It has been a year and a half since Dewalt first came out with a new line of ball bearing tool storage systems.
At the time, Dewalt said that their new 36″ combo would be followed to market by a 52″ 17-drawer combo that was priced at $1300. Well, the new Dewalt 52″ combo is coming to Home Depot starting Black Friday 2015, and it’ll be priced at just $800.

The new Dewalt DWMT75031 52″ combo comes with a 9-drawer roller cabinet and 8-drawer top chest, for a total of 17 storage drawers – 1 of which is full-width.
Reminder: Check out our tool deals section for ideas to help fill this giant tool box!
Each drawer has heavy duty ball bearing slides, and is capable of supporting up to 100 pounds of tools. They feature an auto-return mechanism for user convenience. The bottom extra-deep drawers have 200 lb load ratings.
You also get an extra-tall top compartment, what look to be gas spring lid stays, 6 caster wheels, and a side handle.
If sturdy, this combo would provide incredible bang for the buck as far as tool storage space goes. Personally, I don’t mind the yellow, I kind of like it. Hopefully my local Home Depot will have one on display for quick inspection.
Price: $798
Plus… in the Home Depot Black Friday 2015 ad it said something about a free 34pc Dewalt mechanics tool set (valued at $40 retail). We discussed this same Dewalt mechanics tool set briefly in our Home Depot Dewalt Hand Tool Deals post.

If even this isn’t enough tool storage for you, you’ll probably have to step up to a 72″ unit, like this Montezuma Elite 17-drawer cabinet, or settle for multiple smaller tool boxes.

I like this one compared to the other one. Still way too much yellow for me. Just screams take me first in an open garage.

I don’t need something quite that big and prefer a low key color so I will be going for this Costco deal. Their Costco brand Kirkland 42″ matte black tool box combo is $499, which is $100 off the normal price.

Do you know anyone that owns the costco one? I keep looking at it and it feels Solid. I really like the red Milwaukee one HD had last year too.
Steve
No, it would be nice to see one in action. It’s not for work, just upgrading from an old 26″.
I’ve checked it out several times in the store and it looks reasonably well built for that price. I was also looking at the 42″ Excel they have online for $849. I prefer the drawer layout on the Kirkland but the Excel looks a little bit sturdier.

I noticed they also carry a couple of monster 56″ boxes from Extreme Tools. Those are on the other end of the spectrum.

I saw this box this morning along with a lot of boxes covered with black plastic with notices with Santa’s picture on them and Ssshhhh…..
$798 at our store, pretty darn big… and yellow… Not sure what I would put in those giant drawers on bottom..
Home Depot opens Friday at 6:AM, ugh….
SteveR
John–Well, you could put items like a circular saw or a router, or possibly a reciprocating saw, a heater, a small level, your other corded or cordless power tools, etc. Pretty much anything of a size or bulk that won’t fit in the other drawers.
Or you could hide Christmas gifts for the wife or kids there until the last minute. It’s lockable, so you can place most anything in there that fits; just use your imagination.
I would recommend against anything that breathes, however, so no turtles, snakes, puppies or kittens, please.

Man like Fazzman said that is just way too much yellow, and I think value for your money the Husky Tool Chests are the better deal. It’s weird how they are not in the Home Depot inventory system yet though.
Jason
It’s weird HD has had the other BF tools out for a month or so.
Jeff
The Husky chests are a good bit lighter construction than the DeWalt and Milwaukee. Of course, if it meets your needs, then it’s certainly a better value for you.
John
There’s a lot of boxes under that black plastic. Hope the black Friday ad leaks. 6:am… Ugh….
Steve R, guess you are right, could put oil / air filters in those big drawers
Greg
I walked into my Home Depot in January and they still had the floor model. Really nice and it is heavier gauge metal that the HD brand. I also like that the top section has a pass through for electric cords so I can keep my charger/batteries in it.

Im a heavy duty mechanic for volvo, international, freightliner, peterbilt, and kw, I love the 52 inch holds alot of the tools just need side box add ons I have to have 2 boxes to hold them all, just as heavy duty as matco snapon but not as expensive alot better price so ill give it a great rating for a shop.

Where is this tool chest available to buy? The link goes to Menards site, which does not have DeWalt products.. other sites direct to home Depot site that doesn’t have it..
Stuart
My link goes to Home Depot, but it appears they took down the product page. It seems this model has not been available for quite some time.
