Sears, Home Depot, and Lowes all put together a special value cordless drill/driver kit as a Black Friday doorbuster and weekend sale item. These drills are about as no-frills as you can get and include the bare-minumum of features. The Craftsman and Ryobi models come with NiCad battery packs and the Black & Decker a Li-ion battery.

We’re not recommending these models, but if you only have $40 to spend on a cordless drill, these models are about the best you can get. And if they don’t live up to your potential? All three retailers usually have very lenient satisfaction-guaranteed return policies.
Update: If you have $10 more to spend, there’s also a Craftsman 19.2V Li-ion drill kit on sale, for $50.

I like those, I think I will go for the Lithium Ion one as I’ve heard the batteries hold their charge better and last longer. Is that true?
