This is not a drill (they’re pliers – ha) – KC Tool has Knipex Pliers Wrenches on sale. All of them.

The Knipex Pliers Wrench is one of my favorite and most-used hand tools. It took a while for me to save up for my first one, and I have had zero regrets since then.

In my opinion, the 7-1/4″ size (180mm) is a great place to start. I also have a 10″ Pliers Wrench, and a couple in smaller sizes.
Knipex Pliers Wrenches work via a compound leverage mechanism, and their jaws remain parallel throughout their opening.
The tool can be used to turn hex-shaped fasteners, and I also use mine for all sorts of other operations.
The jaws are smooth, but extremely grippy due to the compound leverage and high clamping pressure they can exert.
I checked a couple of models and found the prices to be lower and quite good compared to other retailers. You’ll want to price-check specific models yourself, just to be sure.
KC Tool has free shipping on $75+ orders. If you’re sure what else to buy to get you over the threshold, maybe pick up a Halder non-marring hammer or dead-blow, a Wera screwdriver set, NWS pliers, or something from Felo.

If you’re already got a couple of full-size Pliers Wrench, consider the Knipex XS. I like this one. I like all of Knipex’s mini Pliers Wrenches, but if I had to pick just one this might be it.

It was nearly 23 years ago that we bought our first few pairs (180 and 250mm) of these to try out in our plumbing business. We passed them around and soon everyone wanted them to replace Channellock 415’s and often adjustable wrenches as well. This was my intro to the Knipex brand.
Brian
I’ve been waiting for a sale to pick up some more Knipex. Already had the 7 1/4″, just grabbed the 10″ and XS. Doing the people’s work, Stuart. Thank you!
Stuart
Glad to help, thank you!
I was debating whether to post about this promo, but realized I would absolutely be buying one or two if I didn’t already have all I needed.
Brian
I’ve been periodically checking KC Tool looking for a Knipex sale and would’ve VERY disappointed if I missed this one day sale. So you really saved me! (“saved” me into spending nearly $100 🙃)
MM
If you’re watching for Knipex sales pay attention to Acme’s “scary good deals” tomorrow 10/25. They will have some kind of Knipex special though we don’t know exactly what yet. Currently their promo picture shows 3 different sizes of Cobras so we can assume the deal will apply to Cobras somehow; but whether it’s just that set of Cobras on special, if it’s a discount on everything Knipex, or somewhere in the middle, we don’t know yet.
Gary
… What or who is “Acme”?
Stuart
Acme Tools. They’ve been running deals this week, with a Knipex teaser for tomorrow (10/25).
fred
Speaking about teasers for 10/25 – Lee Valley says that they will be doing a Veritas “seconds” sale starting at 12-noon EDT.

Pliers wrenches are awesome, I don’t think you can go wrong with any size really, though I personally don’t care for the XS. The next size up, 125mm or 5″, is much more capable while still being very pocket friendly IMHO.
Blocky
Agreed. The 5” is just as slim and very tough. I’ve bent many 3/16” steel brackets with it and snapped a few. I find that I get better control vs the xs because I can get more fingers on the grip, and it is still a drastic weight savings over the 6” and 7”. The 5” almost disappears into pockets without being aggravating to retrieve.
Blocky
3/32” actually… 3/16” would be crazy. I lack the hand strength.
Kevin PULVER
I agree. 5″ and 10″ are my most used. I dont like the smaller Cobra I have. But it is cute-just too small to comfortably hold and use.
MM
Those are the same two sizes I use the most. The 5’s are the ultimate pocket tool while the 10s are a good general purpose size for the toolbox that handle 95% of general plumbing and automotive work. The 12″ pliers wrench is substantially heavier than the 10″ but I haven’t found very many jobs that 12″ can do but the 10 can’t so I use the 10″ a lot more often.
As far as Cobras go, my smallest ones are 7″/180mm. They are quite light in that size. They may be a little long if you want an EDC tool but they’re plenty light and slim to drop in a pocket if you’re working. I think if you go with smaller Cobras you’re not gaining much in terms of carry-ability as the 7″ is already so slim but you are giving up a lot of leverage and jaw capacity. I have a several different Cobras as well but the 7″ and the 12″ are my most commonly used sizes. Like with the 5&10″ pliers wrench, I view the 7″ Cobras as the pocket tool and the 12″ the ‘ol standby in the tool box.
Jared
Those are also the sizes I use most.
I have the 5, 7 and 10. In terms of when I use it, the 5 is almost like a different tool from the other two. It’s great for pocket carry, small fasteners, awkward spaces and when you don’t need a lot of torque.
7 is a nice size in the hand, but I find that the 10″ does practically all the same things plus more. E.g. I sometimes wish for the 10 when I’m carrying the 7, but rarely the other way around. The 10 is heavier and longer, but still quite manageable.
I kind of want the XS… It’s just neat. but I think my next pliers wrench purchase will actually be the XL (16″).
I have the Cobra XS too, so I’m familiar with the size. I actually find it quite handy and surprisingly capable. I’m not sure though that the same would apply to the XS pliers wrench because of how a pliers wrench has limited jaw movement.
MM
I use my XXL pliers wrench more often than the 12″. Not only is it useful for large fasteners but it makes an especially handy press tool, and is good for crimping IDC connectors on ribbon cable.

