Dremel has teased that a Dremel Pet Shop is coming soon.
Dremel already has lower-power rotary tools and accessories for trimming pet and dog nails.
There’s no indication as to what the new Dremel Pet Shop will involve, and whether it will feature new tools and accessories or a curated selected of existing products.

I wonder if this will be another collab, like the sneakers they launched late last year.
Maybe Dremel is partnering with a pet store chain, similar to how Lowe’s partnered with Petco?

Dremel recently promoted their DIY advice service, and – doesn’t this look like Shaggy?! Maybe there could be a Scooby Doo collab.
Here’s that video clip:
It’ll be interesting to see what Dremel’s Pet Shop is all about.

I remember the pet rock in the 80s. I guess they could do a pet Dremel.
I mean there’s plenty of accessories to give it but I hope they don’t give one to any little kids. I’d hate to see any tool pet related injuries.

I think the connection between Dremel and pets is strange. Stuart mentioned they apparently make cordless grooming tools (that’s a thing?) but it sounds far out of left field to me. My first feeling was this was something along the lines of those customizable sneakers–maybe some kind of pet-themed craft project that you use Dremel tools to create? But that does look an awful lot like Shaggy….
Stuart
I don’t know the exact history, but it seems pet grooming was a popular way to use their tools. Dremel simply leveraged that idea and launched lower power and lower cost tools suited for such purposes. It was a smart idea.

We’ve got a dremel pet version for trimming our dogs nails. Sanding drum attachment works awesome. Anyone that has trimmed a fidgety dog’s nails with the old clippers has probably drawn blood. Not an issue with the sanding drum. Faster, and the dogs don’t stress at all, but a bit of dust so you really want to do it outside.
Maybe they will make a leaf blower for drying pets off after bath time??!!
Cordless pooper scoooper? Wi-Fi litter box with ejector clump action??

Keith, that was my thought as well, but my dog can’t STAND the motor sound. It’s just like the vacuum. Way easier to go the non-powered route in my case. Though perhaps there is a possibility for health care…when I went to the podiatrist last it was more than a little unsettling he had a dremel tool hanging off the exam bed!

🤣 that guy indeed has some serious Shaggy vibes!

We use a dremel and a flex shaft, with a Dura-Grit sanding wheel to do our dogs nails. We’ve bought the cordless dremel pet tool, but found it lacked the speed and power. Same with the earlier cordless dremels. I’ve had 3000 or 4000 series dremels for garage use and now one of them is for the dogs.
I’m curious about the new line/collab, but find most iterations are just more expensive versions of the tool that already existed.

I think hooking your pet up to a dremel tool is frowned upon by peta.

It really seems like bosch uses their marketing department for Dremel also with their odd strategies.
If they had a campaign where they noted that they sent products to pet groomers or that many pet care professionals already use their products, it would make sense to have a more serious campaign.
Instead, Dremel Pet Shop sounds like it should have a voice-over by a bubbly teen in a toy commercial.
Maybe the context works better in Europe?

Dog groomers have been using rotary tools for a while, I guess this is Dremel trying to use marketing to get pet owners to buy the stuff for the same purpose

I have a new corporate tagline for them…
Dremel, almost as confused as Lowes.

We use a diamond bit in an old Dremel Stylus to do all our dogs nails. Works fantastically, so this makes sense. I could easily see them branding their existing nail grinders and maybe adding some small powered hair clippers and whatnot.

Okay, Dremel for pets’ nails. What else? Power wash? Power dry? I got nuthin.
I could see a Roomba sort of thing for backyard poop, but Roomba’s not even doing that (as far as I know, anyway).

I bought the dog nail trimmer attachment and it didn’t work very well for my situation.
I now use my m12 right angle die grinder with an 80 grit sanding pad on low speed with much more success.

Speaking of power tool brands that have lost their spark…
Dremel worked themselves into a corner years ago with specializing in rotary tools. It seems like they’ve spent decades trying to be something more with limited success.
Though until Diablo released their oscillating tool blade lineup, Dremel oscillating blades were my go-to for cut consistency and longevity. Diablo just does it better, imo.
Stuart
Diablo and Dremel are owned by the same parent company.

I’ve been using my regular 20 year old dremal for my dogs a long time. Don’t really see a need for a special one. The only thing is if your dog has long hair it can get caught in the shaft. The reason for pet style ones having the plastic guard.
