Home Depot has this Work Platform on Sale for $50

Gorilla Ladders Work Platform in Use

You have a work platform, right? If not, take a close look at this Gorilla Ladders Black Friday 2023 deal from Home Depot.

Work platforms are fairly straightforward. They’re like single level step stools, but much larger. When you’re done, the legs fold up and you can store it away for next time.

Gorilla Ladders Work Platform GLWP-47

This Gorilla Ladders aluminum work platform has a 47″ x 12″ step surface, 20″ step height, a handle built into the middle, and a 300 lb load capacity.

Work platforms are great for when you need a little bit of mobility but don’t want to have to constantly move a step stool or ladder around.

It’s on sale right now for $49.88 with free shipping.

The price isn’t as good as a few years ago, but the load capacity has been bumped up, and there’s value in being able to get this shipped to your door without any added fees.

I have also used work platforms to keep tools and supplies off the ground when working outside.

Mine don’t have the handle hole in the middle, which looks handy for one-handed readjustment.

Sale Price: $49.88

I can’t find any current models from reputable brands that sell for anywhere close to this price.

Ordered, plus a 3 step ladder. Got to do some painting, and this will work great.

These things are so handy. I picked one up many years ago for probably much less but it is worth every penny. So many situations where you want a sturdy platform to stand on. Even use it when washing the roof of my truck.

That handle in the middle is a gam changer. It seems silly but makes it about 10x easier to move around.

The center handle makes is so much better. I have one of these and a half dozen werner ones, and I reach for the gorilla one every time.

The Werners are relegated to ad hoc work tables and saw horses. Don’t get me wrong…they are nice, but when you are moving around, that center hand hole is a huge difference maker.

The center handle hole is a seemingly small thing that makes a huge difference IMO

My Werner has 2 handholds in the center – but the price is double what I paid for the last one I bought in 2009

I’ve had one of these gorilla platforms for about 4 years. Use it all the time. Mine doesn’t have a handhold though, and I can see the appeal. I bet it makes it easier to open/close the legs without inadvertently pinching your fingers.

I’m tempted, but it’s hard to justify buying a second one just for the handhold.

The one I have (love it, $20 at Costco a long time ago) has no handle accommodation. At all, and that bugs me. I usually want to move it when it’s folded up, and have nothing but sharp edges to grab. (Yes, I should figure out a solution.)

Does this thing also make it easy to move around (like a brief case) when it’s folded?

A lower capacity model (250 lbs) was on sale for that price for Black Friday in 2017. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/home-depot-black-friday-2017-tool-deals/%3C/a%3E .

This model was $25 in 2018.

No one is getting that price today without a time machine. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a Doorbuster type deal, but it seems highly unlikely.

I saw a bundle deal of 2 for $79 a week or so back somewhere in the back pages of the HD app – cheapest I’ve seen in a while, and even though I already have 2 (one the older model without the center hole, which is insanely useful) I almost bit…

Just checked and that deal is up to $95, so no longer much savings versus the single price.

These are very handy things to have. Mine is a 15 year old Werner AP-25 for which I paid $50 – and consider it one of the more useful things I ever bought. Along a similar vein – I also think that having an aluminum telescoping extension plank is worth considering – even though they (like everything else) have gotten a bit pricey. Mine (a Werner PA208) used to cost under $200 – but now seem to be more like$300.

These are great. 2 or 3 years ago these were $25. Last year I think they were $35 or $40. Very helpful to have around. The hand hold in the middle is helpful for repositioning as others have mentioned but also good for mounting in the wall.

I looked at the Gorilla last week. Decided against it as it has a pinch point when extending the legs. Even though the Werner was more expensive, I went with it.

The Werner benches with the extendable legs, despite being $160 a piece, are so worth it. I bought 2 so I can link them together and they paid for themselves first job. I use them as a miter saw platform as well, so it has multiple uses.

I bought one of these two years ago on a deal you posted – don’t remember how much it was at the time, but $50 feels like a good deal.

The center handle is awesome, makes moving the platform one handed super easy. However, the hinges on my platform are really tight and it makes the legs hard to fold.

We have 4 of these. Great for long runs of crown, ripping sheet goods, etc. Endless uses and stack flat minimizing space loss in the truck. Center handle is as helpful as everyone above says. Everybody should have at least one.

As a tall guy, I own two of these – one I cut the legs down to about a 11” working height – perfect for cutting in ceilings (painting) in a standard height home.

Was able to cut just below the braces and properly re-rivet the entire affair, so no effect on the stability or weight rating.

I went with the Werner Pro because most rooms are longer than 4ft wide (reach of 6′) and the Pro models can connect to a longer platform.
There is a Gorilla 51model that can take up to 375lbs (I’m a touch at 200lb so no issue on any of these).

I have 2 of these for over a year now, use them ALL the time. My work buddy has the Werner’s. Those are too heavy but work well for a bench/horse setup. Mine do have a little wobble in locked position but have been a great purchase.

These are great even if they’re smaller and lack some features compared to some others. For one, it’s very, very light. For another, it folds completely flat, about 2 1/2″ thick. Some of the others have the folded legs sticking up a few inches underneath.

How does all the plastic hold up? I have a Werner that’s ~$90, but is all aluminum except for the feet.

The trim pieces at the ends seem like they’d be a bag snag/cut hazard if the black plastic starts to crack. Same with the plastic venter handle.

I like the price point…can almosy get two for the price of the Werner. But, since mine are outdoors most of the time, durability is important.

I’ve since picked up the Werner adjustable height platform – I think its MILES better…

They do flex more than a Werner version, but they do hold up well. If I had the foresight, I would have bought 3 more at $23 in 2019 or 2020.

This also makes a great work platform. I use it as a ‘lift’ for power wheels when I’m working on them. It’s just skinny enough that the wheels can still spin freely while sitting on this.

Got mine on clearance at Lowes a while back. It’s probably being borrowed half the year, people use it for everything.

I have two – these are fabulous and at this price worth grabbing one or two. There’s no shortage of places I use these even though I’m 6’ 5”. Example: indispensable for cleaning, polishing and waxing the roof of many vehicles.

3 years ago I bought two for $20. A Black Friday sale. I know about inflation but for something to be 150% times more than originally Black Friday from a couple years ago is ridiculous. I’m trying to push off it’s a great Black Friday sale ….nope !

That was 6 years ago and a different model with lower capacity.

      At the least:

      It’s a different model.
      Material costs went up.
      Freight/shipping costs went up.

Since time machines don’t exist, can you recommend a different name-brand model with a similar size and the same or better weight capacity for less money right now?
