Home Depot’s best Ryobi cordless power tool ended early, at least online.
With this deal, you purchase a Ryobi 18V starter kit with 2 batteries and a charger for $99, and choose a free tool from a small selection.
The deal was scheduled to last through the end of January, 2024.

Earlier today, I saw that the deal is marked as sold out online.
More specifically, I went to check which free tool options were still available, and the entire Ryobi 18V cordless starter kit product page was gone.

Removing the entire product page is not the way Home Depot typically responds to a product selling out online. Here’s the link so you can check for yourself – the Ryobi page has been completely erased!
Usually when a tool sells out online. Home Depot will still keep the page up to show in-store availability. That way, shoppers can still buy something for in-store pickup, or at least see which nearby store still has an item in stock and available for purchase.
They didn’t do that here.

I visited my local Home Depot store today, and they have displays full of Ryobi cordless power tools and accessories.

I wonder if Home Depot pulled the plug on the online deal and in-store inventory visibility to encourage shoppers to visit their local stores in person.

My store still has a bunch of the promo starter kits still on display.
So far, it seems that you can still get the deal in-store, even if it no longer exists on Home Depot’s website.
The next-best deal is still available online, where you buy a Ryobi 18V 2-tool combo kit for $199 and get two free tools.
Some of the better and higher valued free tool options are no longer available, but at this time there are still 7 options, 4 of which are HP series tools with brushless motors.

I’m really disappointed that I waited on this. I wanted the leaf blower to supplement my gas backpack blower. It sold out online and all the stores near me almost immediately. I kept checking and it never came back. I know I should have picked up the next most expensive tool and returned it which would have given me two batters for under $50.
Joshua D Mcbratnie
I work at the store level for home Depot and i can tell you at the store level they sold out within the first few days and we received about 500 of those starter kits it’s the best seller this year. I really doubt it was pulled for the foot traffic. It was probably pulled because it would say a store had some and they might not actually have that product. I have seen customers not happy when they have driven x amount of miles to get a tool that is not there.
Robert
Stuart, if HD pulled the deal from the website to encourage more foot traffic, then instead of the page error you saw, would it make more sense for HD to be say it was no longer available on-line, but see you local Home Depot store – they may still have the deal?
Stuart
These deals were only available in-store starting on Black Friday – https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/milwaukee-battery-packout-deal-bundles-home-depot-2023/%3C/a%3E and had “unavailable” messages until after around Cyber Monday.
It’s not regular practice for HD to entirely remove product pages while promotions are supposed to still be ongoing.
The kit isn’t just sold out online, it’s been dismantled.
Why do this when there’s still inventory that could be ordered online for in-store pickup or local delivery?
They have mechanisms in place to restrict if and how online purchases can be fulfilled.
Removing a product page seems like a strategic decision. I’m guessing as to why, but for all intents and purposes they pulled the plug on the online part of the deal.
Scott K
They may have made a mistake with stocking and found it easier to just end it? One of the stores I checked had a lot of the “free” tools locked in cages but managed to sell through all of the starter kits so they were directing customers to the website. They said they couldn’t process orders or mix between a web order and store order. Seems interesting to have so many more tools than starter kits,,.right?
Stuart
Variety is necessary.
Home Depot has plenty of experience with past promos to know where to start with respect to starter kit and bare tool ratios.
“Deal hacks” where part of a deal bundle is returned for a partial refund, tend to mess with the numbers, but I don’t think it’s a significant issue yet.
Steve K
It didn’t start on Black Friday. This is another example of a store advertising a “special price” that is actually a deal they have already been offering. I got the two batteries and charger for $99 along with the jigsaw for free on Monday, October 23rd. The total with tax was $106.43.
Stuart
The Milwaukee deals specifically referenced in the link were NOT available prior to Black Friday. They were doorbuster deals that weren’t revealed or available until 11/24.
