Home Depot has an incredible deal on their Husky Professional mobile workbench tool chest right now.
The savings are so good that I’m almost convinced that someone at Home Depot made a mistake!
As part of their Black Friday 2023 tool deals of the day, Home Depot slashed the price of these Husky Pro 72″ 20-drawer roller cabinets by 50%.
These Husky tool boxes are regularly $3498, but today only they’re $1747 each. That’s just incredible.

I reviewed the red cabinet a few months ago and recently donated it locally. That was one of the most painful tool sample donations I ever had to make – the cabinet was spectacular and I truly miss having it in my workshop.
The Pro roller cabinet features 20 drawers, each with 220 lb load capacity, or up to 400 lbs for the drawers with doubled-up ball bearing slides.
The construction is robust, and the entire cabinet is supported on 4 swivel casters with built-in shock-absorbers.

These 72″ mobile workbenches are designed to be at the center of an entire storage system.

You can add side lockers, a top hutch, and also top cabinets.

Half off the price of the cabinets is a very welcome deal, but that’s not all!

The 50% discount is COMBINED with a different promotion that Home Depot has been running recently, where you buy the bottom cabinet and get a free attachment.

Personally, I’d pick the top hutch as the free gift selection, but you can choose a side locker instead.
So that’s $1747 for the tool cabinet, which regularly retails for $3498, AND a top hutch, which retails separately for $1548, or a side locker that retails for $1248.

Home Depot sells a couple of different Pro tool box bundles, with the ones including a bottom cabinet and top hutch retailing for $5048, and with a side locker for $4748.
This means that you’re getting a $5048 or $4748 combo package for just $1747 with free shipping.
A $5048 tool box and hutch bundle for $3498 was a good deal when the “buy a cabinet get a free top hutch or other attachment gift” deal popped up in August.
But to slap a 50% discount on top of that? The 72″ tool cabinet plus a top hutch or side locker for $1747 is a phenomenal bargain.
The deals end at 3am ET 11/25/23 unless limited supplies sell out sooner.
It looks like these aren’t shipping for free, but the freight fees are small compared by the massive savings. You can also opt to have the Husky tool boxes shipped to your local Home Depot store for free pickup. If you do that, ensure you can handle the weight – these are far sturdier and heavier than consumer storage products.

