Bosch 12V Max EC Brushless Drill Driver PS32

After a short break for the holidays, we are resuming our Giveaway Bonanza, and will be offering quite a few new tools for you to enter to win!

We decided to kick off Part 2 of the giveaway series with some excitement by giving away a brand new Bosch brushless cordless drill, driver, or impact kit!

The Prize: Your choice from among Bosch’s newest 12V and 18V cordless drills, drivers, and impact wrenches:

  • 18V drill/driver DDS182
  • 18V hammer drill/driver HDS182
  • 18V 1/2″ compact impact wrench IWBH182BL
  • 18V hybrid Impactor 1/4″ hex + 1/2″ square IDH182
  • 12V Max drill/driver PS32
  • 12V Max 1/4″ hex driver PS22

One lucky receive will receive their choice of Bosch cordless drill or driver kit AND a nice assortment of fitting Bosch power tool accessories.

Why? I am a big fan of Bosch and heavily favor their 12V and 18V cordless tools and am very excited about their upcoming brushless drills and drivers. I use a nice selection of Bosch drill bits, screwdriver bits, and impact bits, and have never been disappointed with their performance either.

With this giveaway, one lucky winner will be among the very first to get their hands on the latest and greatest in cordless drill and driver technology.

The new brushless technology means the new tools will be smaller, more efficient, and longer running compared to brushed motor models. Bosch’s 12V and 18V cordless drills and drivers are pretty darned good (and my personal favorites), and I expect for the upcoming brushless models to be even better.

Choices: The winner will receive their choice of drill or driver kit and Bosch will select an assortment of tools to accompany the prize. If only bare tools are available, a Li-ion battery starter pack will be included so that the winner will receive a complete kit.

How to Enter: Leave a comment below with a brief note about what types of tasks you would you use your chosen prize for. Or simply tell us why you want to win these tools.

Winner Selection: (1) winner will be selected at random.

Rules: You must have a non-PO Box continental USA address. Entry period ends Friday January 24th, 2014. One entry per person.

Prize Fulfillment: Bosch is supplying the product for the giveaway and will ship the prize package to the winner. Fulfillment will be done once the tools are available, which is expected to be February 2014.

Without a doubt, I would be highly interested in the new 18V hybrid Impactor 1/4″ hex + 1/2″ square IDH182. I think that just might be a game changer in being able to combine those tools together. Sure, you lose some functionality both directions, but if you really need more torque for your impact wrench, you are going to want to get a more appropriate model (high torque). It would be amazing to cut those tools in half for me while adding this to my current Bosch 18v setup! Talk about a giveaway bonanza, Stuart – this is YONKERS!

I am also a big fan of the 12V line of tools simply because they pack a lot of power into a small tool. I am glad to see they are adding a couple new tools this year to expand the line. Also I will be getting the PS22 when it comes out just so my PS21 can feel bad about not having a fuel meter like all of his siblings.

The Hex/Square Impactor is a cool idea. Able to use for normal driving tasks using the 1/4″ hex and then the 1/2″ square drive would come in handy when I take the snow tires off the cars.

I’ve been using Bosch PST 14.4v for quite a long time as a general use light drill and damn, it needs an upgrade. Also, recently I seem to be in demand outside my place of residence, small things need to be done here and there and I suppose that it would be easier to carry a small drill like that to the location than carry a goddamned door to my house. Besides I really want to step up to the li-ion theme, those nicad’s are giving me hell sometimes.

My PS21 has become my favorite cordless tool for a multitude of projects. I have a 15-year old 12V P-C driver/drill that I’ve been debating about rebuilding the tired batteries. The cost is nearly the same as buying a Bosch drill/driver PS32 to replace it with. A fresh PS32 would solve my dilemma and free up some funds to put the old P-C back in service for another decade and keep it off a scrapheap.

In addition to ongoing maintenance and repair projects around the house, I am gearing up to build a timber-frame shed at our sustainably-managed tree farm this summer. The DDS182 or HDS182 would mean not having to fire up the generator every time we need to drill holes to cut a mortise or to set pegs at the raising: freeing us from the drudgery of brace-and bit. The hammer drill would even extend that to masonry and concrete for the foundations. Thanks for this great series of giveaways, Stuart.