The Ryobi deal was indeed available starting in the last week of October.
Steve
I did the same with the 6″ chainsaw. And when in the cart saw they actually assign different prices to the batteries and saw to tall $99. So I took the chance and bought it since the tool alone is still $150. Q week later I returned the batteries, unopened for $45
Iceclops
I still have a starter kit added to my cart. If I add one of the promotional tools to the cart with it, the price accurately reflects the deal. But like you, if I try to go to the product page it goes nowhere. Obviously, the coding for it is still there behind the scenes because it’s working accurately in my cart.
Anyway, I think it’s a direct response to so many people hacking the deal. They put this deal out, expecting to move equal units of tools + batteries and when people choose one or the other it leaves retailers with a bunch of extra inventory they can’t sell
Joseph Tieman
This deal started before Black Friday and people were buying multiple sets. Not surprised it sold out. They ran out of a similar Milwaukee deal too and stores weren’t able to get restocked.
Josh
The store I shop has had a sign up for a couple weeks saying “sold out in store, available online only”. I was going to buy a couple things but seems that I too have missed the bus.
Kameljoe21
I got one of them with the grinder. I was planning on ordering several more. I should have done so and missed out on several tools I needed. I seen the listing say sold out on line. My store did not have the deal. Even early on many tools were sold out.
Clientgraphics
This is great as it will save me from continuing to think I need more Ryobi tools or batteries when I really don’t. Sometime these promotions run so long or are constantly on the same holidays that the need to change something up to generate constant foot traffic and interest.
Quazi
Earlier, at the end of summer, HD was doing the Ridgid Max Output Battery Starter Kit with 2aH, 4aH Batts for $179 and came with a free tool of your choice. I didn’t bite as I felt like I didn’t need anything. A few days after the sale had ended, I was walking around my local HD and I saw they had a bunch of stock left over and were offering the same deal but for $129 for the kit and free tool. Needless to say I scooped up a few kits at that bargain, was able to get two tools on my wishlist and a gift for a friend. I was amazed at my luck.
Adam
Wonder if they are re-working it online, as there were tools included that aren’t in store. Such as the grease gun. Would think they could change it without removing, but maybe inventory is much lower on those.
Sign of people’s spending habits on gifts?
Stuart
Someone asked about the grease gun – it was supposed to be available earlier this month but the reader couldn’t find one anywhere online or in-store.
The free gift part could be updated without completely removing the product page.
Scott F
They pulled the grease gun off of the deal after the first week – it was available the first time I looked (first day of deal maybe), sold out the next day (knew I should have just bought it!), and then a week later they changed all of the tools included and grease gun was no longer an option. Nor was the leaf blower.
BayouMechanic
The ryobi 2 pack of 4a Batts without charger for $79 was still available ay my local store
The grease guns were restocked a week later but they did not want to honor the add /promo even though it was not expired yet until I got a US Based manager.

I think this may be a fluke. I’ve seen it before on the HD site. (I can’t remember on what it was but it was a similar BOGO deal…)
Friendly wager (lol) says this might be back in a couple days…..just my guess of course.
Those batteries are usually in the thousands in quantity….I’m sure they have a boatload of them somewhere hiding….will see!
Stuart
They didn’t just disappear the product page, they modified the promotional graphics with a new “sold out online” image. I didn’t make that.
Mark+S
I think I read your article too quickly last night, you are right (and I didn’t mean to imply you aren’t always awesome, btw!).
I didn’t realize the graphics were changed too. And just this morning the M18 5.0ah $199 deal is also “sold out online”. Seems strange to me nonetheless, but perhaps that’s their inflation answer. Or a bait and switch…who knows their reasoning. Maybe it is just a lot of people jumping on a deal. Just weird it’s so early in the season.
I’ve seen that Ryobi battery deal with a quantity of 7,000 plus available for shipping….maybe they sold that many, but I wonder. I also kind of imagine that amount may vary regionally/etc. Lots of questions here for sure!
