Lee Valley Cyber Monday Low-Angle Smoothing Plane Manufacturing Second

Lee Valley is having it’s annual Cyber Monday sale, today only (12/2/19). They have discounts on Lee Valley gift cards, manufacturing seconds, other miscellaneous tools, and free shipping on orders over $149 or more.

Many of these deals sell out fast, especially the manufacturing seconds. I remember in years past waking up at 7am to look at the sales and everything worth buying is gone. This morning several of the manufacturing seconds planes are already sold out, but surprisingly there are still some left.

In fact, while I was writing this post the Veritas low-angle smoothing plane shown above and a Wera Zyklop ratchet set sold out. So if you want a manufacturing second or other popular tool that is on sale, you need to make a decision now.

The manufacturing seconds include:

  • Veritas low-angle jack plane $207
  • Veritas fine dovetail saw $56
  • Veritas rip tenon Saw $95
  • Veritas DX60 block plane $175
  • Veritas router plane $124
  • Veritas pocket plane $73
  • Veritas large shoulder plane $199
  • Veritas right handed iron edge trimming plane $102
  • There’s still many more…
Lee Valley Cyber Monday Gift Card

Here are the deals on gift cards:

  • 10% off a $50 gift card: $45
  • 11% off a $100 gift card: $89
  • 12.4% off a $250 gift card: $219
  • 14% off a $500 gift card: $430
  • 15% off a $1000 gift card: $850

Here’s the fine print on the free shipping:

Free shipping applies to orders with a merchandise total of $149 or more, excluding the purchase of gift cards, and is for standard ground shipping within Canada and the contiguous United States. For areas not served by regular ground mail (Canada and U.S. only), your shipping quote will be reduced up to a maximum of $13.95. Shipping surcharges still apply.

Shop Now

Remember, this Cyber Monday Sale ends around midnight 12/2/19 or while supplies last.

If you don’t jump on this at midnight eastern time right when it opens you’re not getting the good stuff because it’s already gone.

Agree Mike. I picked up a shooting plane around 11:50pm last night, minutes after the sale opened up.

When I looked there were 3 pages of items. A few hours later there was 1. By the time I checked it this morning out Of curiosity most of the good hand planes were sold out.

I bought one of those shooting planes last night too. I’ve been trying for 3 years and finally got it done.

I stayed up this year, as I had promised myself a low angle jack plane and a router plane after missing out over the past couple of years. I checked out at 12:05, and some things were already sold out then!

Like states above I was refreshing the page at 10 til midnight and was able to get a medium shoulder and low angle block plane. While a lot of the items were still in stock for a while the website took forever (up to hours) for the checkout function to work.

Just saw that they opened an “express store” In Reno, NV, their first in the US. I’m sure it will be popular.

Hot August Nights at a Lee Valley kiosk?
Too funny. But you know it’s like a test before they actually consider moving south in general.
      Good for them! And us.

Their updated website design was definitely taxed last night and crashed at one point. I have many followers tell me the same thing.

I managed to get 1 of the three planes that I had placed in my cart by the time I was able to check out.

Will I missed this sale. I wanted several planes but they were gone by the time I got the ToolGUyd email and went to the site. It was 0530 Hawaii Time.

Agreed, you need to be on their by midnight at the latest. It varies year by year, but last night the page was live by 11:55pm when I got on.
I had to check out 3x before it took, I was about to go to bed if it didn’t work that last time.
I got a shoulder, router and BU jointer planes. With my Stanley #4 and Veritas low-angle Jack, I think I’m done. I don’t do it for a living, so can’t justify specialized planes.

I must have been very lucky, I saw the page come up at 11:50 and had confirmation email for the 5 planes I ordered at 11:54! There was only one plane on my wishlist which wasn’t on sale.

I bought a low angle jack and jumped on the site right at midnight. It already arrived and I opened the box. I can hardly tell what is even a manufacturing defect on it other than a tiny nick on one side that will never affect anything and I’d likely put there myself over the first year. I’d definitely have no concerns over buying a manufacturing second from them again. May get a shoulder plane and/or router plane next year.

Got a low angle smoother. I was tempted by the low angle Jack, but trying to stay within a budget after buying the flex vacuum. Hope I don’t regret it later. I also got a gift certificate, which I plan to use later on, mainly when they have free shipping. Last year I got a router plane. So maybe one a year.
