn’t giving that massive set away as a promotion.
Speaking of Rich Trumka/CPCS and Sawstop, is that tablesaw protection rule dead now?
Stuart
Those are perfume bottles.
There haven’t been any updates or movements on the SawStop tech ruling in about a year. https://www.regulations.gov/docket/CPSC-2011-0074/document?sortBy=postedDate

The IQ saws are famous for using vacuum dust extraction, no water. It’s their whole thing as a company, I’d say. I’d seriously consider those Knipex hand trainers if they were on the market!

This is not an April Fool’s joke, but when I first spotted it I thought it easily could be:
https://www.jimbodetools.com/products/remarkable-paul-hamler-miniature-vise-grips-90574
Lee Valley / Veritas have had some funny ones in the past, like their double-blind mitered finger joint jig and the “dodeca gauge”
D3t
That price could be the joke.
KokoTheTalkingApe
I miss the Lee Valley ones. Even the old ones are gone from their website, looks like.

I looked twice but couldn’t find today’s/this year’s.

The Hazet lobster eating tools is a joke BUT: I once went to a crab feed fundraiser with a relative, and we didn’t realize it was a BYOU (Bring Your Own Utensil) deal.
Fortunately, there were a couple of full sized Leatherman tools in the truck. And they worked really well! Other attendees thought we brought them on purpose.
So maybe Hazet is on to something 😏

I use tooth brushes frequently to clean engine blocks and transmissions. I would easily buy an electric one designed for automotive uses. It would need to have replaceable heads with multiple bristle options.
Wayne R.
I think it was on Imgur, but someone hot-glued a couple of toothbrush heads to the flat of an oscillating saw blade. But really, could attach any kind of brush to one of those things with a couple of nuts & bolts…

Ryobi are always great because it’s never too far off

The Wera Tool Circle got an audible chuckle from me.
Trumka’s post seems a little cringeworthy and self-important to me, but that may be affected by my opinion of his efforts at promoting a Saw Stop monopoly.

Couple good ones in there, I got the best laugh out of the Trumka mustache pacifier.
It is almost surprising none of the brands have released a pet line, bet that would be successful for Ryobi if they did.
JoeM
I miss the Lee Valley and ThinkGeek (May they Rest In Power, Having Been Slaughtered By GameStop Without Honour.) joke pages. At least some of those things became real due to demand. And the production value of the joke images was significantly higher. These all seem to just be someone cheating with Image Generation.
Nathan
Knipex hand exerciser I would consider. The wera tool circle was hilarious
Amazed nobody’s done that before
Also Cadbury has one. On the goo. Cadbury creame egg sauce packet
F
Harbor Freight builds huge tool factory in the USA. To make Icon, Hercules, and Bauer tool lines.
Michael F
The Hazet one is kind of funny because only the type who can afford to eat lobster daily can afford Hazet tools.
JJ
I’m so sad the Ryobi pet products aren’t real. And I’d totally buy the Knipex gripex.
Jason
The SawStop one is really childish… not a great look for the brand (and I say this with two of their table saws in my shop)
Big Richard
There is no SawStop one. There was one done by a CSPS commissioner Rich Trumka where he pokes fun at himself. And as Toolguyd mentioned he has said a lot about saw safety in the past, but the ad has nothing to do with SawStop.
Stuart
Maybe he’s talking about something else he saw?

I’m still waiting for my Klein Tools Re-Klining lounge chair with a built-in linesman bucket and attachments for the KNECT systems
