C.H. Hanson Precision Ball Level Crosshair Design Remedied

Last month we posted an update to our review of C.H. Hanson’s Precision Ball Level. In our experience, the ball level worked exactly as advertised, and looked to be very solidly made. In our update, we discussed a slight design flaw that made new levels susceptible to damage under certain conditions – perhaps careless handling at the retail level.

Since the initial review, a few readers mentioned publicly and via email that the crosshairs on all or most of the ball levels they encountered at stores were slightly worn away. We confirmed this during several regular trips to our local Lowes stores.

We recently received word that C.H. Hanson had remedied the slight design flaw of these levels and will replace any affected units. Whereas the crosshair marker was originally on the outside of the polycarbonate ball level shell, it is now printed on the inside.

In a comment, C.H. Hanson mentioned that as with all of our products, we stand behind them 100%..if you have a damaged level, Lowes will replace it for you or we will as well.

I’m curious to know if the defective ones have been pulled from the shelves or if C.H. Hanson just started shipping the improved version without a recall on the older version?