I have been selling off my old Craftsman 19.2v because the NiCd batteries were dying and I didn’t really like their Li-ion offerings. I bought the Bosch 12V drill and impactor that I love and combined it with some corded drills and saws which caused me to stop using the Crafstman set. I have been very interested in the dual hex driver and 1/2″ impactor to fill the need for driving bigger fasteners and automotive work. Though I might also need a drill for bigger hole saws and augers that wont fit in the 12v.

This is my go-to drill/driver at work as a maintenance technician at a private college. Co-workers have been impressed when I use masonry bits with my PS20 to drill holes in concrete for an anchor to hang pictures. I recently bought a Bosch 18V Drill/driver set, but I don’t find myself needing them much as my PS20 does what I need “for the most part”.
I am definitely a fan of Bosch since they fixed the reverser switch on my corded hammer drill, which I dropped from a ladder, for FREE.

My workspace is extremely limited and it seems to me that Bosch products stand above the competition when it comes to integrated tool/accessory storage. With many other brands, storage of the tool and accessory parts seems to be an afterthought at best.

Having been so happy with Bosch corded tools, I would like to have an opportunity to use their cordless 18V drill/driver.

I had to drill a bunch of holes through what was supposed to be 3-4 inches of concrete this fall, that turned out to be 7+ inches thick. Not only did I have to buy a longer hammerdrill bit to get through, but when I got done my hammerdrill didn’t seem the same anymore. This was one of those projects where I had only so long to complete, and ran it too hard. It got hot enough I couldn’t hold my hand on it, but it held together to finish the job. A new hammerdrill would have a home In my tool cabinet, and maybe give me a reason to upgrade to a new heavy duty lithium tool platform. BTW, the Bosch hammerdrill bits are the best I have used.

Well with my first kid on the way my old 1848 cape needs to have insulation in the walls, which needs to be done room, by room and I’d like to build some furniture for my new baby as well.

I purchased my 1/2″ Metabo Impact Wrench and a Wera 1/2″ to 1/4″ split chuck adapter instead of buying the impact gun and impact wrench. Only problem is that if your not paying attention or used to it, at anything more than the lowest setting on any kind of small deck/drywall/wood screws, you snap them half the time. Then again my Metabo can dish out more torque than the IDH182 and that’s not even the brushless model. The brushless model has 1000 more in-lbs than the bosch.

Well, I’ve already got the non-brushless Bosch impact driver and impact wrench, so I guess I’d need to go for the 18v hammer drill. I’ve been doing some improvements around the house, and a hammer drill will come in handy for drilling into all the brick they built this place with.

But darn is the dual-purpose impactor a neat tool.

    I’d love to get a 12V Max 1/4″ hex driver (PS22)!
I would use it everywhere around the house and in my backyard for fastening and drilling purposes.

I had the previous model, PS21, but unfortunately forgot it on the top of my work table in my basement workshop during the April 2013 Illinois flood. I thought the water level would never get near the table top, but we ended up with 42″ of water in the basement… Man, how many tools I lost that day… The driver was underwater for over 3 hours, but had miraculously survived and worked fine until October. Then it gave up the ghost and even thorough cleaning could not resuscitate it.

I’ve been thinking about buying a new PS21 ever since. I didn’t even know the new model was coming out! I’ll be really happy to have it.

I’d probably go for the 12V PS32. I already have a 19.2V drill and driver and frankly they’re physically too big for some jobs. I spent a week sistering some joists in the attic and crawlspace and there were a number of times where the drill+screws simply wouldn’t fit between the newly-strengthened joists. So I’ve been eyeing the smaller 12V gear.

Added a couple of the new high capacity batteries for Christmas and have been impressed. I’ve really been wanting the compact drill with the standard chuck. The quick change chuck just has too much play for accurate hole drilling, and greatly reduces the number of bits I can use. I have a really nice set of Lenox varibits that I can’t use because my compact drill lacks the standard chuck.