Thanks, I just was able to complete my Christmas shopping!

They have a new linemans that is needlenose. What I would like to see is the wire stripper with needlenose, and VDE grip. IT would be clever to have one tool that can cut Romex, strip and then twist ends for receptacles. Having two takes time and space in my pouch. Right?
This: https://www.knipex-tools.com/products/combination-and-lineman%27s-pliers/needle-nose-combination-pliers/needle-nose-combination-pliers-tethered-attachment/0828185US
combined with this:

Its close but want the smoother finish on the needlenose part.
Derek
This but with the VDE grip? https://www.knipex-tools.com/products/wire-strippers-and-dismantling-tools/wire-strippers/forged-wire-stripper-awg/13728

If you don’t have Knipex Pliers Wrench/es yet, time to step up! The 7″ (180mm) are a great starting point. Mine have been worth every penny but I have to say that my 7″ Cobras are far and away the most used tool in my bag. If you don’t have a pair of those, for SURE get some.
Jason
I’ve got a number of them and love them. What I’m really waiting for is for Knipex to redesign them and release larger sizes with the auto adjust like the XS size. I really want a 180 and 250 auto adjust version.
TC
Are you certain the sale is today only? The email and instagram post just state “limited time” ?
Stuart
Hmm.
At the time, the IG post and email weren’t up yet. Taking another look, there’s no mention of an expiry date. “Save Today” sent me into assumption mode. I think you’re right.
Thanks!
Clayton
Some are out of stock , check out menards, they have some at even better prices.
Clayton
I missed that they were discounted further in the cart, my mistake, I saw that they were marked down and thought that was the final price.
Joe Closson
I’m finding at least the same or better pricing on Amazon right now. Maybe I’m missing something.
Stuart
Depends on the model.
Knipex Pliers Wrench XS – $35.63 at KC Tool, $43-$44 at Amazon
Knipex 10″ Pliers Wrench – $48.90 at KC Tool, $52-$58 at Amazon
As mentioned in the post, the discounted price appears in your cart before checkout.
Derek
This morning they raised all the prices for the 15% off sale.
Knipex Pliers Wrench XS is now $44.54 – 15% off
10″ Pliers Wrench is now $81.36 – 15% off
Stuart
KC Tool didn’t touch their prices.
Are you talking about Acme? From what I’ve been told in the past, a lot of promos require that retailers reset pricing to MAP or MSRP.
Always know your prices and price-compare when you don’t.
Derek
I think I mixed up vendors. I posted KC Tool prices but it is Acme who is doing the 15% off sale on Knipex today.
The prices at KC seem to have gone back to the normal pre-sale price, not the 20% off from yesterday.
Apologies for that. Been looking at too many tool sites from all your posts for deals. I should have ordered from pliers wrenches from KC Tools yesterday.
Stuart
@Derek,
KC Tool’s discount is still being applied in-cart.
With Acme’s I haven’t compared pricing yet. But, deals and discounts will generally bump pricing back to MSRP and MAP.
Amazon will generally do their own thing regarding pricing, which is also why I always recommend comparing pricing just in case. Not every deal will save you money.
Aaron
Not sure how old it is, but my oldest knipex plumbers wrench says made in West Germany, which was reunified in 1990.
Doug
No sale when 85% of the selection is sold out.
Classic Bait and switch.
Stuart
Sorry, you’re late to the party. There was plenty of pizza and cake to go around, everyone just ate it all.
Plus, party’s already over.
