Over at our Facebook page, Matthew wrote in with a tip that the Dewalt DW735X planer package has dropped in price to $499.99.
And that’s BEFORE the $25 off $100 promo applies. The final price? $475!

We wrote about this planer package earlier this month. If you ordered one then, hop on the phone with Amazon and request a price adjustment. Tell them that you’d rather not have to do a return and rebuy, because that’ll just lose money for everyone.
I had never seen this planer package drop to the earlier deal post price of $524 after discount. But $475? That’s nearly as low as the lowest prices readers remember seeing it sell for 3 holiday seasons ago.
NoDeuces
Ouch. I bought mine at Acme, and they are currently not matching this price.
Stuart
Acme has a low price guarantee. I’d give it a try.
NoDeuces
Acme responded to my email within an hour and credited my account. I am a customer for life with these folks. They have been so great, thanks for the referral, ToolGuyD.
Jonathan
Stuart do you have a phone number foe Amazon’s CS? I’ve only dealt with them by email mail.
Also I’m now wondering if Amazon’s price guarantee longer than the normal seven day’s during the Holiday season do you know a something they don’t advertise?
The DeWalt 5Ah and two bare tools dropped from $299 to about $280 I think from Amazon (direct) not an Amz seller but it was past the 7 days.
PSA:
If any Prime packages were delivered later than the date given at checkout, the will give you a free month of prime, I’ve gotten two free months earlier this year and need to email for two more free months from recent purchases this month (its win-win for Amzn I’ve spent far more than I would’ve without Prime).

You can get Amazon’s CS phone # by clicking on help at the very bottom of home (or any) page and then click on “need more help” and “contact us”. You would need to fill out a couple of boxes related to order # and select “call me now”. It looks like Amazon is hiding the CS #, but believe me when you click “call me now” you will be talking to a real person in a minute. One of the innovative & best procedures of contacting CS when you think about it, since the rep has already pulled up your account and order.

