Harbor Freight has a new deal of the day for 12/10/23, where you can save 20% on ALL Icon hand tools.
The Harbor Freight Icon tools sale is available in-store and online. It doesn’t look like there are any notable exclusions, aside from not combining with other discounts or promotions.

The new coupon offer should work on a wide range of Icon tools and products, such as their locking flex head ratchet and bit set (which works well and is a great value), and new Icon folding knife.

It won’t work on existing deals, such as the already-discounted snap ring pliers set, but it doesn’t look like there are a lot of other active promos.

If there are any Icon tools on your shopping list, or you plan on hitting up your local HF store, keep in mind that the coupon is only valid today, 12/10/23.
The coupon code is 15929833.
I bought a couple of Icon tools so far (mostly for review or editorial purposes), and checked out others in stores. Harbor Freight has definitely stepped things up a notch or three.
Many Icon tools seem to be competitively priced for what they offer, but some are more expensive than I’d expect or prefer to see. The 20% coupon will prompt me to take a closer look at the current Icon hand tools lineup, and I might just visit my closest HF store today.
Are you buying anything during this promo?

Note: Online at least, it seems that the coupon only works on (1) eligible item per order.

That flex head ratcheting bit set is really good. I find it solves a lot of problems for bicycle work. The bits are quality and ive put slightly above moderate forces on the ratchet with no issues so far. I added a 2” bit holder to the case which increases the versatility for reaching recessed positions.
I read that the Icon set was speculated to be produced by the same Taiwanese OEM as the facom kit that it’s clearly modeled after.
I also bought the vim tools and usag version (same parent as facom) and can confirm the finish quality matches. The icon case is a little bulkier. This is a quality alternative to the wera bitcheck plus, minus the sockets.

Thanks for the quick overview, I’ve been meaning to grab this set for a while now.
Kenneth Kerns
I bought it and really like it
MoogleMan3
I grabbed one. I couldn’t resist at that price.
Stuart
I bought one too and like it – especially for the money.
I bought a couple of others, and am not convinced it’s worth spending more for higher tier brands.

I grabbed one. Went to HF yesterday on a whim and noticed the Icon bit sets were in stock. I’ve wanted it for a while so it took me about 30 seconds to jump in my truck when I saw this post.
Thanks for the heads up, Stuart!

Side note: The DEWALT 20v tire inflator is $87.20 at Amazon right now.

Robert
Comes up $96.15 now. Algorithms playing with us.
Stuart
I still see $87.20 – it’s through a 3rd party seller.

You know what pisses me off about this? It’s a ONE-day flash sale, but it only works on ONE item per visit per day. Typical HF fine print.
Stuart
That’s how it looks to be working online.
But the coupon clearly says “Save 20% on All ICON Hand Tools products purchased.” Go to your local HF store, and if it doesn’t work, politely ask for an override, politely ask if you can make multiple transactions, politely ask where it has the “one use only” clause, because it’s not on the coupon itself.
Steve L
Online the coupon is good for one item on one order. Start a second order and the code does not work.
Stuart
Hence the “go to your local HF store” part.
If there’s a problem with the online store’s programming for the coupon, there’s a near-zero chance they’ll notice and fix it on a Sunday.

I bought 2 ICON items in store this morning with coupon and it discounted both items the 20%

Use a different phone number for the 2nd transaction. As long as the transaction is not requiring an “inside Track” membership this will work, the 2nd and subsequent phone numbers will allow the transaction to work. It can be any phone number. I used a former work phone number once to get around the restriction. If the discount requires the membership, HF links the associated phone number to the daily limit.

I don’t have the budget, so can only dream, but I would get the tungsten molybdenum tap and die sets, both inch and metric.

I had been looking for a snap ring pliers set and had been tracking the price. The 8 piece icon set is regular $75 on sale for $60 and the 20% off coupon takes another $12 off. Solid deal at $48 for a nice set if you are in the market. I was surprised that it actually worked in store.

HF misses a big opportunity by not allowing online shopping and in-store pickup. They have this one-day sale, which I find out about at 2:50 est. My nearest HF is 25 miles away. It’s raining like stink and I’m not going out this PM. But I’d go tomorrow if I could order now and pick it up tomorrow. Instead, they want $7.00 shipping, eating up all but $1 of the savings on the desired flex head ratchet set. So – not buying. HF loses. I’ve had this happen before with them.

School me: Does a $50, 8 pc screwdriver set really perform any better than a $33, 15 pc Husky set? What is the sweet spot between performance and cost?
Joellikestools
No experience with the Icon. Ideally the 50$ set would work better.
The Husky ones are general purpose screwdrivers. I would expect to see
homeowners, maintenance, and non trade specific folks using these.
I can say the handles on the Husky’s wear out quickly when getting cleaned frequently. The magnetic tips wear off quickly. The square rod is occasionally hard to fit in places and les comfortable to grip when steadying it or trying to spin it. The fit of the slotted screwdrivers leaves a little something to be desired. I used some of these every day for work and did not care for them.
Pros : The price is low. Husky has a lifetime warranty.
They are easily available
The Icons are geared towards mechanics. Mechanics screwdrivers usually hold up better to cleaning. Some of the screwdrivers have a spot by the handle where a wrench can be used to apply more torque for tough fasteners. They have round shafts that are easier to get in tight spaces. I would hope the tips have better fit in screw heads. The magnet tips are hopefully higher quality.
However, for 54$ you can get a 12 piece Tekton screwdriver set that is made in America. No spot for wrenches though. This does appear to be a better value.
You can also find 5-6 piece Wera, Felo etc. for 50 and under.
To sum up If you don’t use them every day you’ll be happy with the Husky value. If you want a more professional grade plier there are ones with better value than the Icon.

The last two times I went to our Harbor Freight, the items they claimed online to have in-stock were not. The employees weren’t helpful when I inquired either.. “If it’s not on the floor, we don’t have it”.
You’re gonna have to do better than 20% off to get my interest. Especially when it’s 38 degrees outside, Harbor Freight is a 15 minute drive, I can’t rely on their website if the item is truly in-stock, and their employees are dicks.
Tractor Supply opened a location next door, they always have what I need and their employees are friendly. Coupon or not, I’ll give them my business.
TonyT
Depends on the store. At my local store, the employees searched the back to find an Apache case for me.
Jason
You can ask them for rain checks too.
Rich
There’s a zero chance I’ll bother.
Dan
They updated their website as I was able to purchase several items using the coupon discount. It was only discounting one item earlier today.

I went yesterday specifically looking for the new knife, but it hasn’t been in stock at my local HF almost since its release. Considered the pliers wrench, along with one or two other sets, but decided against it, sine I’ve already gotten myself enough for Christmas!
I’ve been eyeballing the Apache case so today might be the day…
