Crescent has come out with a new demolition tool, the DB16, a 16-inch adjustable pry bar and nail puller. The new puller and prying tool features adjustable jaws that slide and clamp onto nails and other objects.

The main puller can be adjusted and locked into place for different nail sizes to provide optimal leverage. The inner face of the jaws are grooved to better grip lumber for straightening and positioning tasks.
Overall the new Code Red adjustable pry bar and nail puller looks like an interesting new design. It looks like it can pull longer nails with a single motion, unlike ordinary nail pullers that often require a bit of readjustment.
The puller side of the adjustable jaw can also be used to pierce and tear drywall, while the opposite side is shaped flat to serve as a striking hammer.

There’s also a 24″ version if you need greater leverage.

See! This is a great sector of the hand tool arena. Many jobs include some demolition and deconstruction, including most remodels and renovations of any kind. Dedicated tools for this space are time and money savers, and that’s a fact. Now if I could just get my next generation Nail Hawk completed. Oh well, back to the lab (my back yard). Anyway, welcome world’s largest tool company! Jump in, the water’s fine!

It is an interesting design. What’s the country of origin ?

Oh boy, more Chinese tools from Apex Tool Group.

That is a real shame, years ago, Apex made some exceptionally well made items, some even were made in USA as well. Not anymore though.
If I am going to use a nail puller, it’s going to be from the brand Grayvik as all their products are without a doubt much higher quality, much less expensive and made in USA in addition.

I just have a grudge with Apex for moving production of their Crescent adjustable wrenches to China.
Baji
Yeah, I am not at all thrilled about that myself. Luckily, eBay occasionally has original USA made wrenches sold there though. I absolutely refuse to buy any Apex branded item that isn’t USA made though, especially from the Crescent line.

Nice design, but if they are made with the same pot metal as the crescent pliers I broke in half, then I wouldn’t twist a 2×4 like in the picture or you will be needing stitches.

NOP, they are from Taiwan, not China! MIT hand tools are no less than German standard.

My Kwick Gripper is a competitor of sorts but I have to say this is a pretty neat, innovative tool. As an inventor I’d like to get one just to see how well it works.

There seems to be some sort of confusion around the internet regarding Taiwan. Taiwan is not China. Taiwan is a capitalistic country, an ally of the West, and very capable of producing quality products. I have both the DB16 and DB18 – they are made in Taiwan. They seem very well made and quite heavy duty. So far, I think they are great, but only time will tell how well they hold up. I’m not posting to provide a ringing endorsement, just to correct some of the other posts.