Actually no, this isn’t the lowest I’ve seen. Yesterday at ACME, it would have been $549 – 20% or $439.
I know, I lost some sleep over whether or not to buy it, but decided against it. I’m not convinced I need that particular model over some of the smaller sized planers.
Matt
I tried the acme code yesterday several times for the planer. It didn’t work. Their exclusion said Dewalt Flexvolt which this planer isn’t and it still didn’t work.
Benjamen
I had the planer in my cart while I was debating buying it, but I never applied the code. I assumed it would work because it wasn’t in the exclusions like you said.
B-Rad
Geez, really kicking myself right now. I’ve been watching the price on this closely since Black Friday of last year, when it got down to $575 during the Dewalt $25 off promo. I bought it at the beginning of November this year when it dropped down to $569, and I figured it was going to go back up to its normal price of $600 once the Dewalt $25 off promo hit for this season, and $569 was already better than last Black Friday’s price so I jumped on it . I never would’ve imagined it would’ve gotten down this low!
Brian
How does this compare to the grizzly planer that is on sale on their site for $295 (12.5″ vs. Dewalt’s 13″)?
Matt
Not even close, the dewalt is in a class of its own for bench top planers, even compared to the other dewalts, it has a fantastic depth adjustment system, a blower chip ejection system(I don’t even use a dust collector with it, just hook it up to my Oneida cyclone separator bin) the easy set blades are almost worth the price difference on their own!
Paul
I tried calling Amazon twice to get a price adjusted. They created me a shipping label instead and so I can ship the one I got mid November back and ordered a new one that will come in a few days. They would not budge.
B-Rad
That’s frustrating. Are you a Prime member?
Paul
Yes I am. I’ve never had issues before. I just spend time on the phone again and explained it to them. She put me on hold and spoke to some other agent and they both agreed they don’t have a way to do a price adjustment. I’m not sure how true any of this is, she could have just given me $50 credit and called it a day but instead I got a shipping label.
B-Rad
I’m so frustrated for you. I just got off the phone and they ended up making a one-time exception and said it was due to being a Prime member. The way they spun it was the person on the phone said they couldn’t technically do a “price adjustment” but could apply a discount to a previously purchased item, so they discounted it a certain %. Who the heck knows, and maybe the customer service agent I spoke with will get slapped on the wrist later for doing something they weren’t supposed to.
Either way, I wouldn’t kill your back boxing up the planer you already have. Make a new purchase, and when the new one gets there just stick the return shipping label for the one you have on it and send it off.
Paul
Thanks B-Rad, that’s exactly what I was planning on doing.
Brian
Shows as $499 for me. Where is the $25 off done?
Brian
NM, shows as you check-out. Thanks for the post!
Tim
Just got mine put together too…
B-Rad
It pays to be a Prime member. I just called Amazon Customer Service since I had purchased this planer at the beginning of November:
1-888-280-4331
I politely explained the hassle and cost for both parties of returning the 100 pound item and re-buying (my order said eligible for return till Jan. 31st) and I would appreciate a price adjustment, otherwise I would be going the return route. They explained I was outside of my price adjustment window, but they agreed to do an exception on my account since I am a Prime member, and they took care of it.
Jonathan
Thanks B-Rad for posting the phone number and sharing your experience, and glad it worked out for you.
I had a similar issue with a 2n1 refurbed tablet that I bought for my daughter from Newegg, there I’m a Premiere member (like Prime), first years free for Vets and AD military, but Tablet was a non-refunded-able exchange only item ($115 but $100 with MIR a daily Shell Shocker Deal) anyways Wifi chip was defective, but I couldn’t submit the MIR with out barcode and also couldn’t exchange without it either (was going to have daugther use a USB Wifi to avoid the hassle of returning) the rep gave me a $15 GC but the replacement Tablet was password protected from prior customer and had been upgraded to Win10 (advert as Win8.1) so Win10 its close to impossible to reset PW (through tools you can download).
So I sent that one back thinking how many times would this go on to get a working unit, they just ended up refunding without my asking. I will say that its getting hard for the smaller retailers to compete with the smaller online sellers (not, BB, OD, OM, Wallyworld, Target, etc but the smaller independents) I always check the specials against Amzn and its saved me money cause tend not to buy if the deal isn’t really a deep savings.
Tim
Thanks for posting that. I’m a prime member to, but so far no luck in getting an adjustment….
Stuart
Did you call them?
Alternatively, discuss a return and rebuy and ask them to waive the return shipping fees.
Usually if they cannot or won’t adjust the price, they can initiate a return where they eat the return shipping.
For a cordless tool kit and $50 savings, I’d eat the $10 to $15 shopping fee.
But for a large and heavy planer? Who knows how much the shipping would be?!
Tim
Yeah, I emailed and called and got the same reply. Even after running through the cost of a return for all parties. Its not really worth dealing with having to unmount, box, and return to just reorder. All things considered, I’m happy at getting it for 525. It’s a win, just not as big as i thought.
Bertil
By golly do I wish Australia could enjoy prices even nearly as good as what you do in America.
Going by the pure exchange rate, the best price I can find for one down under is $800usd, though you do get the radio via redemption with it (woo)
ca
That’s criminal.
ca
The model without the table and extra blades is considerably cheaper. On amazon.ca it’s $499 CAD which is around $375 USD.
Has anyone used it with the tables? I haven’t and don’t really feel a need either.
Graham Howe
Tables are usefull to reduce snipe and can be bought for about $80 CAD. However you can certainly build your own extended bed out of something like melamine which might be even better. You would lose a little vertical capacity but I never get close to needing full height on mine.
BigDan
Great price. this is my second most favorite tool to use after my bosch glide. Considering pulling the spiral/helical cutter in to make a better cut too.
Tables are worth their weight in gold dont punish yourself trying to build level in/out feed tables.
Brian
Any recommended videos on how to properly use a planer? I have always given my lumber to my neighbor and let him do the work, but with this puppy I’ll be doing my own planing. Want to be safe and do it right…
NoDeuces
Don’t put your fingers in it. There are a ton of youtube videos on how to use it. Not so many videos on how to replace the gauge with a Wixey digital. It’s about the most unintuitive install I have ever done.
Tim
Is the wixey accurate/ useful enough to put on the to buy list?
NoDeuces
I think so. It’s made my life a lot easier. If you’ve been looking a tape measure all your life and that mental math comes natural, maybe not.
Daddyrab
How long is the $475 price good for?
Stuart
There’s no way to know.
With Amazon, it could be 5 minutes, 5 days, 5 weeks.
This isn’t a published sale, it’s more of an observed one.
SickFish426
I bought mine from Home Depot the day before this went on sale at Amazon for $499 and I just called up Home Depot and they refunded me the difference and the tax for the difference. It took them less time to refund then what i waited on hold for. Great customer service
Dan
I decided to order one, but FYI, it’s now showing as out of stock with no delivery estimate. I won’t need it for a while, but I should’ve jumped on it when you posted. :/
