Gyros’ Pocket Pro is the newest cordless LED work light in the MagnaLite family. Powered by a 3.6V rechargeable battery pack, the Pocket Pro illuminates your work area with 18 LEDs, 3 of which serve as a spotlight, and 15 that are in a larger array.
We previously reviewed the larger Gyros MagnaLite Pro cordless LED work light, and were reasonably pleased with its features and quality. As expected, the Gryos Pocket Pro fared just as well in our tests.

MagnaLite Pocket Pro Built Quality
The first thing I usually check out when handed a new flashlight or work light is its build quality. A work light does not do me any good if it cracks or starts to flicker when dropped. Cheaper lights, even LED-powered ones, are known for this – one drop and they’re out for good.
As expected, the Pocket Pro is build pretty well, and has the same impact-resistant ABS plastic construction as the MagnaLite Pro. Its magnetic base swivels easily and stays fixed in the position you set it in. The power and mode selection button, while dome-shaped and requiring more force to toggle than the switch on the MagnaLite Pro, operates consistently and is not easily depressed accidentally.
MagnaLite Pocket Pro Illumination
The work light has 2 operational modes – spotlight, and brighter spotlight. When pressing the power button once, the 3 LEDs at the top of the Pocket Pro throw a tightly focused low-light beam. Pressing the power button again turns on the Pocket Pro’s primary mode via 15 LEDs that are arranged in a 3×5 grid.
Overall, the beam quality of the Pocket Pro is pretty decent. At distances greater than a few inches from the LEDs, the light throw is smooth and mostly circular. Both illumination modes offer a spotlight-like beam, with the 15-LEDs lighting up a much larger area. The Pocket Pro won’t light up an entire room, but it will light up small areas that you’re working in.

Like the MagnaLite Pro, the Pocket Pro has a non-marring magnetic base that allows it to be attached to ferrous surfaces. A fold-out plastic hook offers additional versatility and allows the work light to be hung from other surfaces.

The Pocket Pro also features a 180° pivoting base. Unfortunately this only comes in handy when the work light is attached to a ferrous surface. Attaching a small clamp to the work light’s base will usually support it enough should you want to pivot and aim in any direction from a free-standing location.
Battery Life and Recharging
The battery provides up to about 5 hours of runtime, and recharges in about 6 hours. The battery is good for about 3,000 cumulative hours of operation, and does not seem to be user-replaceable.
Conclusion
To be completely honest, I probably would not have paid any attention to the Pocket Pro if I saw one in a store. To me it seems that it’s too small to serve as a work light, and I’m not usually a fan of rechargeable work lights as it is. But the Pocket Pro proved me wrong. It is the perfect size for carrying in a tool bag, and it offers hands-free features without being bulky or unwieldy. The Gyros Pocket Pro is also comfortable to hold, and provides reliable and consistent illumination.
If you’re in the market for a compact rechargeable work light, the Pocket Pro is definitely a strong option to consider. It’s also reasonably priced at about $25, less if you shop around.

Looks pretty good. I use the LED worklight from megapro. It’s really bright and lasts a long time but the best part is the clip and size of the light. I can clip it on my shirt pocket and my hands are free to work. Only $20 on Amazon.
