My local Home Depot store seems to have sold quite a lot of this Dewalt 2-in-1 modular right angle attachment.
It’s a decent value at $19.97, but I wouldn’t have thought the display would be cleaned out so quickly. Luckily, it’s still available online.
From the online inventory count, my store still has these Dewalt adapters in stock, so maybe they’ll be replenishing the display.

Here’s the full display in the tool deals and gift center – shoppers bought all of the 2-in-1 right angle adapter sets from the top and bottom levels already.

The set comes with 3 pieces, an impact-compatible right angle adapter, an extension for longer reach, and a handle attachment.

Here’s how it all goes together to give you the two usage configurations.
Price: $19.97

The 14pc drill bit set is still available as well. It looks like there’s plenty of inventory in stores and online.

Some users might like this other Dewalt special buy better than the 2-in-1 modular adapter option. It’s also available at Home Depot, and for around the same price.

With this MaxFit Ultra 25pc set, you get a one-piece right angle adapter plus a selection of screwdriver and drill bits in a handy ToughCase bit box.
Do you want a modular right angle attachment, or a more basic attachment plus a small bit assortment?

If you’re picking one over the other, why?

I saw the kit with the handle last year and picked it up and walked around the store with it, but I wound up putting it back on the shelf. Can anyone who picked it up last year recommend it?

I had one and a similar Milwaukee one and I couldn’t tell you where they are because I never use them.
Instead, I have a REALLY long bit extension (like two feet) which lets me get in at an angle almost anywhere I need to be.
I assume it works for some things but I apparently never do those things.

I have the older one like the one you call basic. Eh, it works, but I definitely see the appeal for the side handle and the modular approach.
I don’t believe I would *love* any of them until they attach to the tool and let me lock in the angle. Preferably with a friction lock so I could squeeze or use my thumb to hold it steady.

Also have the smaller one. I like that the kit with that one comes with bits I use more regularly. Also fits in smaller places. I have used the right angle adapter once, but when I did it was absolutely the right (and only) tool that would have done that job – which is why I bought it, cheap for that rare occasion where it saved the day.

I did the same thing. Thought about but decided against it. It is pretty bulky.
The Milwaukee ratcheting screwdriver seems popular at my HD — much more so than the DeWalt or Husky ones.

I have the Milwaukee right angle adapter and really like it. It’s more compact, and not quite 90 degrees and can get into some really tight places.

I bought the regular DeWalt right angle adapter 2-3 BFs ago, $10 sale I think? Saved me once screwing scabs onto rafters far back in the cavity, but don’t think I have used it again since.
Side handle is a nice feature on the modular, but I don’t think it adds much utility over the one-piece version, only convenience. And can’t see any use cases where the shorter variant is necessary if you already have the longer one.
Pass for me – but for somebody who doesn’t have any right angle adapter I would drop the $20 on the modular for the day it is needed.

I bought the more basic version bundled with a bit set a year or two ago and really like it. I’ve only needed it a few times, but sometimes this is the only tools that will work. Mine has worked great, but sometimes it can be tough to get a good grip when you’re working in a tight space.

I have used right angle adapters for over 20 years. When you need one, you need one. I have one from Mac or Snap-On, says Milwaukee on it. I broke that using an impact driver. I now have a Dewalt DWAMRASETFT. It’s saved me countless times. The flexible shaft is worth its weight in gold (or whatever the hot commodity is these days).

I have two. One I received to review. Both are identical in their ability to set screws, and both can get into tight places. One has a built in light on the front. I use mine about 2x per year, but when I need it, it definitely helps to reach where something else would require an additional hole, os some other method to get to. Typically inside holes/chaises/j-boxes are where they are useful. So an electrician who has to remodel old stuff in place might use something like this the most.

That’s one of the benefits of the modularity – you can swap out the heads.

Stuart, thanks for all of your posts, big and small, as this one is. A suggestion, however:
Have an employee scan the sku and look at sales as well as inventory. It might give some insight whether these items are popular with shoppers or shoplifters. Could be either.
If a theft hasn’t been identified and adjustments haven’t been made to cycle counts, the online availability won’t reflect what’s actually in the store.

I tend to visit several stores multiple times over the course of the Black Friday and holiday shopping season.
Often, trends will appear where certain products appear to sell pretty fast while others don’t. Stores also tend to have replenishment inventory for certain SKUs.
Shrink is always a possibility, but I don’t think that’s what’s happening here.

I’ve got one of these, and a ‘skewdriver’ that is similar. Both are priceless when working under the dash in your car. Replacing HVAC motors, actuators or resistor cards. Never used them with my drill, only by hand.
