Felo’s Squishy Ergonomic Screwdrivers are Fantastic

Felo 17pc Ergonomic Screwdriver Set

Felo’s Ergonic screwdrivers have a unique squishy handle that’s comfortable to hold, squeeze, and turn.

I started another workshop deep-decluttering, and came upon a couple of my Felo screwdrivers. I have a bunch in different places, and believe these were my oldest ones. The handles feel as good as new!

I have the set above, and probably enough loose Felo ergonomic screwdrivers to build a complete second set.

Part of my deep decluttering process means I’ll be parting with duplicate and unused tools, even some high quality top-tier hand tools.

While not my favorites, I am unlikely to part with my Felo Ergonic screwdrivers anytime soon. The handles are soft, the tips are hard and wear resistant, and they fit all kinds of applications with ease.

Every now and then I toy with the idea of adding to my Felo screwdriver selection – maybe someday.

Around 6 years ago, KC Tool had a special $5 promo on Felo Phillips #2 screwdrivers, as part of a fundraiser they were running. I ordered 24 of them, and gave them away to friends, family, a couple of readers, and local tradespeople.

Anyway, if you don’t need everything in this 17pc Felo set, they have smaller sets available.

Or, spring for a Phillips #2 – or whatever your most-used screwdriver style and size is – and give that a try before opening your wallet bigger.

The handles have a bit of give to them. It might not be for everyone, although I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say a bad thing about these screwdrivers.

Here’s what you get with the 17pc set:

Phillips

  • PH1 x 3-1/8″
  • PH2 x 4″
  • PH1 x 3 1/8″ Insulated
  • PH2 x 4″ Insulated

Torx

  • T10 x 4″
  • T15 x 4″
  • T20 x 4″
  • T25 x 4″

Slotted

  • 1/8″ x 3-1/8″
  • 5/32″ x 4″
  • 7/32″ x 5″
  • 1/4″ x 5″
  • 5/16″ x 7″
  • 9/64″ x 4″ Insulated
  • 5/32″ x 4″ Insulated

Square

  • SQ1 x 5″
  • SQ2 x 6″

It also comes with a steel wall-mountable rack.

At the time of this posting, Amazon has the 17pc set for $115.

Felo screwdrivers are among my favorites. I much prefer their handle shape to Wera’s.

The insert bit-holding screwdriver handle is an excellent way to try it out before buying a set.

I have one insulated Felo bit driver that is a pleasure to use. I wanted one for small electrical tasks around the house so the bit holder was an economical route. I’d like some of their standard drivers at some point to replace some old hard handled craftsman that started breaking down.

I have that one too. It’s great! Though I think some people might wonder why an insulated bit-holding screwdriver is necessary. The magnet is super-strong, so there’s no risk of it falling out.

I think my absolute favorite screwdrivers are the Heycos with the transparent green handles. I have Wera drivers as well with the ergonomic handles, but I find myself reaching for the Heycos over and over again. I’m not exactly sure why, but the transparent green, non ergonomic, handles actually feel amazing to use. Maybe someday I’ll have to try some of these Felos.

I got a couple of those Heyco sets when they were on sale at KC Tool last Christmas. They do feel good in the hand. Mine also say W Germany on them, which was odd because I don’t think they’re NOS.

We had a batch of Heyco rivet sets for 2mm to 6mm rivets. I did not realize that they were still available – but KCTool lists them.

Also looking around KCTool’s Heyco items – I spied this set:

        https://www.kctool.com/heyco-universal-v-belt-and-cam-belt-wrench-set-10-pieces/

Since I haven’t worked on cars in over 50 years – I wonder if this set has any use or if it fits in line with our old rivet sets.

I have several Felo magnetic nut drivers and a bit driver. Felo’s Ergonic handles are the best handles out there. Not too big, comfortable and just the right amount of squish. Wiha handles are a close second.

Definately would like to add more Felo to my collection.

KC Tool has various 1” Felo screwdriver bits available. I keep them on a wish list and use them to pad an order when I want to squeak over the $75 free shipping threshold. Some examples:

      Etc….

Love KC Tool. They have some great tool of the day deals, that are usually not such a good deal when adding in shipping. I also will keep things on the wish list to pad the cart. 😀

I have lots of Felo Phillips #2 bits thanks to KC Tool sending one along as an extra (they call it a “bit of thanks” with each order. Otherwise, my fellow experience is limited to a T-Handle bit driver that I like well enough:

    https://www.acmetools.com/felo-t-handle-hex-bit-holder-1-4-in-x-5-in-07157-32350/4007157323507.html

I may need to give some of their other drivers a try – if I’m ever in the market for a new driver.

Meanwhile – looking over Felo offerings on KC Tool – I spotted some “Plus-Minus” (aka Xeno or terminal block) bits with Pozidriv rather than Phillips tips and this oddball SDS shank screwdriver bit holder:

    https://www.kctool.com/felo-4-magnetholder-sds-to-1-4-bit-holder/

I guess one might use a small SDS drill to drive screws in a pinch – but can’t imagine that this holder is a big seller.

I used a Wiha ESD soft finishT10 (large, yellow handles) for an hour, in taking apart an EGO+ 21″ mower and let me say… I wish I remembered I had a set of hex-Torx bits for the screwgun that were long reach (6″)! My hand hurt for three days doing it manually.
I want to see a set with tray option, and squishy and Pozi drive options.

I just bought a Felo Smart Box, back when they were metal, and called it good.

Years ago, I did own a Felo 1/4″ socket and ratchet set in the typical black German steel box, but it was awful. Terrible ratchet, dunno who made it. Onto eBay it went.

In another small black box, I’ve got one of those Felo SAE handle+nut runner blade kits which is way cool, but it’s way unused. Kind of a pity.

Really, I wonder how many tools a person could get rid of with no change in work output. My guess is that the average home player automotive guy could make do with a Craftsman Rally box plus a place to stick a few prybars and a torque wrench.

Wow, the price really went up. I bought them the last time mentioned here but for $87… I like them, but as DIY it would be too hard to justify it at this higher price. It wasn’t easy at $90, but I didn’t have a nice set. I had some bday money so splurged…

      That wasn’t the regular price.

From what I’ve seen, these screwdrivers tend to run $8 apiece in 5pc sets and higher, and usually more individually.

The 17pc set tends to be priced at $125 to $150.

I was recently in the market for a set of metric hex screw drivers to fiddle with my new RC car hobby. Which by the way is a super fun hobby.

    I landed on Bondhus.
    Bondhus 10686 1.5-5mm Balldriver Screwdrivers, 6 Piece Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006O4AD8

So far I’ve really enjoyed these little guys. The handles are way softer then any other set of screw drivers I have (which isn’t much)

I’ve been using that style for nearly 20 years now – I bought 2 sizes from McMaster in 2006, and then a couple of sets since then.

I have since moved to different brands for straight hex, but my Bondhus ball hex are still doing just fine.

Bondhus ball-tip drivers are great for R/C. Those are what I used many years ago, though mine had the older style transparent plastic handles. Just be careful not to use ball-tip drivers for pinion setscrews, that is asking to break or strip something.

I have more Wiha ball-end metric hex drivers than I do Bondhus.
But I have more Bondhus ones for fractional inch sizes.
I really like the Bondhus ones with long shafts.
I bought this set 10 years ago and I find that I need the extra reach more often that I would have supposed. I paid $25 for the set in 2014 – so it wasn’t a big investment. At today’s $60 price I might think about it.
