I don’t mean that in a bad way. A lot of people missed some of these deals the first time around, and so a second chance is much appreciated.

Shown above, this kit comes with a DCK240C2 cordless combo kit, and a DWMT75000 mechanics tool set.
Both items seem to be “holiday season specials.” The mechanics tool set first appeared on the market last year, for Cyber Monday, and the cordless tool kit features the mass market DCD771 drill/driver, decent DCF885 impact driver, and 2 lower capacity 1.3Ah battery packs.
It looks to be a good all-around kit for homeowners and casual DIYers.

Ryobi 18V 5-Tool Combo Kit for $149
Thus Ryobi 18V combo kit comes with a drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, impact driver, and flashlight, plus 2 compact batteries, a charger, and tool bag.
Dewalt 20V Max Trimmer Kit with Bonus Blower and Battery Pack for $249
Last time this deal came around, I was mistaken. You DO get a full trimmer kit, with bare tool and battery pack. PLUS the blower and another battery pack.
The trimmer kit is $199 at Amazon. So for $50 more, you get a blower and another 5.0Ah battery pack.
I find this deal to be really tempting.
The blower works extremely well (test sample), and I’m wondering if my father could use one. I could use the trimmer, and extra Dewalt 20V Max batteries are always nice…

This deal comes with a standard Dewalt 20V Max cordless hammer drill, DCD785C2, 2 compact Li-ion battery packs (they should be 1.5Ah), and a 108pc mechanics tool set, DWMT73801.
Seems like a decent set for what you get, but keep in mind that the hammer drill is a bit long in the tooth, having launched with the Dewalt 20V Max platform a few years ago. But, I’d take an older standard model over a holiday season mass market model any day.

What do think of that saw?? I was close to buying it but decided against it fir a few reasons. Still very cureus about it’s performance and what it’s like miving it around and of course using it.. Si how is it?

I’m not sure I understand the Dewalt Mechanics Tool Set. Those are some really tiny batteries. Does run time suffer?

It’s a promo, it doesn’t have to make sense! But seriously, Dewalt is dominant in cordless tools and a minor player in hand tools, so this is a way of leveraging one to introduce consumers to the other. If it’s worth anything, Dewalt hand tools are made in Taiwan and have good reviews on the GJ forum.
A buddy has some 1.3AH Bosch batteries and I have some 1.5’s, run time is OK for my home working pace until they get 2-3 years old. Usually the first is recharged by the time I’ve run down the second.
I’d rather have several smaller batteries for big jobs like building decks, and keep swapping them out on the charger, because they’re lighter and easier on the wrists than the big 3-4-5AH batteries.

I hate the compact batteries at work. Sure the lightness is nice, but having multiple batteries die quite fast under high load applications is bloody annoying. Not everyone gives a shit and neglects to put the batteries on charge at the end of the day.

Apparently you get two batteries and two chargers based on the Q & A section on the Dewalt blower and trimmer. Two complete kits that typically sell for $199

The Milwaukee backpack impact driver kit is $10 for me @ $159, no big deal.
$230 bought separately.
I already have a charger so its like a $40 savings or I can use the 2nd charger.
Was $299.00 —— list prices are humerous.

I’m very tempted by the OPE from Dewalt, but have been unable to find a good comparison between the 20V blower / trimmer, and the 40V equivalents (let alone the 60V coming soon?)
Does anyone have thoughts between the two? Already heavily invested in the 20V lineup, so I’d likely be buying to get the bare tool price but lower, and sell the batteries / chargers.
Is the 40V OPE going to be surpassed by any of the 60V stuff?