I went to go buy it and the black 72″ work hutch is sold out. I wish I could still order it and they can just ship it when it gets back in stock. I’m always confused by shutting orders down.
James
Says 90 available for pickup in Massena, NY for me. And 90 available to ship. 16 gauge.
I didn’t even know I needed this until this post. Debating driving across the border to pickup and paying Canadian duty…..
Chris I
I bought two cabinets and just did the red work hutch. This is such a fantastic deal it’s not even funny. The box alone is half off, let alone the free piece. Couldn’t figure out how to do more than 1qty and keep the deal, so I just did two separate orders shipped to two different stores a few miles apart.
My wife is gonna kill me =X
William
You could order it at your Home Depot the day of the sale even if it isn’t in stock at the service desk and they will ship one from another store to your store for you to pick up or you can buy it and have them ship to your house from another store that has it in stock as well
Chris I
Was this a completely unknown sale offer until just this morning? I don’t recall seeing it advertised literally anywhere. I would have been ALL….OVER….THIS in all black.
I might just order red and wrap it in vinyl….
Stuart
To my knowledge this is a Black Friday deal of the day Doorbuster type of deal.
The most discount I typically see is $500, bringing it down to $2998 for a deal of the day or similar. A $1750 discount and free attachment seems almost impossible.
Chris I
Like. Like. Like. Like.
Such a great example of how when you post something we gotta know about it RIGHT AWAY!! 😀👍💪
Stuart
All of todays deals were included in the 11am automatic updates email newsletter.
Chance
Hutch’s sold out.
Stuart
Thanks! That’s unfortunate.
It might come back in stock, but if not, the 50% off discount and free side locker option is still a great value.
Chris I
Not sure how the hutches can be sold out while there’s like 90 boxes still. Weird. I would have got a side cab but it’s like 3″ too wide for my garage space.
Robert
I noticed the limit was 5, so perhaps gambling resellers bought a bunch. Or may a legit production business snapped them up, maybe had a hint from a Home Depot pro-desk employee ahead of time.
Stuart
Nobody at retail stores would know about HD corporate’s online-only deals of the day. These were never sold at stores, only online. I’d be surprised if any pro desk associates even knew these existed.
Chris I
I know, I know. 😉
But BF deals require me to start shopping at like 5am here on the left coast! =]
Jared
That’s insane!
Bren
This is the tool box bargain I’ve been waiting on for several years. I live on very rural North Dakota and the closest Home Depot is 4 hours away in Minot; shipping to my house is only $149! I’m tickled pink; thanks for the heads up, Stu!
Stuart
Glad to help!
It’s an amazing tool box – I really miss my test sample.
This is not something I would want to pick up myself. It also won’t easily fit in a pickup – you need a trailer or box truck with lift gate, plus experience in maneuvering something this size and weight.
atnfromatl
I just placed an order for the red one with the hutch.
I was seriously considering the 56″ Icon scratch & dent for about the same price.
The toolbox is bigger than I have the space for. But I really like the color scheme and drawer layout. Also, the stainless top and light are included in this setup. They are additional with the Icon.
So stoked
Chris I
I’m curious how you like that color combo, it certainly caught my eye. I just learned about that HF S&D site the other day.
I’m now keen to know if I can get an Icon 22″ end cabinet and rig it up somehow to this Husky Pro box.
James
I bought the whole set up. Main box, side cabinets and top boxes. Thats an incredible deal. Thanks Stuart !!!
Stuart
Glad to help!
I’m strongly debating getting a replacement for the test sample I gave away, and am hoping that they sell out to make the decision easier.
I still feel it has got to be a mistake, and that someone at Home Depot meant to switch the promotions over but accidently left them both active at the same time.
garrett
Wahoo! Their site was very slow bit I was finally able to get the black 72 in with the smaller hutch. THANK YOU!!!
Stuart
The smaller one isn’t exactly a hutch, it’s a top cabinet meant to go above a hutch. I suppose it can be used above the workbench, but you’d need a riser to support it.
There is also a two-pack of top cabinets meant to span two lockers and a hutch in between.
Robbie
Just grabbed a black chest and red side cabinet. Thanks for the tip, so cheap I don’t even care about the color mismatch– maybe they’ll let me exchange later or I’ll wrap the side cabinet in vinyl, doesn’t really matter, the pro grade is awesome!
Chris I
Anyone realize that the top lockers are a TWO-PACK?!?!
Stuart
It seems you missed my comment from 2 hours ago.

The descriptions in the freebie selection are very clear:
Husky 63.5 in. W Professional Duty Workbench Top Locker in Black (2-Pack)
Husky 72 in. W Professional Duty Tool Workbench Top Locker in Black
The top locker goes on top of the hutch. The dimensions are also clear. The 63.5″ top lockers aren’t designed for use over the workbench or hutch, they’re intended for spanning both lockers and the top hutch.
At this point, most of the options are sold out. I think the best option would be to get the cabinet at half off and figure out a way to use the 72″ top locker.
Chris I
Buying a 72″ box and getting two free top lockers seems pointless. To use them, you’d need to buy a hutch and TWO side lockers still. A weird freebie selection.
Stuart
If it weren’t an option, I’m sure someone would complain about that too.

