Dewalt ToughSeries Construction Jack DWHT83550

Amazon has a stacking discount on the Dewalt construction jack, dropping the price to even below the more value-focused Irwin model.

The Dewalt ToughSeries jack launched at $119 and was discounted to $99 for the Black Friday and holiday shopping season.

Amazon included the Dewalt jack in a new coupon offer, where you save $25 off $100+ select items.

If you add at least $1 in other eligible items, you save an extra $25, dropping the price of the Dewalt jack to $74, which is $5 less than the Irwin model is selling for on sale right now ($79 at Amazon).

Compare at Home Depot

According to Amazon, this is a $25 off $100+ “sports and outdoors gear” promo.

Update: The deal’s over.

I dug through the list of eligible items, here are some low-cost “fillers” you might be interested in, to pad your order over $100 in order to get the $25 off savings:

  • Pyramex safety glasses
  • Franklin low pressure tennis ball 3-pack
  • Bicycle playing cards
  • Zippo lighter fluid
  • Mini ball-type pin-on compass
  • Spalding sports ball inflation needles
  • Nite Ize gear ties
  • Flambeau Outdoors 25 compartment organizer box

Beyond a quality difference, someone mentioned the DeWalt has the benefit of being operated by your foot because of the handle orientation, as well as a smaller 2/16″ level raise (vs 3/16″ on the Iriwin).
Pricey item to not use much, but so worth it at the same time.

The deciding factors between the DeWalt and Irwin for me were the foot operation, and the quick release on the DeWalt is protected so you can’t accidentally drop the jack. I’ve had two for a month and they’ve already been used on at least a half dozen jobs. This deal is even better than when I got them at $99 each.

I think these lifting jacks are indispensable as alternatives to airbags and similar. They’re easier to use with greater lifting range.

I have the Irwin jack. I’m going to get the dewalt at some point because I like the option to pump with my foot. It took some time for me to consider/purchase this tool because I can only think of one or two things that it would be good for in my workflow. I don’t regret it. There are so many more uses you will find for this and it is indispensable for leveling furniture, washing machines, shop tables, etc.. I don’t regret buying it.

Is this the kind of item that you never knew is so useful until you have one – or should I have several examples of times it would have benefited me in-mind to pull the trigger?

Seems like the kind of tool that could be helpful trying to work solo getting things lifted/in place – what are folks using these for most often?

If you can’t see where you might use it, don’t buy it. It’s not the only way to get a lifting task done, but it makes things easier.

If you want a “just in case” product, Winbags are cheaper – https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/winbag-inflatable-air-shims/%3C/a%3E .

Very true, I have the viking arm and its great.

      Just works and feels great.
I just it as a third hand to get my exterior 4×8 sheet goods into nailing position.

Wish I had seen the Dewalt deal because the ability to have it foot activated would be even better.

Local Tractor Supply also had a deal on the Dewalt, not as good as the $75 amazon one but for$99.

Every retailer has it for $99 right now.

The current Amazon price is $98 via CPO.

Thank you for the heads-up Stuart, I’ve been eyeing these waiting for the price to get around $75. I just ordered two of them. I found some cheap targets that I could add to each order to bump the price up over the $100 threshold.

IRWIN Quick-Lift Construction Jack, Hand Lifting Jack Tool, Multifunctional, Lift up to 10″ and Lift Capacity 330 lbs (IRHT83100)

A little below the price and next to where it says MATERIAL, read the description for STYLE.

Also big thanks to stuart for doing the work of finding the cheapest possible filler item I don’t need but is still cheaper if I get it.

Two of the Igloo cold blocks (at $0.98 each) work nicely, too, for getting just over the threshold

Well darn, I sprung for the Irwin version a few weeks ago when it dropped to $79. Not mad at it, though. Construction is solid and agree with comments that it’s one of those tools that (for me) will get dusty, but when you need it you need it. If you’re on the fence, think about applications where you’d be trying to wedge in a screwdriver or pry bar or blocks or something. Cabinet installs, lifting a water heater to replace a pan, leveling something with feet, spreading deck boards. My list got pretty long when I thought about it. And usually when pry bars are involved something get nicked or my fingers get smashed, so it was worth the $79 to save that frustration.

I’ve waffled over buying one of these several times in the past but each time I remind myself that I’ve only ever used my air bags once. One of these jacks would have made that task easier but at $75-100 I need to convince myself that I’d use it more often than that.

You should see the discount at checkout.

The details in the screen capture aren’t very large, but hopefully the arrows help. It should show similar for mobile ordering.

Thanks Stuart. My screen still shows “Save $25 when you buy $100 of select items”, but no discount is applied for my order at any time. I tried a couple different items from the “Select items” list and no luck.

Has anyone put their hands on both the Dewalt and Irwin? I was set on the Dewalt version for the foot actuation ability but then I heard someone comment that when they handled both, the Irwin was actually better quality. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm?

No, but I have the Irwin and I can say for sure the build quality leaves nothing to complain about. Super solid and surprisingly heavy. Wish I could compare it to the Dewalt for you but I can say definitively the quality of the Irwin is top notch.

I have, but I have not used the DeWalt. I really couldn’t see that one was any better quality than they other – they’re both great. I might be wrong but the foot plates look like the exact same pieces between the two. The bars seem to be the same in any meaninful way. The Irwin does lift up a little higher, which is why I bought a pair last week. I’ve had some cheapies and I got a pair from Woodpeckers for cheap which were actually better quality than any of the cheapies I’ve had or seen (if they still have them at their closeout price, they’re worth considering although they are short). The only thing I’m not crazy about on the Irwin is the free slide lever release…just the position of it. They are robust, good tool. The foot action ability on the DeWalt is a great feature, though. It has a little height weight capacity but I don’t know if that’s simply due to the shorter bar or if there are differences in the cams inside. If the DeWalt lifted as high as the Irwin I still don’t know if that would have made it worth the extra $20 at current sale prices for both.

Thanks Stuart -oreder. But I had real difficulty getting the coupon to apply in checkout. The inflation needles, cards, igloo blocks etc did not work for me (even tried emptying cart and re-adding). But I could make it work with a small bottle of insect repellent. Maybe this is because I live in New England so they know what I really need!

Amazon being Amazon? Unfortunately, my direct contacts there changed departments years ago, and there’s no one I can ask about glitches like what some of you seem to be experiencing.

I can only test things on my end from my accounts, and it still seems to be working.
