Leatherman has announced they are bringing back the Real Tree Hardwoods pattern on their Charge TTI multi-tool.
Underneath the specially styled handles is the Charge TTI that many users known and love. It features a primary blade length of 2.9″, and the blade is made from premium S30V stainless steel. The tool is 4″ closed and weighs 8.3 ounces.

What’s with the “redneck” comment? Is that a racist remark against my people? Natives…did you know the Ramapough peoples roots go back over a 1000 years to the lenape tripe? They live in the poor mountainous region.
Because ones skin is not white or doesn’t live in a lavish home , there’s certainly no need for berating my people , natives, which we’re called that and more .it’s bad enough seeing the term ” Redskin” used by pro teams or the Indian symbol.

My sensitivity to the comment probably stems from the use of the word culchie by the inhabitants of Dublin in reference to those from the countryside and not in a positive way, in fact they also throw “hillbillies” at those from the Northwest such as myself and bogtrotters at those from the Midlands.
In this case the comment was just a superficial attempt to be smartarese there were legitimate criticisms to be made.

Hi-Viz orange with that new holographic material they use in road signs, so when you drop it in the woods, you can find it with a flashlight.

From a collector’s view point these are really neat. It is a different variation of the same tool. The cool camo factor of also helps sell it. I’ve already seen some collectors lamenting the fact that these new camo versions devalue the old ones, but if you didn’t get one of the first round, it gives you an opportunity to add this variation to your collection. Since it isn’t any different toolwise it is strictly a collector’s item for most.

From the more expensive Titanium handled model there is only the color difference that I can see. and like others said from a useability point of view – hell no.
I’d prefer to see safety orange on there – options for other colors even. I think I might buy the original Charge + which has mostly the same features but a different blade material, the same cutters and an AL handle while costing 40 or so less. I use an older pattern wave now. But I’d love that AL handle to be something other than black.

Not for me, but I do hope they continue with adding a couple color choices. Yeah, ultimately it’s a tool and doesn’t matter but I’d be tempted by a burnt orange or a blue. That said I still can’t justify the extra cost over a wave in any case.

I like that not only are the handles camo so it’s fully camouflaged when closed, but the sheath is camo too – so whether you drop the tool itself or the tool + sheath together, you won’t be able to find it.
To each their own, maybe, but if you buy this and drop it, you deserve the time taken off your life looking for it.
It’s too bad manufactuers are going down this road and catering to camo buyers for a few quick sales, rather than just making solid tools with the same finish and keeping the price low and the quality high.

Two points the first being could this knife be the equivalent of what is known in the UK as a Chelsea Tractor (an expensive four wheel drive vehicle which rarely leaves the city and never the road and whose owners legend has it spray mud on them so it looks “real”), second if I remember correctly Wera have a sponsor type role with Red Bull racing.

I really question camouflage on a tool that will be used outdoors, and surely will get dropped, slip off of something, …
It is already hard enough to find bits and pieces, regular tools, etc depending on terrain … when attempting a field repair, that the last thing I’d want on a multitool is a camouflage. Let alone as an upgrade.

It appears to have a matte finish, which is important while deer hunting as one flash of reflected sunlight can ruin your hunt. The gut hook appears a little too small, but I don’t have one in hand, it may still be useful for unzipping the paunch.
The outside access knife is essential if you find yourself dangling from your treestand safety harness.
By the way, if you drop it while deer hunting, chances are high it’ll be resting on brown leaves. That’s why my chosen camo patterns are predominantly grey (hardwood tree bark) and brown (leaves). But any camo pattern is better than bright/shiny.
I’m guessing they’ll sell a lot of these.

$180? Seriously? It would be cheaper if you bought all of the individual tools separately. There’s not even $30 worth of titanium here. 90 percent of the tool is made of stainless steel. I’m having a hard time seeing $180 worth of tools and materials here. How much does the name Leatherman account for the cost? Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to design a $180 pair of pliers and make them camouflage? You stand a good chance of losing these in your front yard, nevermind out in the woods. Ingenious. What makes Leatherman so special that the exact same multitools made by other brands cost significantly less?

I agree with the “hi-viz is better” mentality. I was working on an antenna tower and when I got on the ground something orange caught my eye. Then I went over and picked up my Spyderco rescue that had fallen out of my pocket.
