Bosch Speed-X Hammer Carbide – Fastest Drills Around!

Bosch Speed-X Hammer Carbide Drill

Bosch has just announced their new Speed-X Hammer Carbide bits, which are said to be game changing fast. Not only are these new bits the fastest in their class, they’ve been engineered to last even longer. Pros who need to drill deep holes in concrete, are you excited yet?!

Featuring a centric carbide top, holes can be started quickly and precisely. Speed-X bits also feature innovative inclined side cutters that power their way into concrete. With their shortened head design and enlarged dust-clearing channels, Speed-X drills clear debris much faster than other brands’ drills can.

In addition to clearing debris quicker for more efficient drilling, Speed-X flutes are designed for reduced friction to enhance the drills’ durability and usable lifetime.

Bosch Speed-X bits will start appearing later this month in SDS-Max and splined versions and in select popular sizes, but nationwide distribution won’t be complete until Fall 2010.

Note: Bosch says that these bits are up to 20% faster and last 18% longer compared to the leading competitor’s drills. We imagine that these figures were determined when drilling deep holes, where the Speed-X design offers a visible and noteworthy speed difference. For what it’s worth, we generally trust Bosch’s claims.

Looks like a nice drill bit. It’s nice to see improvements on masonry bits. It seems like manufacturers don’t design or redesign new bits enough. Thanks for letting me know about these. I will definitely have to consider these bits as my next upgrade.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the Bosch Accessory Product Manager in Scotland recently. He talks exclusively about these new bits amongst other things such as his direct interaction with users, his passion for power tools and some other new lines in the Bosch range. It’s quite interesting

I saw some other Bosch bits on the Sears site.
Called “multi-construction” to go through wood AND masonry.

I’m not sure if these have been mentioned on here before.

Thank you Neil for those links, I’ll check them out as soon as I have the chance.

Uthscsaedu, we introduced Bosch’s Multi-Construction bits when they were first announced. Another post about them will be going up soon, but it’s going to take a bit more work and self-censoring. (You’ll see why.)
