As far as offset screwdrivers go, this Husky combination offset screwdriver design is a little crude, yet effective. Truth be told, I would much prefer to use a bit ratchet, like the Beta set we recently reviewed, than an offset screwdriver, but you can’t beat the Husky’s simplicity.

Offset screwdrivers are useful when dealing with hard-to-reach or obstructed fasteners in tight work areas. The advantage of this particular model is its robust handle and 4-in-1 space-saving design.
The bits are non-removable and non-adjustable, but low-profile fastener access should not be any more of a potential issue than with other one-piece offset screwdriver designs.
There are four bit tips – Phillips #1 and #2, and slotted 3/16″ and 9/32″. I was actually a bit surprised to find that the slotted bit ends are hollow-ground, a feature you don’t typically find on inexpensive bits or screwdrivers.
The driver is ~1/2″ wide and 5-1/4″ long. My only complaint is that heavy duty steel handle is a bit weighty.
Overall, it’s not bad for $7, especially given that it’s made in the USA.

got the same one a couple years ago , I use it mostly for door handle/locksets, it gets the job done well enough, but if I was installing new handles & locks all day I would definitely get a ratcheting version.

I have one that looks identical to that one, in a Craftsman brand. Same hollow ground flat blades, and USA made. My biggest gripe on this style of driver is that they are designed for hard to get at fasteners, but the flat bladed ones, at least, require a full half turn, to use.

For a really neat ratcheting bit driver set, check out the Wadsworth Mini Ratchet Set:

It’s probably my favorite compact tool set and is excellently designed and crafted. Made in the USA too.

A good compromise between one of these and a bit ratchet is something like a Chapman Midget Ratchet (I think I may have mentioned it during the other bit ratchet review). It has changeable bits (including a 1/4″ square drive adapter) but it about the size of a normal offset screwdriver.

Something nice to have around just in case you need it. For that price you can buy it and keep it around even if you only use it once. I have some older Craftsman and SK that only have 2 tips. I think the 2 tip design would be stronger but also a little larger.
