Leatherman has a HOT deal for Labor Day 2024 – spend $150+ and get a FREE Leatherman FREE T2 multi-tool.
That’s right, for once the FREE part isn’t just referring to the magnetic tool access feature, you can get a FREE T2 tool for $0 with eligible orders.
This seems like a great deal if you were planning on picking up a couple of Leatherman tools or knives for gifts, or maybe a higher-priced tool for yourself, such as the ARC.

I own a few Leatherman FREE tools and knives, and really like them. I don’t believe I’ve tried the T2 yet, but it looks compact and of course multi-functional.
You have to spend at least $150 to get the free tool, which seems reasonable given its retail value of $49.95.
The deal ends on 9/2/2024.

Sign up for Leatherman’s free rewards program and you also get a free pocket clip that’s compatible with the FREE T2 tool.

I have a related question for people who have multiple tools like this. I have one leatherman I believe it’s my old wave. I don’t see how I could use multiple ones. I would only carry one at a time and I would never have more.
Do people store them in the car, do they use them at different times of the day? Do you wear a different tool for different occasions?

I just like EDC options. It’s completely unnecessary.
Stuart
With EDC-type gear, I rotate what I carry – if anything – depending on the circumstances or suitability.
Extras are left in the car, kitchen, or other places, or sometimes in a pile with other tools I’m not currently or actively using.
Having more than one sets someone on the path from tool user to enthusiast/collector.

Currently I almost never use multi-tools, but I own a few. For me they are emergency supplies. I have one in each vehicle, another with my camping stuff, and a Micra in my travel toiletries kit. When I was a student I’d keep the Micra in my backpack.
I have a handful of pocketknives that I rotate for EDC. Which one I stick in my pocket that day varies on the circumstances like Stuart wrote. I’m thinking about the sorts of tasks I expect to be doing and whom I will be around. If I know I’ll be in business meetings all day I’ll take something like a small Swiss Army Knife since I likely won’t have the need to cut anything substantial and a knife like that won’t freak out people in an office setting. On the other hand, if I know I’ll be working outdoors that day I’ll carry something more substantial.

I have a Leatherman Skeletool that I keep in my pocket at all times. Then a bigger one (can’t remember the name) that lives in the glovebox of the car, and another midsize one that goes in my hunting pack.

“Skeletool that I keep in my pocket at all times”…I am curious, do you mean the Skeletool multi tool or the knife? I have the Skeletool multi tool and I just can’t see myself carrying that in my pocket all the time; too big and heavy.
The Micra is about the only one I could carry in my pocket, although I have it on my key chain. Any of the knives could go in my pocket or clip to my pocket.
The multi tools; many have a sheath you can put on your belt, but I have always dislike anything like a phone, multi tools or anything else clipped to my belt…seems cumbersome
Do many many of you carry the multi tools in your pocket?

I have a Wingman at work and one in the car in case I forget to wear my EDC one.

My skeletool is lighter and more minimalist than my wingman – there are times I expect to want the tools my wingman has and times I’d rather have just the basics. It is obviously not necessary to have multiple, but different tools serve different purposes and different knives fit different scenarios.

I keep a Leatherman in each car, a Swiss Army knife in my backpack, and a folding blade clipped inside my front pocket.
I’ve found that for me, the he Wave is a little heavy for EDC, but ideal to have nearby.
Having a knife on my person, however, is an engrained habit.

Me also, just about any pair of pants or shorts I wear, there will be almost for sure a knife clipped to the pocket

If you had planned to make a qualifying purchase this sounds like a great deal – or a good enough deal to opt for a more expensive tool if you were between a few.

I didn’t know the T4 existed and I got it due to the post. An affiliate link may be a good idea.

I carry my very old leatherman with me every day; to the extent it wears my right side pocket out consistently. People know I will have it, and ask for it as often as I use it. Even just for the bottle opener. Cheers

I keep the original Leatherman in my biking backpack since it is one of my lightest. SuperTool in my wife’s truck and SuperTool 2 in my truck. Wingman in my pocket. I would have my Micra on my keychain but I need to replace the fastener on one end.

Well dog gonnit! Wasn’t intending to get a Leatherman today, but I’m getting an itch. I already have a Micra, Rebar, and Wave +. Anyone have any recommendations? What about the accessories that might be needed to get over the $150 bar?
Don Julio
ps. The Craftsman V-Series torx set has been bouncing down to $29.99 and back up for a few days. Down again as of this post.

I have a Wave+ with a Belt Holster, (Leatherman 934927 Nylon Black Sheath) I don’t like to carry stuff, or show what I carry, so I removed the “Leatherman name” from the holster. Once I started carrying this tool, I’ve used this tool three to five times every day, and often much more. It has become invaluable.
CMF
This is my problem, I need to find a way that carrying one with me everyday is comfortable or unobtrusive, basically forget you are carrying it, until you need it.
My Skeletool and Wingman have a variety of tools that the rare time I grab them, I forget how to locate them or what the tool has.
Having one daily, as you describe, makes them have value, as I am sure you become very accustomed to all the tool choices and configurations.
Don Julio
Thanks for the holster idea, Bob. I’ll keep it in mind.
I ended up getting the Skeletool CX, another Micra for a gift, the Wave + pocket clip and lanyard ring, and the replacement wire cutter kit for a grand total of $155.90, Just enough to get the free Free T2, and it’s all Stuart’s fault.
