Irwin 1902416 high leverage linemans pliers with fish tape puller and crimper

Last month, Ben told you about Amazon’s 20% off qualifying Irwin tools sale, and I followed up by emphasizing that the extra discount applies to Irwin’s Max-Leverage cutting pliers which I very highly recommend.

I just checked, and there are more Irwin tools eligible for the deal, including more of their NWS-made pliers. Those pliers are excellent, and made in Germany. There are also some new Lenox additions to the sale.

If you checked the deal list at the start of the holiday season, now might be a good time to give it another look over. The promo ends 12/31/2015.

These are the premium pliers eligible for the discount:

  • 8″ Max-Leverage Diagonal Cutters
  • 7″ Max-Leverage Diagonal Cutters
  • 8″ Max-Leverage End-Cutting Pliers
  • 8″ Long Nose Ergonomic Multi-Pliers
  • 8″ High Leverage Lineman’s Pliers
  • 9-1/2″ Lineman’s Pliers with Fish Tape Puller and Crimper

There are a number of other Irwin pliers eligible for the discount. I’ve tried a couple of those in the past, and they’re quite good too – for the money. But if you’re looking for a higher caliber of pliers that could hold their own against premium offerings, you’ll want to step up to these.

More Eligible Tools

At the start of the promo, there were 63 tools eligible for the discount. That number is now up to 225.

I would definitely be interested but recently picked up the Wiha 30936 Professional Bi-Cut from the KC tool BF sale. They are really nice and inspired me to dump a bunch of nearly useless cheap cutters that were clogging up one of my tool drawers.

I picked up some of the diagonal cutters and a set of the ergonomic long nose pliers on clearance at Lowe’s. Outstanding quality and feel, and the cutters get used more than my Craftsman, Channellock, and other brands.

I saw the cutters on sale there, I was tempted to pick them up. I believe they were under $30.

People in Garage Journal were finding them for as low as $6. Every store around me was full price; I finally found one in Richmond that had a few for $11.

I always hate hearing about deals like that because I never get them. Sometimes I’ll get lucky and find the clearance items, but every time I wait for a price drop someone else picks them up first.

Wow, those prices look like they’re in Lire.

Dykes for $42 or whatever they’re priced at.

If you’re a surgeon/carpenter/whatever then they’re good to go. If you work in a production environment where tools grow legs or get lost in the fray…not good.

Sure they’re German, so is my wife. But, they’re tools made from steel, not Gold.

Those NWS-made pliers are absolutely fantastic. The Irwin version even looks better than the NWS models which have handles that are very…busy.

They seem to be made from unobtanium . Hard to find the full collection, on line , just odd models . I have good access to NWS , thru Chads Tool Box , and some models thru Lee Valley .

I just bought the 8″ Max-Leverage Diagonal Cutters. They’re really smooth and cut like butter. I’d be reluctant to pay the full price but the sale price made them a nice purchase.

    Thanks Stuart!