Well, I just pulled the permit for a 500 s.f. bedroom addition a month ago, i drew the plans myself and got them through plan check as an owner builder. I got the materials delivered three weeks ago and everything is covered in plastic waiting for me to dig a footing. And to top everything off my wife and I had a beautiful baby boy two weeks ago. He was the reason for the bedroom addition. My wife was hoping it would be done before he was here, but little did she know about the timeline of drawing plans and going through plan check. So here i am with a 500 s.f. bedroom to build, by myself I might add, and a two week old baby boy, and I have no 18 volt tools. I know i am ill prepared. I do have a full lineup of DeWalt 12 volt tools and a corded 3/8 drill. Other than this project my 12 volt tools are fine for doing stuff around the house and installing cabinets and such, but 18 volt tools would be extremely helpful for this project. Oh yeah I forgot to mention this will be a raised subfloor, all screws baby, and lots of them.

In the immediate now there’s that bathroom renovation I need to get going on, the fiberglass walls for the shower/tub unit will need some TLC via holesaw to fit our plumbing, and any tile needs thinset mixed. I’ve done thinset with a PS20 before using a small paint mixer (I only mix about a gallon at a time) but that’s really pushing that tool. If I manage to get back into the construction trade the HDS182 would be a huge improvement over my old nicad Brute hammerdrill in terms of runtime, light weight, without sacrificing any torque. The PS32 would do all the jobs my PS20 can do in the same sized package but with far greater power and versatility.

My corded 1/2″ drill just gave up the ghost, leaving me with only a 12V drill/driver to work with. A 18V drill/driver is what I’d want to replace it with, and the brushless motor system would give runtimes long enough so I wouldn’t miss the cord. I think the DDS182 would be perfect.

A very hard choice indeed… I currently have the Bosch PS21 and HDB-180.
As a DIYer, battery life is not really a problem for me – I don’t work all day, and two batteries are enough to have one ready at all times. However, upgrading a tool is always welcome.
So – I hardly ever need 1/2″ sockets, so I don’t need an impact wrench, and to be honest I don’t really need an impact driver even though it’s really cool!
The PS21 is my go too for screwdriving and light drilling, as it is light and powerfull enough. The HDB is used mostly for drilling in brick wall and for the few cases I need a little bigger holes.
So which one to upgrade? The go to PS21 or the HDB that is used when something more powerful is necessary? or maybe go for PS32 for easier light drilling?
    Choices, choices….
However, when I think about it, it is quite clear that upgrading the HDB to HDS-182 will give me much more power, and when I use the HDB this is what I need. It will also gain more from the extended battery life, as hammer drilling is hard on the batteries.

So I will vote for the HDB-182 as the best choice for me.

I started my handyman business just over a year ago, and started out with a pair of Hitachi 18v hammer drill/drivers. They have worked out pretty good, but then I found myself in the market for a cordless finish nailer, and purchased the Bosch FNH180KL-16 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 16-Gauge Finish Nailer. I loved the 4 amp battery and the click and go L-Boxx. Then I picked up the Bosch Bare-Tool MXH180BL 18-Volt Brushless Oscillating Tool Kit with L-Boxx-2.

I have since ordered 2 additional 4 amp batteries, an extra charger and a variety of L-Boxxes to organize other tools and small parts. I love the way the Bosch tools perform, and the way I can load and stack the L-Boxxes in my van, stack them on the L-Cart and setup on the job site is half the time.

I would love to replace the Hitachi drivers with the new HDS182-01L 18V EC Brushless Compact Tough™ 1/2″ Hammer Drill/Driver Kit, the DDS182-02L 18V EC Brushless Compact Tough™ 1/2″ Drill/Driver, and the ADS181-101 18V 1/2″ Right Angle Drill.

Do you know anyone in the market for some used Hitachi tools ? 🙂

Getting new counter tops with a under mount farmhouse sink. Adding a double oven and an induction cook top. I have my old TV to mount, and internet cabling. I need a new desk for my home office and I’ll have to disassemble and reassemble every thing I can at the new place. I have a swing set to build from scratch…. the project list goes on and on. I’m actually really interested in the 12v’s. I would like to know exactly how far you can push the 12v’s compared to 18v’s. I would put them to work or at least run them into the ground.

I would use it mostly for driving fasteners but I would still choose the PS32 over the PS22 because of the larger torque output and to have the ability to also drill.
