How Well Does the Kobalt Multi Drive Wrench Fit Hex Fasteners?

Nov 16, 2010 Stuart 34 Comments

I couldn’t help myself, I purchased a Kobalt Multi Drive Wrench for review (more info about the new tool here). The full hands-on review of the universal wrench is in the works, but I wanted to share these photos about how well (or poorly) the wrench’s sockets fit fasteners.

Husky Ratcheting Rotary Wrench Reader Review

Nov 5, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

UPDATE: It has come to light that “Jason” may be a shill for Home Depot, Husky or one of their agents. As such, please DISREGARD this post until our investigation is complete. We currently believe that the review left by “Jason” is FAKE. The other day we introduced (and ragged on) Husky’s new 48-in-1 ratcheting rotary […]

Husky 48 in 1 Ratcheting Rotary Socket Wrench – Another Dog Bone

Nov 3, 2010 Stuart 12 Comments

Dan sent us a heads-up about Husky’s new universal spline ratcheting wrench. I was already heading off to Home Depot that day, so I made a point to check it out. This Husky 48-in-1 “ratcheting rotary socket wrench” is essentially a universal dog bone wrench similar in design to Black & Decker’s new ratcheting ReadyWrench.

Black & Decker Ratcheting ReadyWrench (Dog Bone Wrench)

Sep 20, 2010 Stuart 5 Comments

Black & Decker’s ratcheting ReadyWrench takes their highly successful ReadyWrench dog bone all-in one style wrench to the next level. Like the original, the ratcheting ReadyWrench can also fit 16 fastener sizes in 8 sockets, but appears to be more compact and has a handy (15°?) offset at both ends.

Craftsman Ratcheting Elbow Wrenches Review Update

Sep 20, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Back in July, we reviewed Craftsman’s new ratcheting elbow wrenches. After a reader commented that a wrench appeared bent in one of the photos, I went ahead and examined each wrench in the set. I then asked around and examined a few more wrenches, and ultimately discovered that there was no glaring issues with the wrenches. […]

Channellock 4-in-1 Combo Ratcheting Wrenches Reviewed

Sep 7, 2010 Stuart 3 Comments

A few weeks ago we introduced Channellock’s new 4-in-1 ratcheting wrenches. These wrenches feature four sizes in a single wrench, which each end sharing the ratcheting mechanism. This makes the wrenches light and compact, and we couldn’t wait to put them through some rough and intense testing.

Your Go-To Adjustable Wrench?

Aug 24, 2010 Stuart 11 Comments

We have been having a bit of discussion lately as to what constitutes a “normal” adjustable wrench. In my mind, a normal wrench may not necessarily be a good one. You know the kind, those 3-for-$15 sets you find at the bargain bin at the local home improvement store during peak winter holiday and Father’s Day […]

Thorsen Dog Bone Wrench Sets at Costco

Jul 26, 2010 Stuart 1 Comment

After we posted about Channellock’s Mutli-Fit wrench set and Alex’s heads-up about Craftsman’s Dog Bone wrench set sale, Jeff spotted the Thorsen-branded Dog Bone multi-socket set at Costco. At $15-20 each, Dog Bone wrenches are a tough sell for a number of reasons. But $17 for the set of SAE and metric wrenches? That’s much more tempting. […]

Channellock Ratcheting Wrenches

Jul 21, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Soon after we posted about Channellock’s Dog Bone style wrenches, I thought back to a few months ago when I spotted Channellock-branded ratcheting wrenches. These wrenches were also found at a discount wholesale club, and although I don’t recall the exact price, it was possibly in the $25-30 range for the 7-piece set.

Channellock Multi-Fit (Dog Bone) Socket Wrenches

Jul 15, 2010 Stuart 5 Comments

Spotted these Channellock-branded “Multi-Fit 8-in-1” dog bone socket wrenches over at the local BJs Wholesale Club. If I recall correctly, the set was around $20 or less. You won’t find these tools in Channellock’s main catalog, and they’re not made in the USA, but they seem to be of reasonable quality.

Craftsman Ratcheting Elbow Wrenches Hands-on Review

Jul 8, 2010 Stuart 16 Comments

With their pivoting box ends, Craftsman’s ratcheting elbow wrenches are anything but ordinary. Possibly inspired by similarly styled indexable ratchets, these elbow wrenches are designed for use in tight spaces and situations where a fastener may be obstructed. Curious about whether these new wrenches were innovative, gimmicky, or both, we set out to review them. In the end, […]
