Irwin? Thanks, I’ll pass.
Stan
Agreed.
Stuart
Stan, please try to stay on topic, too many people have been complaining about your off-topic comments.
Stuart
Hang Fire, try the compound leverage cutters, they’re seriously awesome. All of their NWS-made pliers are great, but only the cutters are eligible for this promo.

I like the look of the coarse cut saw. It looks like it would be a good “beater” saw for outdoor building projects.

Irwin was originally known for their auger bits which competed with Russel Jennings – offering a different design that was much better for rough work (e.g. boring telephone poles). At some time they became part of the of Newell-Rubbermaid’s American Tool lineup – that includes (or acquired) brands like Chesco, Hanson-Hanson/Whitney, Marples, QuickGrip, Record, and ViseGrip. Newell-Rubbermaid also owns a batch of office supply brands, and painting sundry brands like Baker and ShurLine. From comments on ToolGuyd – it’s clear that many folks are disquieted by Irwin’s moving of ViseGrip production from Nebraska to China. I suspect that folks who remember UK-made Marples and Record tools might be equally peeved about these brands being slapped on Asian-made products. The good news – seems to be that Irwin is been giving the high quality NWS-made pliers a broader market.

The prices have gone up. Some of these can be had cheaper on ebay even after the amazon discount.
