This heavy duty impact wrench delivers up to ~354 ft-lbs of tightening and loosening torque. It has a forward/reverse rocker switch, LED light, and battery fuel gauge.
While not the prettiest impact wrench out there (something that we talked about on the phone), it’s highly functional and capable. It won’t win any power contests against the latest and best cordless impact wrenches in the industry, but 354 ft-lbs (4250 in-lbs) is quite a lot of torque nonetheless, and the Hitachi kit comes in at a fraction of other brands’ bare tool prices.

For this price you’re much better off getting the Milwaukee M18 mid torque impact wrench. There’s a deal for slightly less than this right now. May only come with one battery but more torque and smaller profile are huge pluses. I’d buy it if I didn’t already have the Ryobi impact wrench.

Where’s the deal? I’m only seeing $199 for the bare tool, $299 for the 1-battery kit.
One benefit to the Hitachi is the dual rocker switch that some users might prefer.

It’s hideous! And huge.. And only 350 ft/lbs of torque. Lowes has a Craftsman thst does 350 ff/lbs and the ridgid does 450 ft/lbs. Get the Ridged combo with two 4.0ah batteries and get the impact for free.. Only $20 more and 3 tools instead of 1. Rocker switch is a nice function though.. Too bad its so damn ugly.. Did I mention its ugly?

The Hitachi DS14DFL is the 14.4V “Gold” version, which is actually irridescent multi-color in person – it was quite something to see at Lowe’s on the display when it first came out. I almost bought it just because it was so “Alien” looking.

ugly is not something I look at in tools. I even like the bright colors – so I can find the things.
But unless I just didn’t have any 18/20V platform already or I was already into hitachi I would get any of the other bare tools.
Someone mentioned the milwaukee – you can get the new, brushless midrange dewalt for 199 right now also. similar torque, better light, smaller, lighter, can be used in tighter places (brake or suspension removals).
If you just need the gobs of torque the big daddy is only 249 – again bare tool.
Now if you just don’t have batteries this is a pretty good deal.

I picked up the m18 FUEL high torque impact wrench for $169 back in August back when ToolNut was running a safe + free 5ah battery.
1400 ft lbs of breakaway torque is probably way more than I’ll ever need, but it’s good to know that I won’t ever be hurting for lack of power.

Pass. I owned a corded Dewalt that was roughly this size. It was useful for lug nuts and some suspension bolts, but that’s it, because it was too damn big.

This Hitachi tool design dates back a good number of years. Just look at the more recent Hitachi branded tools and you’ll see current and modern design.
Personally, I’ve been buying select Hitachi tools for the last two years, 4 cordless nailers, triple hammer, oscillating tool, hammer drill, extra batteries, all excellent tools, good prices, 3ah batteries are priced low.

For that price I would get the Ridgid deal for 200. Drill , impact driver and free bare impact for 200.
