Amazon has a Prime Day deal on the Dewalt 20V Max XR 3-speed brushless hammer drill kit, model DCD1007WW1.
This is Dewalt’s most powerful 20V Max cordless drill, and it’s kitted with a fast charger and PowerPack 8Ah battery.
The sale price is $234.20, with Amazon saying this reflects savings of 33% off its full list price of $349.

Amazon isn’t labeling this as a Prime Day deal, they’re saying it’s a “limited time deal.” We don’t know when this promo will end, or how many they have available to sell at this price.

This drill is a beast. Dewalt sent one over for testing, and I have yet to find any flaws. It delivers high speed and powerful torque performance, the 3 speed settings come in handy, and its anti-kickback mechanism is simple but effective.
I was worried that the anti-kickback system would activate unintentionally, but it hasn’t been a problem for me.
So far, I would say that this is the best cordless drill Dewalt has ever made, at least out of all of the 20V Max models I’ve tested over the past 14 years since they launched this platform.
The Dewalt 20V Max XR PowerPack 8Ah battery is fantastic, and yes it does deliver better performance than many of the brand’s legacy batteries.
I feel that the price of ~$234 for the kit is a very good bargain. At the time of this posting Lowe’s has the same kit for $349, but is bundling it with a bonus PowerPack 8Ah battery. Home Depot has just the kit for $349 with no bonus tool or battery.

You have the choice between a hefty discount on the drill kit at Amazon, or spending full price and getting it with a second battery at Lowe’s.
Additional Pricing Details
The next-lowest price I could find for the same Dewalt cordless hammer drill kit from an authorized dealer seems to be at Acme Tools, which has the kit at $299. Thus, while Amazon says you’re saving 33% (nearly $115) from the $349 list price, I think it’s more accurate to say you’re saving nearly $65 compared to the next-best price right now.
The tool-only, DCD1007B, is selling for $193.27 at both Home Depot and Amazon.
Amazon is selling a 2-pack of PowerPack batteries for ~$293 right now. That’s the lowest price I’ve seen on the new PowerPack 8Ah battery.
Historical Deal Pricing
Looking at my notes and post history, the same drill kit was on sale at Lowe’s for $279 around Black Friday while Home Depot offered it at $349 with a bonus battery. As mentioned, the next-best price right now is $299 for the drill kit.
Amazon’s deal seems like the best bargain so far since the drill launched last year.

I’ll second the ability of this drill. I used it this spring to build a tree house for the kids. I needed to drill 7″ deep, 1″ diameter ship auger bits and shorter bores with a 3″ diameter wood bit, and it handled the job like a champ. I could easily manage the speed and it had more than enough torque to just grind through and make “potato chips” as my daughter called them. On the rare occasion where I got going too fast and the bit caught, the anti-kickback feature saved my wrists.
Really, really solid drill. Aside from being heavy, I have no negatives.
The bare tool was available on Amazon for $189, which is what I paid back in January. I think it’s only a bit more now.

Yep – $193 and change. That’s not bad for the tool-only, but I’d say it’s worth stepping up to the ~$234 sale price for the kit. The 8Ah tabless cell battery is just perfect for this drill.

I bought one of these earlier in the year when they were on sale with an extra 8ah battery. It’s seriously a beast of a drill, I’ve taken to using it for some jobs that I previously would drag out the Flexvolt stud-and-joist model for, like drilling stumps to accelerate decomposition, and mixing. The bind-up protection was my main reason for buying it, and it performs very well. I had one too many close calls with my old 990 and decided to finally retire it. The support handle is worth mentioning too. Those often feel like a cheap afterthought while the one on the DCD1007 is very nice and solid.
My only gripe with it is that it is quite heavy so it’s not a drill you want to grab for a bunch of repetitive overhead work.

Any thoughts on this one vs. the 60v mixer/drill (DCD130)? That’s currently $210 for the bare tool on Woot, which caught my eye.
MM
I’ve never used a DCD130 so I can’t offer any first hand experience. However, on paper they seem similar for low-speed performance, with the 1007 looking like it would have a slight edge. According to Dewalt they’re essentially the same power (1540 vs 1530 WMO). However, the 1007 is 0-450 rpm in low gear whereas the 130 is 0-600 rpm, so theoretically the 1007 should have a bit more torque due to lower gearing. They both have bind-up protection. For things other than mixing the 1007 is the clear winner–it has multiple speed ranges, a keyless chuck, clutch, and hammer function.
I’ve used the 1007 to mix single sacks of concrete in 5-gal buckets, it does that just fine, though any more than 1 sack and I’ll go get my DCD460.

Do you want a dedicated mixer that requires a FlexVolt battery? DCD130.
Drilling holes, using most drilling accessories (such as augers), or driving fasteners? Get the 3-speed hammer drill.
Need a compact and lighter drill for light to medium demand drilling and driving tasks? Get something else.
As MM said, the application speeds will be different, and suitability really depends on what your primary use will be.

I paid $175 for this kit at Ace. They were doing a pre renovation sale to clear some items off the shelf at 50% off. Everything on sale had about an inch of dust on it . . . . . Except for this drill. I still think an employee maybe “misapplied” the sale in the hopes of getting it themselves end of day
Either way it’s been a beast of a drill at an amazing price. Would not expect to see it that low anywhere for years though, if ever.
Kingsley
It’s $400 in the UK bare!
If amazon would ship this with the battery, I’d buy it now. They will ship it bare, but with import duty and VAT it’s not worth the risk as there’s no 3 year warranty on imports
