Nice promo. I just bought a DCF887 impact driver kit (the one with a single 5ah battery). It’s a nice little impact. I was upgrading from a Bosch brushed impact I smoked after doing a series of 3.5″ #10 deck screws. It didn’t like that apparently. 😄
The DCF887 got pretty warm doing similar duty, but showed no ill effects. Might just be superior cooling ejecting the heat out the vents. It was certainly quicker, more compact and more powerful than the Bosch it replaced. I liked the bit holder better too. The only thing I found odd was the direction switch – it felt kind of mushy in comparison, but worked just fine in use. It was a worthy upgrade.
No knocks on the Bosch though, I liked it while it lasted. It was a little wimpy in comparison, but I had it for several years. Certainly wouldn’t be my choice if I was driving screws professionally, but it built a couple of pretty substantial decks.

I just upgraded to the 887 from the 886 and though it doesn’t sound like much, I LOVE that low speed setting. Totally worth it for just that in my opinion.
Stuart
I agree 100%! I can still use single speed impact drivers, but multi-speed settings can help a lot with smaller fastening tasks.
Jared
I went with the 887 specifically for the three speed settings. Havent even tried it out yet though – I was just fixing up a deck so I wanted full power. I can confirm the driving speed was noticeably quicker than my aged Bosch.
I’ll have to go find something small or precise to try it out on!
Nils
Low speed is perfect for installing tiny screws for cabinet glides. You’d think that beast would put them right through the wall of the carcasse but just snugs them.

The orbital sander is Out of Stock for online orders.

It’s in stock at my local Lowe’s at the same price! Already picked one up

Sadly, the price at Lowe’s is now $200 (for me).
Amazon has it for $154.98 (they sure have weird prices).
But the Acme price is $99, or $114.78 including taxes and shipping (to Denver.) They say it is out of stock for online orders, but they will ship in 3-5 weeks.
Just for comparison’s sake, Home Depot has the bare tool for $139.
I just ordered it from Acme. 😀

Off-Topic – but I got an email about a 10% off sale at HNS Tools – a decent source for Klein, Ideal and Greenlee. Their prices are usually very competitive – so it may be worth a look if you have a need. Code is SEMI2021 and the sale runs ends on 8/1 – free shipping does require a $99 spend.

The sander or multi tool battery combo seems to the best deal to me. If the USA would let me I’d be buying!
I bought DCD996 and batteries from ACME tools in Des Moines whilst on a road trip from NY to LA 5 years ago on an a deal.
996 is still going strong!
I live in England but buy my tools on holiday!

Looks like some pretty good deals. I’ve ordered from ACME quite a bit and had excellent service. I have two DCF885 impacts and they’ve been fantastic for the abuse they’ve gotten, very good value in my opinion. I also have both the orbital and 1/4 sheet sanders; haven’t had them very long, but quite impressed so far. The impact wrench is tempting, I keep borrowing a coworker’s big M18 wrench at work, but don’t really need one that big.

I think I’m all tooled out. Outside of a few specialty tools, I’m good. Just waiting on the big domino sale, c’mon festool
fred
Conjecturing abounds about when the Domino patents will run out. Some folks opine that the earliest ones will expire in 2024. But I wouldn’t hold my breath – because they likely have some patent protection that will run longer, How many competitors will offer alternatives once the patents expire is another thing to ponder. While I really like my DF700 – and have it fully tricked out with Seneca add-ons – it is still just a joinery tool – not something like an OMT where everyone jumped on the bandwagon once the Fein patents expired.
Big Richard
Not really a deal, but Lowes has their new installation/multi chuck driver (DCD703) up on their website.

Hey you got any updates on the new 12v tools like the vehicle hood light, rotary hammer drill, and the 5 in 1 tool? Seeing some stuff but want your opinion on them.