For those that have not figured it out:
When you purchase bundle deals at Home Depot like the Husky Professional Duty Workbench that includes something free, the free items are not really free. When you go to the cart, the price will be split amongst the bundle items. What this means is that you could technically return what you don’t want. For example, I purchased the black workbench with the red top lockers. I chose the red top lockers because they are still showing as full price whereas the black ones are 50% off. Price matters because the higher priced the “free” item is the better your return is when you return the “free” item. So, for me, I put the black workbench and red top lockers in the cart. The workbench comes out to $955.25 and the red top lockers are $791.75. If I return the red top lockers for a refund of $791.75, the purchase price of the workbench becomes $955.25. That is a savings of $2,542.75 on the workbench. 72% off!
Adam
That’s what I did. I cancelled the toppers as I rather not waste their labor when that is the intention, especially as large of an item it is.
Had they had the matching hutch, I likely would have kept it, but I took looking for the best price out the door on the bottom.
Hunter
How did you handle that cancellation? Phone call or chat IM? I planned to originally return the toppers but I have a shop full of the red 48” Husky shop cabinets and am contemplating putting the toppers on top of those cabinets. The toppers being 20” tall make them pretty useful and like that the doors have struts to assist opening. So many decisions to make.
Adam
Neither, as it can be done on your own if look at the order after placing. Cancellations can be done within 45 minutes of placing an order. Occasionally it’s less than 45 minutes, but that is what HD site says.
apologies, i crashed right after buying/posting
Wayne Costanza
Anybody receive there’s yet?
Chris I
Mine are all sitting at the two stores. Going tomorrow to inspect for any damage, then renting lift gate truck on Wed if all good. You?
Hunter
My top lockers are ready for pickup but my workbench has been placed on backorder and the product page is no longer available. I assume the 50% sale + free add on was more like an inventory clearance sale. Pretty sure the Professional Duty line of workbenches, hutches and lockers are being discontinued. I was told that my order would be cancelled December 27th if the workbench did not come back in stock. Before the product page was taken down, I was told that the workbenches go quickly once in stock and that they should be back in stock soon. I don’t think that customer service agent really knew what they were talking about and was just trying to conclude the interaction. Kind of bummed out about it as I am a full time mobile mechanic and the workbench was going to support my tool addiction quite well.
Chris I
Why would HD discontinue the Pro Duty line if the boxes sell out as soon as they come in stock?
I would be totally irked if HD did that to my order. What on earth do you need lockers for without a workbench?!?
Hunter
That is what I was told but I don’t necessarily believe that they sell out that quick. I think the customer service agent didn’t really know what to tell me about my order being backordered so they said something to get me off of it. I wouldn’t think anything about the backorder if the product pages weren’t missing. Because they are missing, I assume the Pro Duty line is being discontinued. I have not chatted with HD again to confirm that. I just know from previous experience that when the product page is gone, usually the product is too.
As far as the top lockers go. I originally intended on returning them to make my workbench only cost $955. Now that my workbench is more than likely not coming, I will probably keep the lockers. I own 4 of the 48” wide Husky shop cabinets with 48” stainless steel workbench’s mounted between them. I will put the top lockers on top of the shop cabinets to have overhead storage. I also have Husky pallet racks that I could put the lockers on as well. It’s always nice to have lockable storage.
JayW
because they aren’t profitable at clearance pricing and they probably didn’t sell well at full retail either. They’re deleting the entire listings for each component that sells out so that’s pretty much a guarantee they’re being discontinued once the inventory is all cleared out. Only thing left is the top lockers and those will have to go on some serious discounts to move by themselves. If they were only out of stock the listing would still be up and it would indicate as such.
I can see why they’d be discontinued too because $3500 full retail price wasn’t competitive enough vs HF Icon also at full retail, and discounts at HF were usually easier and more consistent to get over the years. The Icon 73″ w/ a stainless topper at full retail has been $3300 the past ~6-7 months. And you got free delivery. Most Icon accessories were around the same prices, sometimes cheaper and better built. More color selections too, though 4 colors definitely isn’t anything amazing.
The other issue with Husky Pro is that they weren’t putting these on display in many(any?) stores. I never saw one at any of my stores and I never saw any social media people showing them off in-store either. So nobody really ever knew about them or could even see them in person. I imagine that’s another big reason why they weren’t selling. If Icon were out of the picture and I had to choose between 2 boxes I couldn’t even “try” before buying then I’d be looking at a Toolvault before the Husky Pros.
I paid $850 for the 72″ Husky Pro base and returned the side locker because the build quality looked eh and it wasn’t a color match. For $750 I’ll just buy a scratch and dent Icon locker for my 73 at some point. Now of course at clearance pricing the roll cab is a steal, but at full retail I definitely see how this system just didn’t measure up to the better Icon and other competing cabinets. If you really really like soft close drawers, I guess. I don’t, but that’s about the only thing this system really had over Icon.
Stuart
I’ve been watching the price since the start of the year, and in doing so I also took note of the inventory levels.
From what I could tell, these did not sell very well.
The workbench I tested and ultimately donated was excellent. But it might not have been a perfect fit for Husky or Home Depot.
