In case you couldn’t tell by my Leatherman reviews and other posts, I’m a huge fan of their multi-tools and accessories. I’m also quite fond of PocketToolX, a maker of high quality minimalist tools. So you can imagine the smile on my face when I found out that Leatherman acquired and is now the proud owner of PocketToolX.
I briefly discussed PocketToolX’s Wrex adjustable wrench and Brewzer keychain tool, and one of these days you’ll see a review for the Piranha multi-tool I purchased a couple of months ago for personal use.

So what does this all mean? Most notably, PocketToolX tools will now be marketed and packaged under the Leatherman brand name as part of their pocket-sized and keychain-sized product lines.
Next, new innovation is bound to be on the horizon. With Leatherman’s marketing and manufacturing might, hopefully we’ll see (figuratively) bigger and better minimalist tools of PocketToolX styling.

There are now many pocketable multi-tools on the market, including the Gerber Shard, Boker Vox, Schrade pry tool, and of course Atwoods’s many styles. Hopefully Leatherman’s new involvement will force innovation to the next level.
