I’ve been looking for a cherry industrial hand cleaner for some time now, so when I saw that Gojo came out with a cherry gel, I just had to try it.
Gojo Cherry Gel is a pumice hand cleaner that promises to quickly clean dirt, grease, and oil, and to feel refreshing on your hands. The bottle directions say to start with dry hands, rub the cleaner into your hands, add a few drops of water as you continue, and then rinse and wipe your hands dry.

Gojo Cherry Gel Smells Like…
If you have used orange hand cleaners before, you’re probably aware of how tiring the scent can get. That’s one of the main reasons why I was eager to give this one a try – because it wasn’t orange!
I find the scent of the cherry gel to be rather pleasing, and it reminds me of Luden’s wild cherry throat drops and similar cherry-flavored candies. I’ve used this gel quite a few times now, and still like the smell of it!
How Well Does it Work?
The gel does a great job of cutting through oil and grease. It has a smooth slightly watery gel consistency, and feels gentler than some of the other pumice cleaners I have tried in the past. After using the cherry gel about 20 times now, I find it to be a great heavy duty hand cleaner.
Does it Leave a Residue?
The cherry gel does contain petroleum distillates, but as mentioned in its MSDS, there are no health or ecological hazard. Cleaners with petroleum distillates can sometimes dry out your skin, but I don’t really see any changes after using this cleaner. I do have slightly dry hands, but after switching to this hand cleaner, I haven’t noticed any differences.
After rinsing off the cleaner and drying my hands, my hands don’t feel bone-dry. The gel does not leave an oily or greasy feeling, but when rubbing my fingers together I do feel an ever so slight lubrication and softness that I don’t mind at all.

Looking through the cleaner’s ingredients list and googling each unknown component, it doesn’t look like there are any added moisturizers.
I’m going to have to say that while I don’t feel any residue left on my skin, my hands do feel different somehow, and I don’t mind it. Maybe this is what Gojo is referring to when they say the gel feels refreshing.
Conclusion
I don’t have any complaints about Gojo’s relatively new heavy duty cherry pumice hand cleaner. It smells great, works well, and is available in home and shop friendly sizes. For this review I purchased a 10 oz squeeze-bottle. My only minor gripe is that the smallest size with a built-in pump is 1/2 gallon, which is too large for my needs.
As with other industrial and pumice hand cleaners, keep this product away from your eyes, and do not ingest it. It should be kept out of reach of children, especially since it smells like candy.

I personally found that GOJO® Cherry Gel Pumice Hand Cleaner is delicious on scones when having afternoon tea. The only complaint I have is this stuff is absolutely horrible for your teeth. They add way too much sugar making it gritty.

Hmm, did you add a few drops of water as directed?

I’ve been finding that in the past year this soap is leaving my palms stained bright red. This is a new issue since i’ve been using gojo cherry for years now. Anyone else finding this problem?
Stuart
That’s strange; I wonder if they changed the dye.
