I just finished posting about Craftsman and Porter Cable 6-gallon air compressor deals. Well, another seasonal deal is back – Bostitch’s BTFP02012 6-gallon air compressor is also on sale, for $99.
Why did I post about the Craftsman and Porter Cable deals separately? As someone wrote in and asked about, some readers are expressing animosity towards the Craftsman brand. So, maybe those users would be more interested in reading about a Porter Cable deal, separately.

But, this Bostitch air compressor is slightly different, perhaps deserving of its own deal discussion.
Yes, it has similar features – a 150 PSI 6 gallon air tank, 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI airflow, and oil-free motor. But, according to its specs, it has a quieter motor compared to the Porter Cable, with a noise rating of 78.5 dBA.
Also, the two quick-disconnect air couplers are in different positions. The Porter Cable has two air couplers on one side of the tool, oriented 90° from each other. This one has two air couplers on opposite sides of the regulator housing.
From the images, it also looks like the regulator knob isn’t quite as shrouded as on the Porter Cable, which could potentially make it easier to access and adjust. The pressure gauges are oriented top to bottom, whereas on the Porter Cable and Craftsman they’re left to right.
It’s hard to tell if any of the internal components or sub-systems contribute to a better build than the Craftsman or Porter Cable models, but for the mentioned reasons, it’s at least clearly different.
Price: $99

Tomorrow, I’ll tell you all about Dewalt’s 6 gallon air compressor. (Just kidding, it’s not on sale – yet?)

One can only wonder why they’re three of a kind … and finally back down to the old standard priceof $99.
fred
What, no Dewalt at this price too??
Looks like $129 is about the best price on this SBD – yellow clone.

The Dewalt actually has different specs, suggesting different components.

I wouldn’t buy any of these at $50. They are a good deal when cost is the only concern, but I’m much happier with my Rolair and California Air Tools compressors.
fred
Now a bit outdated – but we were always very happy with compressors in this small size range (and a bit larger) that we had from Emglo – bought out by Dewalt. In larger (towables) we thought our Sullair machines were good investments and we had a big Sullair for our stationary compressor in one shop
I never tried Rolair or California Air – but keep hearing good things about them.
Russ
Thanks, I was just looking at this one the other day but this price is good enough.

Sk, so this one is like the Olds or Buick repaint/ add chrome of a 1980’s Chevy. Same crap, just with more some more sound deadening. $100, sure..if that’s what you can afford, it’ll do. But honestly, these things just piss off clients when they cycle in their homes. Never Again!

I agree, after buying a California air, I don’t I’ll ever buy anything but an ultra quiet. You can get a similar capacity for $50 more and will smile every time you use it

Wow! One post for each brand of the same air compressor made by the same company for the same price. How exciting! I’m pretty sure they make more than one size air compressor as well as a plethora of new air tools made by many different companies that are currently on the market that will work with the different size air compressors. I’m not going to mention that because they’re not on sale for black friday.

Well, the Craftsman post was because it’s a good deal that caught my attention, the Porter Cable was for folks who still aren’t open to the idea of SBD-made Craftsman tools, and this post was because the Bostitch is a little different than the others and 1) I’m curious about if anyone has personal experience with it and can explain the distinction, and 2) it’s also a good deal, even if an expected one.
The Porter Cable post was also intended to subtly poke at the cross-branding/rebranding. Maybe I was too subtle?
For when there’s a Craftsman deal roundup later in the season, a separate post will be easier to point to than a mixed-branded one.
Plus, separate posts were easier to write than a single much longer one.
As I’ve advised you before, if you don’t like a topic, skip it.
10 years of ToolGuyd and countless holiday season deal requests lead me to do things a certain way. It’s unproductive for you to sarcastically or harshly criticize everything you don’t like. (And this applies to so very many of your negative posts.) Instead, think about what you do want – specifically – and ask. If I can’t accommodate it now, I’ll try when I can.

Tool Of The Trade, they are not the same.

since it’s my house I use it in and I use it mostly outside anyway this device or rather the porter cable one I bought has been a great investment.
