Lee Valley Free Shipping Aug 2014

Lee Valley’s semi-annual free shipping event kicked off again today, and will last through September 8th, 2014.

Orders of $40 or more in the contiguous USA ship for free, except for oversized orders or those that might require special freight shipping.

This is a recurring promo that I look forward to with anticipation every couple of months. If I need a Veritas tool or something else from Lee Valley, I’ll order it as needed, but I tend to gradually add to a wishlist between such purchases. The free shipping promos are a great time to buy these smaller non-essential tools and accessories. Something about not having to pay shipping makes me more inclined to bunch these tools into a single order.

If you have never ordered from Lee Valley before, there are two things you need to know about them. First, their in-house Veritas woodworking tool brand makes some very excellent tools. Second, Lee Valley has great customer service.

Although Lee Valley is a woodworking supplier, they carry a lot of great general purpose tools and supplies as well.

Shop Now(via Lee Valley)

Thanks for Fred for the heads-up!

I saw it this morning along with several other “Labor Day Deals”.
Zoro is offering one of their 25% off (on $300 through 9/3) deals with coupon code “DAYOFF”
Tooltopia has a 10% off deal through 9/1 with free shipping (orders over $75) with coupon code “HANDTOOLS10”
CPO Outlets is doing a $15 off $100, $20 off $150, and $25 off $200 with coupon Code “LABORDAY”

As with any of these deals its worth doing some comparison shopping to see if the “deal” is really a deal.

Nonetheless I’m getting my Lee Valley (toothed plane blades and a few odds and ends) order together.

I do the same thing, grouping smaller items, like some brad point bits or bench dogs. They do have a lot of good specialty items like this that are not available elsewhere. Otherwise the per item cost ends up being too high for small things. I also tend to order regularly more from places that have ongoing free shipping, like Hartville Tool and MLCS.

Perhaps sometime you could write about places that have free or low-cost shipping, routerbit world ($1) is one place I’ve found.

Like others – I appreciate free shipping – but I’m a bit more skeptical about “free anything” – so I naturally compare total prices including shipping and sales tax. I also look at refund/return policies , especially when I’m a bit unsure about an item.