Keep up the great site work!
Stuart
The Milwaukee deal is indeed also marked as sold out online. But, I checked last night and it’s still live online but with two differences.
First, it’s down to $179. Second, it’s only allowing orders for in-store pickup or local delivery.
The Dewalt deal, which usually sells out, still has more than 20,000 units available for delivery.
Matthew Hamilton
If you see a great deal jump on it. If you miss it, it’s nobody’s fault but your own. I grabbed a couple black Friday deals and am pleased. There’s always next year guys. They can’t run those deals until we want.
Nate
I saw some weirdness with this listing the other day, where the item title seemed to apply to something else, I forgot to grab a screenshot but it’s possible there was something actually wrong with it.
See if it comes back, I guess?
Joe A
I bought 4 batteries with 2 chargers, and got a free leaf blower and an angle grinder. $200 for all that was a killer deal.
jayne erin defranco
you did good joe. I waited too long now it’s gone.
Brian
They also pulled the product page for the 72″ husky pro toolbox deal that was posted last week
Stuart
Hmm. The pages were up yesterday with just the prices removed.
The entire line looks to be disappearing, with clearance pricing on what’s left. Which is a big problem because they advertised it all as part of a system.
I emailed Husky/Home Depot about this last night, but they didn’t provide any explanations or answers yet.
Robert
The pages were down for me at 8:53AM (I took a screenshot) yesterday. The pages wouldn’t show up in the search box on their website earlier this week. I’ve been keeping a close eye on it. This is very unfortunate, as I only ordered the chest and two top boxes when I took advantage of the BOGO deal. Now I can’t get the hutch or side lockers to allow me to even use the top boxes.
I called Home Depot yesterday morning and asked if the Pro Duty line was being discontinued but they weren’t prepared to answer that yet. Not a good look. So I can never add on to this box with matching items. And what happens if I need parts?
My box is supposed to be delivered today and I think I’m going to send it back on the truck or return it to a local store. I’ll get the Icon box instead; it seems nicer, seems to be supported more, has been around for a few years, has a better drawer layout for me, better power drawer, and better drawers in the side lockers. Just my $0.02.
Chris
This is concerning, I ordered a box and side locker hoping I’d be able to add the hutch later. I’m not sure if it’s a deal breaker or not, but now I’m worried about if anything comes in damaged. If there is no stock to replace it with, I’m either stuck with a damaged item or just get credit back?
Stuart
I don’t have answers yet – I’m still waiting on Home Depot and Husky.
If they were smart, they would have set inventory aside for replacing units damaged in transit.
I arranged two freight returns with Home Depot in the past two years – it’s easy as could be. I believe I rejected one outright due to damage, and for another order I sent it back due to damage and poor quality a few days later. For both the refunds were prompt and the return delivery pickup easy to arrange.
James+C
Early on, when looking at the free tool options on the website (like in the menu to pick it), they showed the new gen 2 brushless OMT. But I only ever saw it as sold out. I held out hoping it would come back. Then I noticed it missing from promo materials showing the options. Was it ever available?
I gave up for good when I found the m12 fuel OMT on Amazon for $115.
andrew holmes
My store sold out of them probably two weeks ago, I’m on the west coast so I’m not sure if different regions got different shipments.
Frank D
Not the first time this happens online, but it could be a fluke, again. HD is quite customer unfriendly with some of their tactics of not showing in store availability due to specials ( because, hey everybody has free time and free gas to drive out there, to not find what you are looking for ), showing inventory for products that is off by anywhere from one to twelve and more units, where they actually have none or simply can’t find it. I have gone to HD several times where they cannot find the in stock tool or part. Oh, and speaking of Ryobi, here they have ended the Ryobi tool days two – three days early in the spring, and said everything was gone … except I was there the night before and there were many dozen items left … Could not be found any more??? Taken out of inventory and/or trucked out? Or?
