Bosch launched new wireless auto-start remote transmitter that works with select corded dust extractor vacuums.
The remote achieves auto-start functionality by using vibration detection to sense when the power tool is in use. There is also a large button for manual activation.
You can attach the transmitter to different tools, or the end of a vacuum hose, and use it to automatically or remotely activate your dust collector vac. The vibration sensing likely works better with the device attached directly to your tool.

Because it’s an external attachment, the remote can work with many tools from any power tool brands.

The transmitter has a single large activation button.

The full system comes with a receiver that plugs into the auxiliary auto-start port of compatible AC-powered vacuums.
Additional remotes are available separately.

Bosch says that their new dust control auto-start remote is compatible with:
Bosch VAC090AH and VAC140AH dust extractors or with competitor corded dust extractors featuring an auto-start mode and a socket for the receiver to plug into.

The remote has IP54-rated protection against water and dust. Its wireless activation uses Bluetooth tech.

Each remote comes with (3) attachment bands.
It first appeared at Amazon, and is now available at other dealers as well. At the time of this posting, Acme Tools has the remote system on sale with a $20 coupon code.
Price: $189 for the full system (GCA30-42K), $59 for additional remotes (GCT30-42)

Milwaukee offers something similar – a universal corded dust vacuum remote – but with several key differences.

Most importantly, it doesn’t have vibration sensing. You can attach the remote to the end of a vacuum hose, or your belt.

The Milwaukee trigger goes between a wall outlet and your AC dust vacuum’s power cord.
Bosch’s plugs into auxiliary ports – if your vacuum has one.
I think that the Bosch will work well with their own dust extractor vacuums, but compatibility with other dust extractors or vacuums will depend on whether they have auxiliary activation ports and where they’re located.
Milwaukee’s system seems more widely compatible, but it has a manual remote without vibration sensing.
Neither works with cordless dust extractor vacuums.

Seems the best of both worlds would be to have the vibration sensing and a variant that would have the trigger at the AC outlet, like the Milwaukee. I wonder why Bosch didn’t seize that opportunity. I guess they want to make their compatible vacuums more compelling. But some people are simply not going to buy a Bosch vacuum, for whatever reason, but would fork over $200 for the variant I mention for their favorite vacuum/dust collector.
Jared
I agree. It’s neat that you don’t need a Bosch tool on the business end, but they must have realized a version was possible that could work with any vacuum too.
ToolGuyDan
But they’ve already done all the hard work! If all you want is what Milwaukee did, just stick Bosch’s plug into the master outlet of something like this (https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-Advance-Outlet-Strips-Protector/dp/B07K3ZLMP7), and then put your vacuum on the “controlled” side. Now you have the best of both worlds, and you can even use it to turn on some worklights or something. [I’m sure there’s a more compact version of the controlled outlet strip, maybe even one with just a single outlet, but I can’t be fussed to track it down at the moment.]
Jared
You want me to buy TWO of these remote switches, one for $189 and another for $110, just so I can combine them and have my cheap Ridgid shop vac turn on when my tool vibrates? 😜
I suppose I might just not be the target market. If I had a dust extractor with AC plugs like Stuart describes below, then I wouldn’t need a workaround.
I just think the idea of a vibration-activated sensor turning on the power to my vacuum is neat. It’s disappointing it only works with more sophisticated equipment than I possess.
CoBlue
The linked workaround strip is $10, not $110, but it is sort of clunky.
Really, $189 feels rather pricy, especially when additional remotes are only $59. Amazon.de currently has it for ~120 EUR. I’ll hold out for stacking one of Bosch’s periodic spend more, save more promotions atop a discounted base price.

I don’t think your interpretation is correct. To me, the quote says this is compatible with any vacuum that has an ac outlet with auto start. Alternatively you can probably use a cheap power strip with the auto start feature connected to a ridgid vacuum.

Just use something like this

Many brands of corded dust extractors have auto-activation auxiliary outlets on the front.
Aux outlets are designed for AC plugs and not receivers like this one, but I’m sure the Bosch is compatible with some or many, if not all of them. The compatibility is not guaranteed, but one can also potentially use a short extension cord and some kind of Velcro mounting improvisation.
The Bosch appears to be thoughtfully designed.
And, as Bosch has an entire business segment focused on sensor technology, I’m optimistic they did a good job with the vibration sensing part.
Milwaukee’s option approaches the same need – activation of a corded dust extractor when using a cordless tool – in a different way and is manual-only.

I thought about buying the Milwaukee version of this to use with my shop vac, but I ended up using the Fastcap RCV which has the same functionality but thankfully at a far lower price.
Koko The Talking Ape
I’ve been using an Echo connected to some Kasa smart plugs for both the shop lights and a vacuum. Works fine, except sometimes I have to shout over the vacuum for Alexa to hear me. And I can listen to music while I work too! There’s an Emergency Assist service available in case you have an accident, but it’s a subscription based service and I haven’t set it up yet.

“Neither works with cordless dust extractor vacuums.”
Looks like the new 18v dust extractor comes with the receiver functionality built right in:
