Dewalt 20V Max Brushless 7-Tool Promo Combo Kit

In the comments of yesterday’s now-expanded Home Depot PRO Black Friday tool deals post, Cameron brought up mention of a Dewalt 20V Max brushless 7-tool cordless combo kit.

I took a closer look, at this looks to be a VERY GOOD deal. This is good upgrade set, or a starter set for those who have the budget and know what they want.

Update: This is a PRO Black Friday 2017 deal, said to end 11/29/2017.

It’s on sale for $599.

Each of the tools are brushless, except for the LED flashlight which is motorless, and none of them are entry-level or “combo kit” versions.

  • DCD996 Premium Hammer drill/Driver
  • DCF887 3-speed impact driver
  • DCS570 7-1/4″ circular saw
  • DCS367 compact reciprocating saw
  • DCS355 oscillating multi-tool
  • DCL040 LED worklight
  • DCG413B angle grinder
  • (2) 5.0Ah battery packs

It looks like this isn’t really a 7-piece kit, but a 6-tool combo kit plus a bonus angle grinder. So if you’re searching for price comparisons, look for the 6-tool combo, DCK694P2, which is $799 at Acme Tool.

A similar 5-tool combo, lacking the oscillating multi-tool and angle grinder, is $699 at Amazon.

Deal looks to end 11/29/17 unless supplies sell out sooner.

Discussion

Compared to the 6-tool combo kit, you save $200 and gain a bonus brushless angle grinder.

I find myself wondering if the price will drop any lower, but I don’t think it will. Maybe, just maybe, the 6-tool combo will drop to the same price at other retailers, with Home Depot keeping the same $599 price and continuing to offer the bonus grinder.

Looking at the contents of the kit, none of the tools are “combo kit” or “holiday season” models; they’re all the same tools that Dewalt offers in premium brushless kits, combo kits, and as bare tools.

I’m trying to find a downside, but there is none, at least not obviously. This Dewalt 20V Max brushless cordless power tool combo offers their best of the best, unless you stray into FlexVolt territory of course.

The price is really, really good.

I’d characterize this is an EXCELLENT and VERY HOT buy, unless you couldn’t use all the tools. If there was maybe one of the brushless tools that you couldn’t use, okay, it’s still a great deal. Two? That might be pushing it. Three? It might still be a good deal, depending on the tools.

For instance, let’s say you couldn’t use the grinder, the impact driver, and one of the saws. At that point, this stops being a good deal. If that’s the case, and you still wanted to buy the combo, you could dump the unneeded tools into a storage box until you needed them, or you could always try to sell them.

Bottom line, this is a fantastic deal. We need a deal like this every holiday season, to counter the many entry-level ones.

There are always “deal of the day” cordless combo kits every year, usually featuring a high count of cordless power tools (e.g. a 9-tool combo).

Here are some past deals from Dewalt:

  • December 1st, 2016
  • Cyber Monday 2016
  • June 30th, 2016
  • Black Friday 2015

One of the special combos, not a bad one if you ask me, featured older brushed tools. The others included Dewalt’s entry level drill/driver, DCD771.

This is a very good Dewalt 20V Max cordless power tool combo kit for those interested in starting off with a strong selection of brushless power tools.

I don’t think we’re going to see a better combo kit deal from Dewalt this holiday season. At least not in regard to their premium or brushless offerings.

I do expect to see some good deals on their brushed motor combo kits. With those kits, you get more bang for your buck, because brushed motor tools are typically less expensive than their brushless counterparts. So it’s not really more bang for your buck, but less bang for less bucks.

But if you want more, this kit looks to offer really good bang for the buck in the context of premium and brushless tools.

I’m a couple of hundred words into this post, but cannot quite shake my surprise about this deal. There are some good bundles in the Black Friday flyer, but this one is next-level good.

Consider a deal from last Spring – a Dewalt 5-tool combo bundle for $379. That deal featured a premium brushless drill, impact driver, and LED flashlight combo, plus premium circular and reciprocating saws (in contrast to less featured combo kit versions of each). That was a good deal.

This deal bumps you up to brushless versions of the saws, bumps up the battery packs to (2) 5.0Ah batteries, and throws in a brushless oscillating tool and a brushless angle grinder, for only $229 more.

There have not been many Dewalt brushless combo kit deals in the past. There have been some deals on drill and impact driver combo kits, but a combo like this with 6 brushless tools is unprecedented.

