The first thing I typically do in the mornings is check my Amazon cart to see if saved items dropped in price. Well, this morning I was greeted with a price drop of ~$10 on Dewalt’s large ToughSystem storage case.
Update: The small case just dropped in price as well, to $40.

If you’re not familiar with Dewalt ToughSystem tool boxes, be sure to check out our review and overview. We also compared the ToughSystem cases to Bosch L-Boxxes.
ToughSystem tool boxes are tough, sturdy, strong, water- and dust-proof, and on top of all that they’re a great bargain.
So when I saw that the large ToughSystem tool case had dropped to $39, it took me a good minute to convince myself that we don’t need to add to the ~2-dozen that are currently in use in storage and in the field.
But then I remembered that Amazon is currently holding a $25 off $100+ Dewalt promo. If you buy 3 of these, the price drops to less than $31 each. At this point I’m biting my lip. These tool cases are incredibly versatile, and at $31 they’re practically a steal. Unfortunately, I can’t budget for any more tool boxes.
So… I came up with the genius idea to post about the deal right away. A couple of readers have been asking about if and when these cases will be going on sale (which is practically never). If I spread the word and Amazon sells out of the large cases at the $39 price, I won’t have to feel so bad about not having the budget to take advantage of the crazy-good prices.
The extra-large cases don’t seem to be on sale, although the new drawer case is a little cheaper than I remember ($71). The small case, which works well for compact 12V and 18V cordless power tools, dropped in price from $46.51 to an even $40.

Still, that $25 off $100+ discount works on all Dewalt ToughSystem products.

Of all the ToughSystem case sizes, I find the large to be the most versatile for general-purpose needs. I have an even mix of large and small cases, and with some of the small cases I removed the inner small parts partitions to make more room for tools. The extra large cases are a little too large for my purposes, but are well sized for holding larger circular saws and other bulky tools.
All ToughSystem cases lock together and have top and side handles. The small case has an added front handle and small parts compartments behind the inner lid partition, and the large case has a removable tote.
These tool boxes are made from construction foam, which is a thick and rigid material. You’re not going to find better-built hand-portable tool boxes, and definitely not for what these are selling for.

A few months ago, Home Depot Canada cleared all of these out. They kept dropping the price until everything was gone, but it eventually hit $14 for the small, $17 for the medium and $19 for the large (CDN $).

FYI… If you are going to buy the complete set, split up your order into two and you can save $25 off of each $100+ order.
