Black Decker Matrix 6-Tool Combo Set BDCDMT1206KITC

Black & Decker’s Matrix lineup of modular power tool bases and heads, as well as the compatible Craftsman Bolt-On System, are a great way for DIYers to get a lot of power tool functionality for not a lot of money.

Black & Decker has come out with a new 6-tool combo kit (BDCDMT1206KITC), seemingly just in time for the 2014 Black Friday and holiday shopping season.

It’s currently priced at $203 (this might change), and comes with a 20V Max cordless base handle, a charger, a storage case, and the following tool head attachments:

  • Drill/driver
  • Sander
  • Jig saw
  • Oscillating multi-tool
  • Router
  • Impact Driver

There are also a bunch of starter accessories included in the bundle.

I’m a dedicated tools kind of person, but this seems like a nice money-saving bundle for DIYers and homeowners looking for maximum bang for the buck.

I have limited experiences with the Black & Decker Matrix and Craftsman Bolt-On tools, but they’ve all been positive. If you look at the various B&D Matrix tools and attachments on Amazon (search link), you’ll see that most users’ have good things to say about the tools.

These are all basic tools, but a lot of times that’s all a beginner or budget-conscious DIYer needs.

My guess is that the new availability of this combo indicates that it might be timed for the holidays, but maybe not. It’s currently listed as being out of stock.

I think the kit shod have included the recip saw or circular saw instead of router, as well as another battery or one of the hard to come by 4aH batteries.

There was display in Lowes yesterday that had all the accessories for $20. Wel l most accessories. And don’t forget sears is launching more heads for this, such as wrench, scissors, few others. Also, if you want a metal drill chuck, pick up the 2-speed hammer drill head. Little longer, but worth the speed

I like my set that I have, but I also have the plug in sears base as the batteries arent the fastest at charging. Used the drill & impact the most, but the circular saw has Come in the handiest. so much easier to cut something in an awkward space that with a traditional sized unit.

No dewalt or Milwaukee, but better than most around the home budget crap.

I briefly had just the drill when there was a <$40 reconditioned sale through Ebay early this year. I was pretty impressed with the power of the tool and liked the fact that the charger was tiny (probably because it was not a fast charger), but it definitely could put out the sparks from the brushes. I'd not hesitate to recommend it to a casual user, considering the versatility of the multiple attachments on top of what is a pretty powerful motor for the price.
