New Dewalt 17″ Roller Tool Bag

Dewalt DG5570 Roller Tool Bag

Dewalt has recently introduced a new 17″ roller tool bag, model DG5570, alongside an also-new LED-lit backpack.

The new roller tool bag features large wheels, a telescoping handle, large interior pocket, 6 interior pockets, and 11 outside pockets for all your tool-storage and organizing needs.

There are also padded carrying handles for when you need to quickly move the bag without rolling it, such as up and down stairs or to and from your truck. It looks like there are plastic feet to help keep your bag stable and clean.

A nice touch is the zippered flap that folds up to provide quick and clear access to tools. Plus, it magnetically attaches to the telescoping handle to help ensure it stays out of the way.

The bag measures 17″ wide by 12.5″ tall by 9.5″ deep.

Price: $100

CLC Techgear Roller Tool Bag with LED

As with the new backpack, it looks like CLC (Custom LeatherCraft) also makes the rolling tool bag for Dewalt. There is a difference though – the CLC version comes with an LED handle module. There could be other minor differences, but the LED module is the most glaring one.

The CLC bag is also priced at around $100.

A Note About Dewalt Tool Bags

I like ’em. I have a ~16″ boxy Dewalt tool bag that I bought years ago, and it continues to serve me well. Stanley and Stanley FatMax also make decent bags, but they’re generally smaller.

I can’t vouch for this one (yet?), but I have a good feeling about it. It essentially looks like my Dewalt tool bag, but with wheels and an extending handle.

$100 is a lot to spend on a tool bag – at least one that’s not a Veto Pro Pac or Occidental Leather (which often cost more) – but seems to be on the low side for rolling tool bags.

If you want to spend a little less, check out Husky’s rolling tool bags at Home Depot. I’ve seen a couple of maintenance techs travel around with Husky roller bags, and they always look well-used but in great shape.

I already have the DeWalt 18″ contractor bag and it’s holding up well.

Would love to see shots of the rolling bag’s wheels and to know if I can stack my existing bag on top of this one.

There are more photos of the CLC bag here: http://goclc.com/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=L258 . They’re “treaded,” as the Dewalt bag is said to have, but there might be differences.

Hey stu quick question. I’d be grateful for other readers input as well. I’m looking for something to carry my cordless gear in. I’ve got the makita lxt line and the longest tool is the sawzall at just under 18″. I used to carry the drills in a case with the batteries and charger and some bits and stuff but I need something to carry the rest. Until now it’s just been a duffel bag but I want more organization for accessories and as much protection as possible. Something ridgid, but not necessarily hard shell. Id love to get it all in sustainers or lboxxs but that’s not really in the budget. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Love your site. One of only few I check every day. Thanks again. Keep up the great work

Take a look at big the Milwaukee (sorry, wrong color I know) job box at Home Depot. Its plastic but not structural foam like the LBoxx, Ridgid Pro, etc.

Its pretty big, and Ive seen a few configurations of Milwaukee tools piled into it including a recip saw. Stu did a review of it on this site a few months ago….should be able to find it easily.

Hi, Not specifically what you were asking about but I have been using a Keter Masterloader for over a year now and it is really good and far more robust than initial appearances would indicate.

I do A/C installs and it carries all my cordless as well as my hand tools and accessories and fixings,

        I would certainly buy another.

Awesome!!! Thank you Glenn. I’ve never seen that before but it looks sweet. Ive got a folding table by keeter that I goit at Walmart before xmas one year and the thing will not die. Its got about 700 kerf cuts in it and still keeps going strong, Definitely a quality product so I think I am going to give this cart a shot. It looks like it’d be super useful for one thing or another either way.

You are most welcome, thought you might like it.

Its been an absolute bonus for me. Its a big time saver as well, having everything I need and organised at hand.

If you do buy one, remember it is lockable, I bought a small diameter long U padlock and a 2 metre cable so I can lock it to the tray of the ute (pick-up to you guys). .

Also I bought as,small electricians tool pouch which sits in the bottom to keep my most used hand tool , well, at hand!

            Cheers

Veto’s totes are awesome, but they offer zero organization. Not much protection compared to a tool box, and no wheels means you’ve got to hand-carry everything.

I do like Milwaukee’s new tool boxes, and they might fit the bill. Ridgid’s gear cart (https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/ridgid-pro-tool-storage-review/%3C/a%3E%29 might be better if you want wheels. I haven’t checked to see if it could hold a recip saw.

If you use a wide-open bag or box, you could always use canvas bags or small cases for accessory organization.

Dewalt’s ToughSystem cases are another option, but the medium-sized unit doesn’t have much in the form of internal organization.

This rolling tool bag might also be suitable, but that depends on whether the recip saw can fit in diagonally or not.

HD offers a nice 22″ rolling bag (it is a bit heavy) but organized well, lots of room and protective – these bags show as $99 on line but in stores you can pick them up for $65 with the bonus bag – I have two of them and really like the convenience

Ps. After looking at it just now kinda leaning toward veto tote. I’ve got the xxl for my hand tools and it’s a beast. Still any ideas would be sweet. Thanks again

If you are looking at non-rigid upgrades from duffel (and don’t already have your heart set and finances ready for the Veto), you might consider CLC’s soft-sided options. I have been very happy with the 18″ Multi-compartment Tool Carrier (1539) as my main portable bag (I loved but could not justify the cost of the Veto for my use). I can fit my DeWalt reciprocating saw in the center compartment of the CLC, but it is probably over-pocketed for your application, so some of the longer options, like the 1164, 1530, or 1579 might be better.

Needs to be 24 inches long with a very light grey interior color and a rigid flap lid…….imagine a tough box made from cordura instead of plastic. should be lower like a veto xxl open top, blah blah blah.

please somebody hire me as a tool bag carrier consultant……..your all doing it wrong.

I just recently bought into the ridged line. I LOVE them so far.
I carry a circ saw, sawzaw, dirt devil, multitool, versa cut(small circ saw) two chargers and a few accessories/hand tools. And that’s just in the bottom wheeled tote. The main tool box carries a lottt of hand tools and ppe. The small parts case is perfect for my 12v drill and impact driver. Plus all my bits and small items. The ridged cases are fantastic and hold all my 18v and 12v tools.
