Bosch released new 18V drills and hammer drills a few months ago and very recently announced a new compact 12V hammer drill. But what’s this – an 18V compact 3/8″ hammer drill?
The new HDB180 hammer drill deliver 360 in-lbs of max torque, weighs 3.2 lbs and has a head-length of 8″. It features a 2-speed 0-500/0-1450 can gearbox, 0-21000 BPM hammer mechanism, keyless chuck, 15+1 clutch settings, and can drive 160 3″ screws per charge. Included in the HDB180-02 kit are two 18V batteries and a 45-minute charger.

To compare, the new hammer drill is 36% more powerful than the upcoming 12V PS130, only 60% as powerful as Bosch’s 18V Compact Tough model HDS181 (details are listed in our Bosch drill spec guide), not to mention slightly longer and barely lighter, and its slim batteries take 45-minutes to charge instead of the usual 30.

While we feel the PS130 and HDS181 may be better options, the HDB180 seems to be a reasonable compromise in terms of size, power, and price.
