Best Tool Deals for March 2021

Mar 8, 2021 Stuart 23 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

Types of Tool Deals to Expect This Month

Below is a rundown of the best tool deals for March 2021 that we have come across so far.

Winter is almost over, and although most northern parts of the country are still only starting to thaw out, tool brands and retailers will especially be focusing on outdoor power tools.

Discounts and coupons on lawn and garden tools often focus on handheld cordless tools, such as string trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws. There are usually some deals on mowers, but the bigger and broader discounts tend to appear later in the season.

We’re also right between the winter holiday shopping season and Father’s Day, and so brands and retailers will be offering “buy this, get that” and “buy more, save more” types of promos to help drive sales.

About This Post

Online retailers tend to have many different types of tool deals at any given time, and I’ve tried to cherry-pick the best of them to feature here.

I have also included links to the respective retailers’ deals sections in case you want a glance at some of their other tool deals and promos.

We typically post about the best tool deals in separate posts, but there are lots of other promos that deserve some attention. I figured that even if I don’t have a lot to say about these tool deals in their own posts, they’re still worth sharing.

The best tool deals and discounts will receive direct links.

Everyone’s needs and wants are different, and the best tool deals are the ones that saves you money. I won’t be listing everything here, but if you feel a particular deal should be included, please let me know in a comment and I can add it in.

I’ll update this post throughout the month in case the deals change or new promos come up.

Why these retailers? We have affiliate relationships with many tool retailers, meaning we earn a small commission for purchases made through certain links. Rather than share deals and links to every retailer, I focus on my personal go-to retailers, the ones that provide the best shopping experiences.

If you have any suggestions as to if or how we can make this post and potential follow-ups more helpful, please let me know!

Home depot has a crazy deal on Ridgid batteries and charger, 61% off. You have to do a little digging to find it.

Thanks! I added this to the post. I saw your email the other day and have been looking into it. Ridgid just announced new Max Output batteries, and it’s unclear how they might be different than these.

I’m hoping to find a deal on a *corded* Makita track saw. Another option would be that Milwaukee comes out with a cordless version ASAP.

    Any word? Rumors?

Nothing yet. Most brands are focused on cordless these days, and so new corded developments are not as likely.

The ISOTunes at ToolNut doesn’t seem to show any discount. Is there a code I’m missing? Thanks!

I tested it and the discount appears at checkout. In your cart, the summary shows the automatically-applied discount and then the final order amount. No code is needed. It’s said to work on select items so I added the link to the post.

Please let me know if the discount doesn’t show up properly.

Thank you! It’s all working now. FYI for anyone needing a pair, Acme Tools is much cheaper for the pair I was looking at. $50 vs $76.49 for the orange Pros. Thanks for the help, Stuart!

I’ve gotten a few email recently:

Menards has a 11% off deal – but it looks to be a rebate to be used on future purchases:

HNS Tools (carries lots of Klein items) is doing a 15% off on Madi tools (look to be aimed at linemen) – using code MADINESS

Grizzly says that all their metalworking tools are on sale with savings up to $500

Menards has been running that 11% for a few weeks now, so it may go for a another week or two before they have a big spring sale.. If you have have a Home Depot within a certain amount of miles of a Menards, they offer an 11% rebate match, see here for details:

      https://www.homedepotrebates11percent.com/#/home

Also for those in the Midwest, Fleet Farm has a 12% discount on buy online pick up in store, also in response to Menards current 11% reabte offer.

Lowes has four of the Dewalt Xtreme 12volt Max tools on sale now until 4/28. Each deal is for $99 and includes two, 2Ah batteries, charger, tool and a bag; with the exception of the Recip saw, which is the bare tool only. The deal sweetener is that each of these come with a “Free Gift with Purchase.” The free gift is the new Dewalt 12v Max 5Ah battery, DCB126. Each deal is decent on its own, at about 30% off, without the free battery, a $79 value that brings your savings to ~ 55%.
For most of these tools I would prefer the free gift to be two of the 3Ah batteries, DCB124-2, but the added value is appreciated.

I saw this earlier today and was interested. Unfortunately the site won’t allow you to check out as the 5 ah batteries are not in stock.

You can choose a store that has them in stock and do an in-store pick up though. I had to choose a different store than my regular store to get mine. Had to drive an extra 20 mins or so, but worth it I guess.

I didn’t see them in stock anywhere. Just assumed they hadn’t been released yet. Good to know they do exist.

These tool companies pricing gets on my nerves sometimes. Example: Packout mounting plate was 19.98 for quite awhile. I assumed that was the new regular price. Now their back to the original $29.99. Same with the Packout regular toolbox, held at $59.99 for a long time. Now the price has reverted back to the 79.99 original.

Brands have been very aggressive with modular tool box and accessory pricing during holiday shopping seasons.

It can be frustrating, but it works. I bought a lot more Packout products in November and December than I would have at regular pricing, or if the low price was always available.

    Any advice on cordless trimmers?

Generally, the 18V/20V Max models are well-suited for most tasks, but higher voltage and larger battery system platforms tend to offer greater cutting capacity, longer runtime, or both. But, the higher voltage cordless string trimmers and other such tools tend to be larger, heavier, and pricier. It really depends on intended use.

For brands, Milwaukee M18, Ego, and Dewalt are safe bets. For Dewalt, FlexVolt options offer more performance than 20V Max.

If you have mostly power tools and don’t expect to need a lot of outdoor tools, then sticking the same battery system makes sense. In my case, I’ve been very happy with my 22″ 18V Ryobi hedge trimmer (it’s the only cordless OPE I own). It only gets occasional use, but so far has trimmed hedges, and chopped up branches for the compost bin without problems.

Bought a CMCST910M1 from Craftsman at Lowe’s. This is the “longest” one they make and it is still too short, and I’m not even in the Five-10 club. As an occasional user at about once a month through the summer months, it’s fine. Goes through a 4Ah battery in 30 minutes if I have a lot of cutting, otherwise typically takes about 60 minutes to go through the same battery. Plus you know you want the chainsaw so if you don’t get this battery system at least get a system that does. 😉

HD’s buy more/save more on Milwaukee convinced me to pick up the M18 Gen2 brad nailer (2746) which I have been eyeing for a while. $279 normally. I wanted to give one as a gift so getting two knocked off almost 30%, getting them down to about $200/each. Still a lot of money but 30% is pretty significant, and the nailer is as awesome as I hoped it would be.