Chad
Not missing anything. They are regular batteries. The 199 kit gives you the 2.0 hp batteries which I love for the size on quick work vs lugging extra weight for no reason. The 199 kit gives you 4 brushless tools total which is a much better deal. I grabbed the jig saw and multi tool.
Toolbag
This comes as no surprise as they’ve been pulling tools for a few weeks now. For example the 1/2″ impact went out of stock then was removed entirely. Glad I bought it when I did.
AP
I ordered the M12 Rocket LED light kit and only received the light. I would have had to send the whole thing back to start the process all over again to get the light kit with the $80 battery. I have a lot of M12 batteries and I do not want to deal with Home Depot shipping or their customer service so I decided to just keep the light.
Jeremiah McKenna
While I don’t see that specific deal online, I do see countless other deals on Ryobi batteries and tools. Most have hundreds available online and then a number at my store.
Gabe
I was able to get a 2 great deals on Black Friday
It was a 18v kit with a drill, circular saw and flash light with 2 batteries and a charger for $99.
Also purchased a 18v blower with battery and charger for $69.
It was a 2 deals I could not pass up.
Rich
I ordered this in the first round but they never sent the free tool. Shipped me the batteries but then no free tool ever showed up.
Not the first time in the past 2 years HD has bunged an order(s). They have been going down hill in my (little) experience. Not a smooth operation, always fixing it after the fact and at the customers expense. They won’t accept a return on the battery pack/partial online order. I can’t ship it back, they force me into the store which, for me, is 1.5 hours one way.
HD is last restort for me, turns my stomach to have to look at them but will if I absolutely have to, as a last resort.
Don’t know who runs the joint now but it’s not what it used to be. They’re a bit of a dirty word here. Too any partial orders, ie, they ship the accessory but not the main item. Then I’m stuck with accessories and a long drive at my expense. Simpson pressure washer, they shipp the add-ons but cancelled the washer order. Customer left with bag. of dookie.
Rich
ps. I seem to enjoy the store when I’m there but honestly, it’s not that great either, but at least its there – that part is good.
AP
I’m in the same boat. Terrible ordering process. Get something but not everything. Have to jump through hoops to make it right and I’m also 1.5 hours away. Had 4 issues with them in the past. I’m extremely nervous when I order through them anymore.
RWA
I ordered an 18 volt chainsaw with the battery package as soon as the sale was announced. I had to make a correction for the store location I chose and I lost my order due to the short time lapse for the correction. I checked many stores within a hundred mile radius and all were out of this particular item. Very frustrating. I feel like HD did not do a good job planning for this sale
William
These sales are a mess. I went to the store looking for a 1 handed reciprocating saw for 119.00. They had (4) poor associate couldn’t find it and she checked 6 different locations. I got so pissed off that I went to the parking lot got online on my phone and got 2 batteries a charger AND my 1 hand reciprocating saw for $99 shipped to my house. They are literally loosing money by not making it convenient to shop in store.
Dale Prentice
I went to home Depot in Pulaski TN three times to get the 99 dollar tool deal. With no luck one day had batteries no leaf blower. Next day blower no batteries. Ordered on line received batt pack no blower. Home Depot said I had to buy in set. See home Depot later LOWS in Columbia will welcome your and my business .
Tim V
If you go to the pro desk, they can rain check one or the other as long as you pay in full on the spot. They call you when they get it in the store and set one aside for you. At least the pro desk at the Prescott Valley AZ store could, and did, 2 years ago when I wanted the inverter that wasn’t in stock when the battery deal was.
Cascunchi
Wonder if this has something to do with all the Ryobi 18 V tools showing up on Amazon priced way lower than om HD website. Bought a PBLID02B for 49.95 on Amazon where HD sells it 99.95 on sale, 119.95 regular. Think people are moving on the battery deal and then selling batteries and free tools on amazon. Impact driver was packaged in a brown cardboard box. Like the ones that come in the battery deal. Didi not have the reconditioned branding on it.
