The Flir C5 pocket thermal camera is currently discounted at Amazon to $599.
I stopped following Flir pricing, and so I can’t tell you what the regular price is. Amazon says you save 25% off $799.
The C5 features a 160×120 pixel thermal imaging sensor, the brand’s MSX image enhancing tech that embosses visual contrast over a thermal image map, 3.5″ touch screen display, IP54 rating, and 2 meter drop protection.

From what I can tell, it’s similar to their iPhone and Android smartphone attachments, but with a screen and rechargeable battery.

The Flir Cx5 is not on sale, and is the “hazardous location” version of the same thermal imaging camera. Flir’s marketing materials say the Cx5 is “certified for use in many explosive environments.”
I tested a Flir C-series pocket imager a while back, and it was a bit clumsy to use. Maybe things have changed with these newer models.

Like the FLIR E4 that I have – this one is made in their factory in Estonia. When I drove from Tallinn to St. Petersburg (not sure I’d want to do that under current circumstances) – you see the factory off to the left in about 15 minutes.

I was hoping the UNI-T UTi260B (256 x 192 sensor) would go on sale, but it did not. I could really use a thermal camera of any brand, but so far I have not found one that I can afford.

I’ve had the SEEK thermal phone addition for years. The App has some dumb issues but the camera has been solid.
Even compared readings to my Fluke at work and its pretty dead on

I currently have one of these and was quite impressed. Ive used the Flir phone attachment in the past, and this is equivalent. The only downside would be that it is more difficult to share photos off the standalone device vs sending straight off a phone.

Very useful for turning the tables on trophy-hunting aliens.

I have been waiting for years for the right flir to hit a diy / troubleshooting friendly price point, ruling out phone based options due to protective cases & connector depth … every time I looked the quality may be there, but the competition offers a lot better value. Ideally Bosch might have had something with 12v for the right price. Bit the bullet past summer during the amazon summer sale on one of the best reviewed “ off brand “ units with better resolution. Bit bulky perhaps, but does what it needs.

Which one did you buy?

Thanks!

I pulled off a Kaiweets thermal imager, for a little over $200. It looks like a rebadged HTI 18+ , and probably is.
256 x 192 thermal resolution at 25hz refresh, visible light secondary camera. It works rather well. They seem to have sold out, so I think I got a good deal.
I’m sure flir has a quality product, but there are a lot of well-priced competitors out there.

Anyone ever compared the phone version between Flir Fluke and Klein?
Mike
Camelcamelcamel.com anytime before you spend money thinking it’s onsale. Love that site, but looks like it’s ok an ok deal if you are set on this model. I need a new one but not sure I’m married to the flir name anymore.

Decent pistol grip camera/thermal imager units can be had for $150 on eBay, more than adequate for basic functionalities like this officially branded model.
I got one years ago for checking electrical panels, never used it for anything more than a novelty though

A friend got a Flir back in the day…and he got some software that let him unlock the features that Flir put behind a paywall. I think it greedy to dumb down a device that is already overpriced. This along with a spot-thermometer, should be in everyone’s tool chest. Homebuying, troubleshooting thermal issues like hot wallwarts, internal wiring, breakers… not to mention hunting Predators…
I am glad for others recommending less-expensive solutions… might try that Topdon product…

Yup. I bought an 80×60 Flir E4 but it has a 320×240 sensor.
I tweaked mine to get 16X the resolution.

I wish the Seek Shot Pro would go on sale for ~$450 again….
It is easily the best in class unit even though it is old and low FPS.

I bought one of these last year for a lot less. The only issue I have that I didn’t realize when I bought it, is it won’t record video. Besides that, it’s OK. But this year’s ‘sale’ price is too high, especially with all the current competition.

Have been looking for a decent flir product for well over a year for my cousin. We do A LOT of camping and have had a couple situations where night vision could have come in handy. The area where we live is bear free but southern Ohio camping means that is not the case. Always nice to know your surroundings. Thank you