Bottom line, this looks to be a very good deal for those that were planning to spend $600 (or a little more or less) on a new Dewalt 20V Max cordless power tool combo kit this season, or perhaps close to that.

Every strategy I employ to consider deal worthiness, from looking at past deals, to pricing up a combo’s individual tools, scream at me that this is as good as a deal like this can get.

It’s not a must-buy, because $600 is a lot of money to spend if you don’t have the budget or need all the tools, but it’s as close to “must-buy” as can be. Unless you’re a Milwaukee M18 fan, in which case I’d say not to worry, I’ve got my eyes peeled for good M18 brushless and Fuel deals.

Thank you to Cameron for the tip!

    I’d like a 4 tool kit, of:

    Drill
    Impact Driver
    Circ Saw
    Multi-tool
    Batteries

    A boy can dream!

James….I picked up this model the other night.

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-FLEXVOLT-60-Volt-and-20-Volt-MAX-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Brushless-Combo-Kit-2-Tool-Bonus-Multi-Tool-and-Circular-Saw-DCK299D1T1W391355/303219293

They are the real Dewalt Tools as well. All the tools are brushless except the circular saw and you get a 20V battery and a 60/20 Flexvolt. The brushless circular saw would have been nice but couldn’t get a kit within my budget. The Flexvolt also gave me a 2nd 60V battery for my chainsaw which I wanted.

Thank you for this recommendation. This may be as close to perfect as I’m going to get.

I think I’d prefer a compact drill, however finding good qualities tools in the EXACT configuration I’m looking for might be a crap-shoot.

I’ve added this kit to my “wish list” based on your recommendation!

Thank you again for finding this and pointing me towards it.

I know what you mean……I’ve been looking to switch for about a year and couldn’t find the exact one…..this deal was close with the Flexvolt putting it over the edge for me. I got the multi-tool as it was $130 on its own vs $100 for the reciprocating saw. Maybe Santa will get that for me.

I tried the drill and impact driver last night….man were they nice.

        Glad I could help.

I sure wish a kit like this had been available when I switched to the platform. When I did, all of the kits beyond two tools (maybe a third with promo) were lower-end or kit-special tools that I did not want to deal with.

This is a cheap price for a complete kit with no sacrifices and it seems like an easy decision for people interested in getting into the platform.

I too got burned by letting this kit simmer in my Cart for too long. Luckily, similar to Shane’s experience, I was able to call Home Depot and Amber honored the $599 no problem.

Just saw the Hitachi 6 piece kit for $299 on Lowes.com. It says it comes with (2) 3.0 Ahr batteries and they are the batteries they are selling for $39.99 every day now. Looks like an awesome deal to me.

That combo is $299 at Amazon at the moment too.

Those look like older tools, but the value does look to be very, very good. There’s also a 4-tool combo that gives up the circular saw and jig saw for a $199 price point.

I don’t know what’s more appealing at the $299 price point – that Hitachi combo, or the Ridgid special edition 4-tool combo kit (https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/ridgid-18v-brushless-combo-kit-limited-edition-black-color-scheme-h2017/%3C/a%3E%29.%3C/p%3E

Thanks for letting us know! I’m seeing that too, with a new promo period of 11/15-11/16.

But it did say it was valid thru 11/29.

I don’t know what’s going on, but emailed my Home Depot contact asking for an explanation.

This isn’t the first time that Home Depot changed promo details like that.

I’m guessing that either they sold more than they anticipated, or are gearing up for a more publicized promo and they want it to sell at the “was” price for a day or two.

Yeah, the promo period was definitely until 11/29 this morning. I thought on it today and decided to pull the trigger when I got home. That’s when I noticed the price had gone back up.

I missed out on the 20V bandsaw deal earlier this month as well, though I still see that product is up on their site. I’m hoping that deal comes back at some point this holiday season too!

Jason I’m in same boat. I had it in my cart earlier w/the automatic adjustment but then stopped to have dinner w/kids, then bedtime, now WHAM! The $1000 hit. On phone w/internet support and have a great person fighting to get the price but I’m not sure what will happen…

It’s back to $599 plus tax for me, but on backorder. I just put an order through. Says to expect delivery on November 27th.

Now…if the pricing on the 20V bandsaw kit would just come back I’d be set 🙂

It was back ordered when I bought mine. ETA was 11/28 but I received an email yesterday stating it arrived and was available for pick-up. Seeing is believing so will know for sure when I swing by later today or tomorrow.