Even if Home Depot stores had the floor space, these were never available in the numbers needed for that.
BC1984
So I point blank asked if they were discontinued since I still have a locker arriving even though my box was destroyed in transit. This is the (non)response I got:
Hi Brandon,
Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, it appears that the toolbox is no longer available. This often happens when the manufacturer upgrades/changes the model # on a product. The locker has a 90 day return policy should you choose to return it. We do have an updated tool chests page https://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools-Tool-Storage-Tool-Chests/Husky/N-5yc1vZc2gkZrd . I hope this helps and answers your questions. We appreciate your business with The Home Depot.
Stuart
Customer service is not going to know.
Hunter
Home Depot Canada still shows them in stock and they can be placed in the cart. Home Depot does have an international shipping program but I believe it is only for exportation out of the United States. Importing from Canada is most likely a no go according to Home Depot Canadas website. I have not contacted customer service yet regarding import from Canada but since they are still available up North, I am hopeful that backorders will be fulfilled at some point in the future. I suggest that anyone awaiting fulfillment get with customer service to have a note put on the order for a price match down the road. I have been lead to believe that I can get a price match on a replacement workbench if they are going to replace the product line or if the workbenches come back in stock at a later date. The customer service rep I spoke to made it sound like a price match would be possible even after the order is cancelled automatically on December 27th. If importing from Canada is an option, I know it will cost import fees plus shipping fees. I still see it as a deal if the fees aren’t outrageous.
Chris I
Waiting for me at the stores. Inspecting today. You?
I bought two boxes and two hutches. I’ll likely only keep one set though if anyone near NorCal missed out on the deal and is interested in it (pending quality inspection today obviously). Haven’t convinced myself what my plan is if one or both are damaged. They showed up 12/1 when both HD emails and tracking told me 12/9, so that is frustrating and causing me to scramble a bit now with inspecting and renting lift gate truck.
Hunter
I wonder if you decided to not keep one set and returned to HD if it could be arranged to be sent to Texas to fulfill my backorder? Though, I may not be the first in line as far as backorders go. I’m sure other people probably got put on backorder as well. It’s a shame that HD did that when 27 workbench’s were in stock when I ordered.
Chris I
There’s no way a HD store would ship it over to TX. If I did return a set, they’d throw it out on the floor I’m sure for what I paid and sell it same day I’m pretty sure. My inspection today turned out good, they all looked good, no giant forklift holes like Stuart had. Then they told me they’d assemble the hutch and box for free, so I took them up on that offer. I wonder if they prioritized orders that went to a store for pick-up versus home delivery….
Hunter
That was my thoughts but I do work with vendors that would do something like that to fulfill a backorder. Just depends on how their logistics system works. I agree that it would most likely be put on the floor for quick sale.
BC1984
Mine was apparently destroyed in shipping and they cancelled the order. The person that emailed me said they would honor the price when they came back in stock. We’ll see…..
Chris I
Frustrating. Shipped to store or home? What was your freebie item? Was that successful?
BC1984
It was shipped to the store. I opted for the side locker freebie and it doesn’t show cancelled so I may still pick it up if I’m able.
Hunter
That would be nice if they honor the price. I was hoping to get that response when I contact them again regarding my backorder. I have thought about requesting a lesser quality workbench as a workaround but really wanted the Pro Duty bench. I hope they come back in stock or are replaced with another line of Pro Duty cabinets.
BC1984
I had the same thoughts on subbing something else but I have several large boxes already so the only draw is the pro lines heavier duty components. Hopefully they didn’t discontinue the line….
Hunter
Went ahead and picked up my top lockers this evening. Nothing damaged and very happy with them. They will fit perfect on my Husky pallet racks to provide some overhead lockable storage. They claim to be 150lbs each but the packaging said 370lbs and there definitely wasn’t 70lbs in packaging. The workbench is supposed to be 800lbs but I imagine it is much heavier. Definitely way better quality than my 65th anniversary Snap-On cabinet.
Chris I
The workbench boxes today said 865# GW on the outside and it was palleted/boxed really well. My driveway has a 5deg incline so I’ll have to muscle it up to the garage with the hutch installed too.
Glad that the lockers worked out at least still and you got a good deal for them.
Hunter
Oh, how I would love to be in your predicament, lol. I’ll be happy with what I got so far and hope for the best on the workbench. Good luck on getting that massive beast to your garage. I’m sure it will look awesome and be even better when it is loaded up.
Bubb Rubb
Does anyone know where to get more of the casters that are supplied with these cabinets? I just got mine set up and I decided that the side cabinet would be better as a standalone unit, but I need 2 more casters for it.
Stuart
Contact Husky support via the numbers in your user manual – they might be able sell you 2 more casters. Side lockers generally aren’t recommended for free standing use due to being a tipover hazard.
MM
If Husky can’t help you directly like Stuart suggested you can try and find a match based on taking measurements of one of your existing casters. Husky probably used an off-the-shelf size, it’s just a matter of figuring out which one. Mcmaster-Carr has a fantastic selection to check.
Chris I
Hah! Are you the same guy who asked this question on the Pro Duty’s product page Q&A section that we can’t see anymore?
eBay item 285142948377? Any casters could work though if you know the bolt pattern.
Stuart is right. That’s a really really dangerous decision. You have me curious why it’s better as a standalone unit.
