Over at Home Depot, today’s deal of the day is this Bosch layout and measuring combo kit. It comes with a GLL 2 cross-line laser, and a GLM 30 laser distance measuring tool.
The GLL 2 comes with a mounting accessory. It has a 30′ range and can be used in cross-line, horizontal, and vertical line modes.

The GLM 30 has a 100′ distance measurement range. It’s a compact model that came out not too long ago.
Deal Price: $89
Separately, the GLL 2 is priced at $70, and the GLM 30 $70. $89 for both seems like a good deal on these two laser tools.
I’ve got my hands full this morning, so I can’t do my usual thorough deal eval. But I can say this – if I was looking for a laser distance measuring tool on a budget, I’d be very interested in this combo deal bundle.
I don’t know if that laser distance measuring tool would be my top pick – I’d want something smaller, or perhaps more featured – but it’s hard to argue with the value it adds for discounted cost on top of the line laser.
This looks like a good buy.

I bought the laser measure after u mentioned it a while back . It’s pretty cool . Not sure when I will get a chance to properly use it . In testing it . It is very accurate . At least as accurate as I can read on a tape . U do a good job with this page

Wow, nice find. I love both of these and this sure seems like a deal on the pair. Like ‘The Yeti’, I’ve compared digital measurements with those from my tape measure and it’s been dead-on in my experience. Just be sure that if you’re measuring wall-to-wall that you’re aiming at an equivalent point on the wall. If your angle is off, you’re measuring the hypotenuse of the triangle you’ve created.

Just bought one! Thanks!

I thought this was good when I first looked, but don’t really need a distance measurement tool, and the GLL 2 can be found many places between $50-60

FYI – as I understand it – the Zoro promotion excludes Bosch items.

i would be negligent if i didn’t warn people about my experience with bosch electronics. i have done so on the forum but this is a post that is seen by an audience that is interested in the very genus of bosch device with which i had problems. i bought the bosch glm80 from amazon and it was a mess. for example, it wouldn’t read in inches and feet no matter what you did to coax the shift. the comments section on amazon was something i should have heeded before i clicked purchase. maybe the glm30 will not suffer from bosch’s recent history of wobbly electronics but the caution is still worth mentioning here. ongoing i would like from the folks who purchased the glm30 to see if they have problems with the unit after it has had some use.

I remember your post over on the Forum site and it had me scratching my head about what might be up with some manufacturer’s QA/QC.
I should say that even my much more expensive Disto 810 has a few issues with its design and Leica needs to provide some better instructions / tutorials . Printing out scant instructions from the included disk – did not cut it for me – and it took me days of playing with it and trying to find help on the Internet for me to feel comfortable with the basics. About a year on, I’m now up to speed with most of its features – and my wife loves the help it provides for landscape design. Maybe it should have a warning -“to be sold only to teenage computerized device geeks – not septuagenarians”

hah. yeah, they should make you type in an age before they allow us to proceed. you are most assuredly right that the fully featured laser measuring tools have a real learning curve if you plan to use them beyond point and shoot. the glm 80 comes with a tiny brochure that could have been more fully fleshed out – fewer ikea-like pictographs and more text. imagine though how frustrating it is to toss away some hours at this thing and to wonder what you are doing wrong… ‘what am i not getting?’ only to find out after some serious head scratching that the thing was kerbroken from the factory. BTW, good to hear from you fred – happy new year.

I have both of these and paid handsomely more. I have been satisfied with both, using the distance measure for long runs of crown molding where using a ruler by myself would’ve been very difficult. I’ve also used it for planning quick layouts and material needs by measuring the square footage.
The laser level has come in handy for tile layout and chair rail. Definitely invest in the tripod; the universal clamp is okay but I found it doesn’t have too many ‘practical uses’

I have the bosch glm 35 which is a 100′ laser measure with accuracy of a 1/16″. It’s a great tool, although I’ll be honest and it doesn’t get used a whole lot. But for some situations when you need to measure long distances, especially vertically it can be invaluable. One feature I wish was on it is a 3 second delay feature so that you can press “measure” and then have some time to align the laser to where you need it. Over long distance even the smallest movement will make you miss your mark, and it happens regularly when pressing the button and try to align the laser at the same time.
