Dewalt ToughSystem Rolling Tool Box is $55 w/ Free Shipping

Dewalt ToughSystem Rolling Tool Box DWST08250

Home Depot has the original Dewalt ToughSystem rolling tool box, DWST08250, on sale for $59 with free shipping.

No, this isn’t the new ToughSystem 2.0 tool box. And yes, it can “only” be loaded with up to 88 pounds of tools and gear.

And… Yeah, I’m not quite sure what else to say here. Is this the best rolling tool box out there? No. Is it the best rolling tool box for anywhere in the vicinity of its $59 price tag? Absolutely.

I’ve seen this Dewalt ToughSystem rolling tool box priced at $59 before, but it’s often priced higher. I mean, you cannot even get the Dewalt Tstak rolling tool box for this low right now. At the time of this posting, the lighter duty Tstak rolling tool box is $62 at Amazon.

We’re going to be talking about all kinds of modular tool box bundle deals over the next few weeks, both Dewalt and other brands’, and there might be another rolling tool box deal or two. But, most deals will be for 3-piece bundles where you get a rolling tool box and some other boxes you might or might not need or want to pay for.

If you’re looking for just a rolling tool box, this “special buy” is going to be very hard to beat.

Price: $59 $55

From what I have seen, Dewalt ToughSystem tool boxes are made in the USA or Israel, depending on the model.

Note: If you ordered this at $59, give Home Depot a call and ask for a price-match.

I think of $60 as the “normal sale price” for this. I’ve pegged $42 as “normal sale price” for the tstack or versastack on wheels but I may have miscallibrated that based on a few pricing mistakes at lowes. Unless I have an urgent need I wouldn’t pay more than this price for it but I’m not going to stock up at this price either. I think in the three box tower for $99 we were at equivalent of $55 for toughsystem on wheels?

It’s hard to say. I’ve looked at my post history, and $59 seems to have been the low point.

Dewalt still offers this tool box bundled with select cordless power tool combos, but we probably won’t see any more ToughSystem 1.0 tool box bundles. They have a ToughSystem 2.0 organizer in the gift center and ToughSystem 2.0 components (and rolling tool boxes) in the top racks waiting for the deployment date.

It’s only available online, which means stores don’t have inventory, and they won’t be able to offer it for $59 and with free shipping indefinitely.

I posted about this because there are going to be lighter duty tool box combos at higher price points, and on-par or better quality combos at much higher pricing. I figured I’d precede those deal discussions with this one in case anyone was shopping for just a rolling tool box without other organizers, totes, or tool box sizes added in.

This seems to be the historical low price, and I don’t know of any other rolling tool box that can rival this one for anywhere close to its pricing. Even the Ridgid Pro tool box is $75 right now. There’s always a Ridgid Black Friday deal, but usually only on the 3pc bundles.

… oh wow, it’s not showing on ACME any more. I guess with toughsystem 2.0 out I’ve fallen behind the times!
I still just wish somebody would put out a multiple drawer unit on wheels so you don’t have to unstack all the boxes. If the wheeled box goes with me on every service call (because it has wheels) it should have the stuff I know I’ll use, but then I have to unload everything to get to the stuff I know I’ll use. So put frequent use stuff in a box at the top of the stack or in drawers, but then I’ve got a dumb wheeled box on the bottom full of stuff I don’t expect to use but bring with me every time anyway? DS carrier has been my solution, but that beast is overkill for finish work or service calls.

Not perfect, but something like this maybe good for your wants/needs:

          https://www.dewalt.com/products/storage-and-gear/tool-storage/multilevel-workshop/dwst20880

It’s not as heavy duty as a ToughSystem or Packout, but I’d buy a dozen of these before I ever stack, unstack, and restack a bunch of expensive totes.

I agree that a lot of these “box systems” just amount to overpriced totes, but I will say, I have one of the items you linked but in Stanley branding and it is the jankiest shit I’ve ever used. It does not open or roll gracefully and requires a huge about of space to open. I don’t live in a big house or have a garage, so tool storage is hard when your a tool junkie like me. The fact that the box needs so much room to open makes it hard to leave against the wall and pop open when needed. True, the totes have to be unstacked and restacked, but that can be done with very limited space. I’m still looking for a Google mobile tool storage option since I don’t have a garage and have to bring all my tools outside to work on my car lest I want to run in and out of my apartment multiple times.

On the HD page it mentions two FREE shipping options – to Store and to Home. Underneath it reads right now “We’ll send up to 1,412 to Rio Rancho for free pickup”, so it looks like there are quite a few of these in stock, at the moment.

I ordered one yesterday morning, and after 5 PM (on the same day) got email that it “just shipped”.

Yes, but you can only order online either way.

Ship to home for me has a 2-day ETA, and ship to store has a 7-14 day ETA.

      For hand boxes like these?

There’s going to be at least one Packout combo, maybe two, plus I’m sure ToughSystem, Ridgid, Craftsman, maybe Hart.

Never saw this in person. Has anyone used this and bungee’d a crate and bag on top? Is it underbuilt for that? I have held off on the rigid and some others because the smell seems toxic – and I work part time at a dump, so I tolerate smells. ( the things i put up with to get free stereos, tools, t.v.’s bicycles…wait, they pay me too?) I HATE the waste I see and have been responsible for in the past, by not getting something well made and “more than I need now, but will grow into”. The Germans make products from such a different mentality. Well built, safety and longevity – except for their bad habit of declaring war “ON THE WORLD” every number of decades, they have the right idea. I think I just convinced myself not to buy this and put the money together and “bite the bullet” by getting the best I can. I’ll have to go back over your posts, Stuart, and review your reviews. Anyone want to suggest a three piece rolling toolbox? I do have some money saved by not buying anything from the Lee Valley Seconds sale yeaterday. I had 1,611 people ahead of me (I took screenshots), got into the site and forced myself to not buy anything I don’t need, though I lusted after the shooting plane.

88 pounds? Is that just the bottom box or is that the total for it plus the two or three boxes that might be stacked on top of it? Is it because the bottom will fall out or is it because the handle will snap off like some of the Tstak/VersaStaks do?

The 2.0 holds something like 250 pounds isn’t it? Seems like it may be a whole lot more robust for not a whole lot more money.

I think it has to do with the side handles, as the same design is shared with other ToughSystem 1.0 tool boxes.

This box didn’t exist when ToughSystem was first introduced – it came much later. Or they might be factoring in the weight of several boxes on top as well, and the strength of the wheels.

The mobile tool box is $54.97 now. Medium and Extra Large toolboxes (old ToughSystem version) are also on sale.
