I can’t be certain, but I would swear that Husky comes out with a couple of new tool storage items every holiday season. It seems that this year is no different. I’ll be writing about some of the new Husky tool storage products I caught a glimpse of, but one stood out a little stronger than the rest – this new stackable nail caddy.
The new Husky Nail Caddy appears to be a bulk parts organizer for storing boxes of nails or screws. It looks to be compartmentalized, and perhaps customizable. I wish I could tell for sure, but these haven’t appeared at my local Home Depot yet.

There are clear lids for each compartment and a fixed top handle, both convenient features.
Oh, and the Husky Nail Caddy is also stackable, thanks to its side spring-action latches.
In Home Depot’s product image, the bottom organizer looks to be filled with hand tools, which doesn’t ring true to the nail caddy product name. That’s a good thing, these things wouldn’t be very versatile, in my opinion, if all they could hold were boxes of nails.
But wait – how do you remove the clear lids?

Ah, you don’t! There’s another version of the caddy – an unlidded stacking caddy 2-pack, which comes with removable dividers and no lid. So it seems that, in the Home Depot product image, there’s a Husky Nail Caddy on top, and an unlidded 6-compartment caddy on the bottom.
There looks to be a recess for the handle at the bottom of each Husky caddy, since the handles are fixed in position. And so do you even need to remove the clear lids of the Husky Nail Caddy to stack two of those together? I thought you did, but I’ve since changed my mind.
How did these things come out without my ever knowing?! There are apparently 7 of the 2-pack caddy towers in stock at my local Home Depot, but I scoured the tool box aisle several times and couldn’t find the Nail Caddy, let alone these. Oh well.
The Nail Caddy is $10, and the 2-pack of 6-compartment caddies is $15.
You can order both online for in-store pickup, and the 2-pack of caddies can be ordered for home delivery as well.
Apparently my store has 15 of the Nail Caddies in stock, yet I couldn’t find them anywhere and couldn’t wait the 10-15 minutes it usually takes an associate to track down tools that aren’t on the sales floor yet.

Haha Home Depot inventory system… constantly filled with the ghost of out-of-stock items that have walked away somehow leaving a couple on the inventory.
I arrived earlier this year with a rented 12′ truck to pick up over $1000 in steel framing members, drywall, and other large construction supplies that i had purchased online days before to be sure they’d be ready when I rented the truck and hired a helper. I’d received the alert that all were ready for pick-up…
Their actual stock on the tracks and studs was two orders of magnitude off from what their system said!
Fortunately the manager was willing to deliver it from a store in a different city within a couple days, but the magnitude of the inventory error still amazes me.

I saw the nail caddy recently at one of my local stores. It had a label for “HD Inventor product winner” or something like that, looked like a pic of a Home Depot employee on there too. Im guessing its some program HD ran for new ideas.
I like the idea but Im not sure its something Ill use. Takes up a lot more space than just stacking the boxes of nails. The non-nail-caddy design looks a bit more useful but I prefer to have covers over my stuff so workshop and general dust dont get in.

I saw it in the store. The dimensions are well thought out. I love the part where it’s designed around being able to fit boxes of nails/screws. It’s a good idea, but it’s very cheaply made. I feel like if I bought one, some piece of it would break very soon into it’s use.

The nail caddy is the same as the stacking caddy. The lidded compartments are an insert. And no, you cannot stack another caddy on the top, but it will attach to other standard stacking caddies from the bottom… I purchased 4 from my local HD and the employee I spoke with scanned them and said they were going to be on clearance, with no further stock being on hand in the future. (we’ll see) The nail caddy came as a 2-pack with a standard caddy being attached to the bottom.

Only the top unit comes with dividers – the bottom unit does not come with dividers (the store rep & myself took apart several units to check), and per HD, additional dividers are not available.

I’m beginning to get a little turned off by these products. Why not give users dividers for both caddies, so that they have the choice whether to use them or not?

Took at look at one of these in store yesterday and I agree with one of the previous posters – it feels cheap. The plastic is crystal clear (nice) but that usually means its also pretty hard and feels brittle (not nice). If I tried to flex it I bet it would crack.
Contrasted against the plastic covers on the Milwaukee and DeWalt storage boxes, not quite as crystal clear but it feels like you could bend it in half and it wouldnt break.
They also seem to take up a lot of room….I know its that way to put the nail boxes in vertically, but between the height of the storage portion plus the height of handle, they would be pretty tough to store, say, in a cabinet or even under a bench because youd have to take both out just to lift one off the bottom.