Kealii
HD ended another great deal prematurely earlier today. Item# RY40960, “40V HP Brushless 600 CFM 155 MPH Cordless Leaf Blower and Carbon Fiber String Trimmer with 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger” was selling locally and online for $199. According to customer service this sale was supposed to last through February ’24. Today it’s still on sale but the price jumped and is now $429 (regular price is $489).
Luckily a shipment came in yesterday and I was able to do a curbside pickup. Now it’s gone.
Stuart
I’ve seen similar happen before too, but not for a couple of years.
dave
I visited the local HD well before blk Fri, the tool dept person lamented that they went on sale in Oct and were sold out and would have none to sell on blk Fri, or even by Xmas. A check online showed virtually all stores we’re sold out but you could still order it online (though the grease gun shown in the promo pic couldn’t be selected as the free tool). Think it would be a waste of time trying to find any in store stock.
Jem
This happened a few weeks ago when I was wanting the small chainsaw, the next day they were back in stock. Maybe they only want to sell so many a day or week. Hope you get what you’re looking for.
Tim V
Just over 3 years ago, I got the compressor with a battery, charger, and brad nailer for $70.00 plus tax on Home Depot Ryobi blowout in-store. I remember the price because it just broke and I pulled the receipt to check if it was still under warranty. Checking to replace it, it’s now over $200, during Ryobi blowout, without brad nailer. I took it apart and turns out the circuit board is only in there for the circuit breaker and it burned up the first time it ever needed to break the circuit, it can easily be bypassed with a fuse and no functionality difference.

I do It every year, but messed up big time this year.
I always try to have $2000,3000 saved for black friday. The last 2 years, I’ve been so busy with jobs, I didn’t pay attention to what day it was. Didn’t have anything saved again. ..
I’m starting now, save for Christmas in July. Lol
Some of the deals around for black friday are insane. Start planning way ahead of time, don’t miss out.
I’m a Rigid Tool fanatic. It’s the only brand I haven’t had trouble with. I’ve pushed my Gen 3 hammer drill until it was too hot to hold, just kept going. I still have that same drill in my van today.
This year, I missed out on so much, I’m still kicking myself for it.
I found the 9pc Rigid brushless for $589. On sale for $699 now, from $1000..
I’m an avid walleye fisherman, and have wanted the Humminbird Helix 9 MSI for a long time. That’s never on sale. Not even $1 off, anywhere.
This year, they had it for $999, down from $1700.
On top of all that….
I have an older boat. 1981. It’s 18ft, built luie a tank, and only paid $900, boat motor, trailer. It gets me where I want to go, but, it’s not made for big waves, big water. It’s a little narrow, 50″ wide, compared to 86 wide, like they build now.
Still, no complaints. For what I have into it, I love the thing.
Just before black Friday, I was looking thru FB market place. Found a 1998, Lund Tyee. 21 1/2 ft.
Lund is like top of line, and this boat is made to handle big water.
It was an I/O, compared to an outboard, but still.
Had it for sale, $1500. I kept waiting, saying I’ll go see it next weekend. Guy dropped price to $800, and it sold in 2 days.
Now.
He had pulled the motor, rebuilt motor, never got boat back together.
I’m was a lift truck mechanic. I could have had that boat up and running for under $1000.
Had less than $2000 into whole thing.
I’ve told my friends for years….
I wish a “mechanics special ” would pop up, so I could get a bigger boat.
One finally did, and I didn’t have a penny saved.
I missed that one. And it’s still kills me.
That year, model boat right now, sells for $8000 to $12,000.
That was a one in a lifetime event, and I missed it, by waiting to long.
Lesson to be learned.
Always, Always. Have a few thousand dollars stashed away somewhere, when things like these pop up.
They only happen once in a lifetime.
